This is a beautiful transition from an already smooth and cute lineart. Agh, I want to get to this level but I just got my wacom yesterday and am practicing.
This is honestly the best piece of advice I have EVER gotten on digital colouring, and I am forever grateful to you. Thank you so, so, so much, my art honestly got like 500% better instantly.
I have NEVER been able to color skin correctly, nor have I been able to color hair, but after you explained the watercolor brush it became so simple. I use MediBang paint which is by the same company that made FA and so everything is pretty much the same, besides the animation feature the MediBang paint does not have. Thank you for this! Also, your personality is so awesome haha! Kinda relate to it myself:)
I just realized this is like the first video I've watched where the artist has said to merge your layers to start going over your lineart, which is such a "duh" moment for some, but it often is overlooked and it just helped me so much. Thank you D:
That's a very nice idea, I always think how to make the lineart more "subtle", or more integrated to the picture. Thank you very much, this is helpful! :)
HOLY CRAP THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I was trying to figure out how to do this and I've been struggling for YEARS trying to paint over lines. Ahhhhhh! This is beautiful. Thank you
This is something I often struggle with when I'm trying to digital paint. You answered some questions that I've had over time and I honestly thought your "rambly talking" was incredibly insightful and amusing. Thank you for posting this. :D
omg that multiply thing literally saved my life I was just struggling with finding a good way to colour my lineart and neither on top or underneith was working so THANK YOU THANK YOU
This is incredible. I learned so much. Going over the lineart in this way just made such a difference that I wasn't even expecting - it made it look far more "real" and getting rid of black harsh lineart in my work is something I have been really keen on. I'll definitely be using this tutorial to refer to in my next work, thank you so much.
i know this tutorial is 5 years old but i gotta thank you for this 'cuz i've never really known how to blend or paint in firealpaca pfft. i have been doing digital art for a While but when painting comes into question usually my brain shuts off! completely! but this makes it more accessible honestly. thank.
Omfg, I am SO glad this video exists, I feel like I've improved so much after just one drawing! You are literally my saviour, and I love your art style so much!
As someone who has always drawn only with pencil I've struggled with digital painting for years. I understand how light works and everything I just didn't have a good approach when it came to digital painting, that is until I found this video!
wow I'm so glad this video was helpful for you! i struggled with the switch too, initially but now I'm better with digital than I am with traditional :)
This is literally the most helpful video I've seen concerning painting and rendering the face along with utilizing layer types. Wow, thanks for this video!!
this was super helpful, i love your voice over style, it feels like we're just having a conversation, i dig it. and i love your drawing style too! definitely subscribing and following you on tumblr/ig
Wow this tutorial helped me so much! I have a mac so i haven't been able to get paint tool sai and there aren't that many tutorials on fire alpaca....so I'm glad I found a great one on ur channel! It really showed me the potential of the program lol thanks!
Wow that's that simple it looks to compacted and I have been doing paint wrong but thank you for making this video all the videos I watch and they make is sound so compacted
This tutorial was a saviour for my work, you bought me into the world of digital painting so thank you so much! Your teaching was really clear and concise!!
using low opacity brushes to blend can make things muddy. If you're running into that, just use a standard soft round brush at full opacity. It's soft enough around the edges that it sort of blends anyways, without mixing a ton of different hues together into a muddy catastrophe.
Hey, just a simpleton artist passing through, I noticed you did your shading on the same layer as the base colors, I suggest separating those layers so it's easy to change what the shade looks like without messing up the other colors. I just thought it might help you out, make things easier and quicker so you can do what you love efficiently without worrying about painful shading.
This is so helpful! Lord knows there's so many artist videos on painting skin but never do they mention how they blend the lines with the painting partXD Thanks yo😉
Hi! I've seen your video a while ago and I just want to say I am extremely grateful to you! You are amazing! I know it's kinda basic, but beginners such as me have no idea, I've always wondered how this " smudgy art " is done but none of the other tutorials explained it, so thank you very much, it truly boosted me.
I've always wanted someone to make a video like this. I struggle with shading and going over lines without messing up and then finding out later that I did. Thank you so much.
CicadaSkies I actually found your way of shading a WHOLE lot better! Thanks again! No need to be so modest either, my line-art is terrible in general. So, I kind of sketch out the line-art and try to make it casual or leave a bit of a hole, but then fill it anyways, because the shading will make it looks like there is line-art.
Thx so much, I only started digital art a few days ago and even when I was draw traditional I avoided drawing people but now I'm drawing people digitally and traditional all the time
I dont know why but I never even considered merging my linear layer with the color layers to paint over that. That would make everything so much easier!! I guess I'm always apprehensive to destroy layers lol
OMG this is amazing. Im only 4 minutes into the video but I already love you. you get straight to the point, and I love your art style omg and you made the tutorial interesting. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I subbed :)
