Hi! I'm a silk painter and I find it easier to use PVC as a frame. We use masking tape (or the lighter-colored painter's tape) and silk needles to attach the silk and stretch it. On Facebook there is a group for silk painters called SPIN (Silk Painters INternational). You definitely chose a good dye (DuPont Silk Dyes). I started my art career as a watercolorist and I compare silk painting to watercolor as well! I never liked gutta or the resists because of the lines. I no longer use those other than the metallic resists to sign my name on the canvas! I use cold wax just like I'd use masking or frisket. The cold wax can be ironed out or steamed out, then you can paint in it whatever you want. I wish you much happy painting! 🙂
thats such a cool idea! i have started watercolor painting on wood! i dont remember what the mix is made of put you spread this special paste on wood that makes it able to hold watercolor! its very interesting and when i find the name of it i can let you know if you want! I love watching your videos! they make me so inspired😁also happy valentine's day!
