How to make a dot mandala spiral ornament step by step real time
Real time dotting with no speeding up of the video at all. This is to make it easier for those that want to paint at the same time while watching the video.
You may still need to pause the video occasionally if you are brand new to dotting.

Remember to read your paint bottle to find out how to cure the paint. Some require baking and other brands if you just let it sit
for a certain length of time its okay. If you mix and match brands you may have issues if its something like a cup that you would need to
bake to make dishwasher safe.

Very pretty, eye catching. Sue, have you tried using the Americana Multi Surface paints on these Christmas balls, at all? If so, were they okay please? Thanks.

Hi Lyn, first Happy Mothers day if your a Mom :) I have used multi-surface paint before on plastic ornaments which were painted on the outside. I have yet to figure out how to make them nice looking painting the inside of the ornament and then top dotting on a clean ornament. I'm still experimenting with different paints and things will be another video coming out soon. Top dotting on an outside painted ornament with the multi-surface and with regular acrylic both work fine. I've had no problems with them adhering nicely. I just spray with a sealer after and they are fine. ( I checked the ones I did last year and they are still looking good). I did make another ornament just a few days ago (ornament was glass and came already colored) I painted that with multi-surface paint and it went fine. I haven't cured it yet though. Now the issue I see and I'm addressing this in another video is if you mix paints. I have some enamels and multi-surface but if you read the labels they cure differently especially if you switch up brands. So I have yet to do that. I stay to one brand unless the cure time is the same for both. But then there is an issue with multi-surface and trying to cure the paint. Most require oven time which is fine with glass but not sure at what temp it would melt plastic. So I just never baked them on the plastic because your not eating from it or washing it in a dishwasher. Hope my novel helps in some way lol. I'll be addressing this all more in another video. But because of dry times etc wont be done until next week some time.

@@SueSloan Thanks Sue. Happy Mother's Day (sorry, no I am not a mom). Your explanation is great. I don't see the point in curing the paints, if they aren't going in a dishwasher. I would think the paint would naturally cure over time, on its own. I agree about mixing different brands of paint, that we would need to experiment before taking on a large project. I have noticed that two other Dot Artist who regularly put up videos, don't seem to bother about mixing paints. The way this art form is taking off, if it is going to be sold, we should know about the longevity of the paints we are buying. Many of us have invested quite a lot of money into our resources, with little long term product knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to answer Sue.

Beautiful! Do you or would you consider coating it with anything to protect it? If so, what would you use? Thank you!

I usually use Krylon matte finish spray or Aleene’s gloss finish spray.
