People need to watch this to truly appreciate the amount of work it takes to flame a vehicle. Nice work. 👍

The balance and composition of positive flame to negative space and the alternating lobes up the flame body just make it dance. I'm trying to make this a formula for want of natural.skill and an ey for it. You truly are working a gift. Bravo

When I lay out flames, I never make a pattern, I do it all freehand... I specifically tell people, these flames will NOT be perfectly symmetrical, they'll be pretty damn close, but not perfect...I like the randomness of it, most people can't tell anyway & you can only look at one side at a time anyway, so if one lick on one side is 1/2" off in one direction or another, you'll never see it or notice it without measuring it...that being said, this is a wonderful job... lots of great tips! and that's a beautiful car too...🖖🏿😎👍🏿

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I know lots of guys who lay out flames (as well as graphics) by eye and call it a day. I'm way too much of a perfectionist to make it "close", I want it dead on. It's an extra hour of work that I have no problem doing...

Brings back memories of those day spent endless hours in the shops all over pinstriping and lettering. Most of the time I'd be steady at it without eating all day, just to get the job done. As long as I had something to drink and a radio playing in the background, I would lose track of time and go all day!

Excellent instructional! This was such fun to watch - thanks. You took me back to the mid60s when one of my older brothers pinstriped his '57 Chevy. I think he put some girl's name on it, too.

I have always enjoyed doing flames. I did learn something today. Your way of making both sides match. I have always used a stipple wheel and a pounce pad but your method cuts that time down even more.

Excellent work 👍🏻 The color is a little too brown for me I would like it to have a little more pop a little brighter orange and purplish but that's just my flavor. Appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge, thank you!!

Thank you! It must be how the colors look on your monitor because there's definitely NO Brown in there! Orange to Magenta makes an "off" Red transition, but that's about it...

i hope you can help me i painted my car with transtar urethane paint and transtar clear coat a week latter i wet sanded it with 800 and used the gray scotchgard pad I applied 3M 1/8 thin line tape to make my flames i pulled the tape on and off many of times to try and get the flames to my liking i let it set over night and then used a plastic scraper to make sure the tape was flat so no paint would blead under . Here's my problem i decided i didn't like some so i pulled the tape off and reapplied all was well until i pulled the last piece doing so i pulled a very large piece of paint off now i have to redo the panel plus's im scared it will happen again any help would be very much appreciated thanks Dean

@@StoriesnSteel David childress from Memphis he has a brother and his father came up with a formula that contained fiberglass resin when he brought it to abra body shop he was using a thicker formula to go right over 80 grit I didn’t understand at the time what they where doing but it evolved into a product sold to Kleen strip another Memphis company if I’m not mistaken the kids now are in their 50s and I think they are lead painters at a dealership now great guys this was in the late 80s

You do beautiful work , but I've never understood the obsession with going through so much work to make them simetricle you can't see both sides at the same time and flames are meant to be random
@kevinsnyder4425
@kevinsnyder4425 2 года назад
That's what I always thought - you can't see both sides at the same time.... I always try to match up the hood as close as possible, but the you can get away with close enough on the sides.!
@bradking5608
@bradking5608 2 года назад
I do it that way because then I KNOW both sides are the same...
@dipling.pitzler7650

Thought the same but when standing in front of the car you do see both sides even if only bits of the lower parts, secondly you have to take drone Fotos into account nowadays.
