It's truly difficult to find someone who is not only a good artist but a good teacher as well and has the ability to clearly articulate what he is trying to convey. You do this very well and so succinctly. There are no wasted words or time in all of your tutorials that I have watched. Many allow you to watch them paint but don't really discuss the many aspects of making a painting especially when it comes to color and the mixing of it. You do all of this very well and very precisely. I truly applaud your efforts. Anyone watching can't help but become a better artist and painter. Bravo, sir!!

Steven McDowell Indeed, nigh impossible, honestly. I've met many incredible artists whom couldn't even begin to instruct you on how to actually create a painting. It's hard to take countless years of experience, technique, theory, and mistakes and condense it into a coherent lesson plan. That's why most art teachers tend to be so oblique when it comes to, you know, actually teaching. A rare quality, for sure.

'Communicate any sense of reality.' This could be the essence of painting and when you think of it can have a very very deep and esoteric meaning.

I like the careful soft voice in the video. Great use of explaining how to compose with actual objects before making a photo and then painting. The use of dominant warm and then minor cool light really pulls the shadows together. I like the b-roll on finding mushrooms to paint with and later explanation of the color combinations and brushes used.

There are lots of artist video’s... hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands. The issue is quality videos not meaning the talent of the artist but the quality and content of the video. I have gotten where I just don’t have the patience to watch someone speed paint and receive no instruction at all to help me as to what they are doing. It’s okay to do that through repetitive parts but not beginning to end. And videos that are mostly sales to get you to buy other things. Or videos of paintings that are 1/2 completed before we start watching and basically we need to buy a dvd etc to find out how the first part or the end was created. Lots of videos, but also some are difficult to follow, really good artist, but I’m worn out trying to follow all the distractions and interruptions or stopping and starts about other subjects. We have all seen them. Andrew gets down to business..maybe a little less ads would be nice... the Google ads and then his ads... a bit much sometimes but and a huge but..is he provides such top quality instruction during the rest of the video, that I don’t mind so much. Everyone has to make money and he gives us a lot of time in explaining as he works, or on specific topics like the brushes, mediums, etc. For those who can’t add one more dollar to their budget, it’s great to have information from a serious artist for free. There are a number who really provide top quality from talent, videography, instruction, time spent discussing, product reviews and the list goes on. As I said hundreds+ of videos out there, just not all top quality. But these are free and we have to keep that in mind and be appreciative. Even the worst video has some worth.. it teaches you what not to do! Again, thank you Andrew.

I think the cut of light in the middle of the backdrop the cold dusty light reflecting off the lamp and the gostly smoke frame it with a touch of haunting serenity. I don't mean to be a bit much but I'm already drawn in by the idea of still life of dead and broken things. A bit of a pun really, because it's not alife anymore, but it's humerous to death and poetic in a way.

If God is real it is possible to have life whithout hitting that boundry which atheists hit: the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything. This must mean that life is impossible without someone being outside time, space and matter, if God is outside of everything because he created everything means that God doesnt need to be born, God doesnt need air, time, dimensions to exist. The psalmist says“Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.” - Psalms 93:2 (KJV) Everlasting in the Hebrew is Owlam, so God is from Owlam, or in other words God is outside of limits, he is outside of time, God is almighty, alknowing, all powerful and spoke this creation into existence he is this powerful, the DNA is his handywork, time obeys his voice, the rocks cry out to him in silence, the trees stretch forth their branches to him, the birds sing his praise. He is in full control of everything in existence because he is the creator of ALL THINGS. When God created Man he created Man in his own image, he gave man a consiounce and knowledge of right and wrong, the Lord made Eve for Adam, he knew Adam needed a help meet for him, this also is another way God created man in his image because the word ADAM means more than Just a name, it means all humans when you look at it in the Hebrew which it was written. God made Earth for man and beast, and insects and birds, he made them and it was very good. God even let Adam and Eve be one flesh married and gave them the privelage of reproduction and filling up the earth which God had made. But remember God gave man free will, he did this in love so we can choose to obey him or not, since you may know man didobeyed God, and man was seperated from God's safety, so this is where death, and punishment came from, sin. For sin to be cleansed from man you need a living sacrifice to take Man's sins on itself and put the sin to death. Many religions make people think they can earn mercy from God, this is what cain did if you remember, he trued to give plants to God, when it is when another takes your sin is what really saves you. Basically you cannot earn God's mercy, because its not just, its not right. Noone knows when they will die, tonight when you walk home you could pass out and in an instant your geart could stop and you will be standing before a holy God who Will rightly judge sin. When you crossover to that eternal state where theyre is no going back, on the great day God judges all creation , the prophecy has been spoken. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” - Revelation 20:15 (KJV) The question is not why would God send people to such a place, the question is why wouldnt God rightly judge sin on his standards? Religion cannot save you from being cast alive, damned for eternity into everlasting darkness abd sorrows and suffering frkm the lake lf fire and brimstone. God understands the effect of sin on all creation, thats why he himself stepped down from his throne into fleshh 2000 years ago as Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the sinless sacrifice sent by the God the Father to be beaten beyond human recognition and nailed to a cross to hang and be tormented in all ways, carrying your sins, and even your punishment for sin was placed upon him and he endured your punishnent on that cross and Said "It is finished" and gave up the ghost. When he said these words, it is finished he could have also been saying that justice has been served, your punishment has been met but on him, and then remember he rose again, even the grave couldn't hold the Son of God, John 3 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ³⁵ The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. John 3 ³⁶ He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Now I encourage you, you still have time, swallow your pride and humble yourself before God, confess you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness. God will grant you eternal life and now you are saved, turn from your old lifestyle and Iive for Christ:)

Painting and sculpting are the two art forms I am nowhere near good enough at. I've been drawing since I was a child, because paper, pencils and pens are cheap, and easily accessible, but I only started painting properly in high school. Problem is, I paint the way I draw (working outwards, or working in small detailed sections) - so it takes me FOREVER... And I completely suck at dealing with the colours as the majority of stuff I've worked with was monochromatic. When I went to varsity, I was first introduced to the idea of "blocking in" when painting, but the lecturer didn't actually explain how it works, or why we block in, etc etc, so I never got it. I've been trying to understand it since then (it's been years), and have learnt more about the ideas, execution, and reasons to block in from your videos, than my year at varisty, or my 3 years doing art in school. I'm really looking forward to creating a gap of time for myself to sit down and really try again how to do this :D Thank you for the inspirational and helpful content! :D

This is a Masterpiece, I've been appreciating every second of it, you inspired me with your content, in some painting techniques, in order to make my own painting videos on my channel so thank you for sharing your experiences with us! 😊
