How to Paint Space Marine Faces Fast

In this video, I'll show you how to paint Space Marine Faces quickly and Effectively to get your models on the tabletop!
Space Marine faces are some of the bigger sized ones out there so are probably a good place to start!
You'll also need a good set of brushes with a good point. I use Winsor & Newton Series 7, size 00, 0 and 1

I’m a newbie with faces, but does bugmans glow work as a base work as a darker skin tone? I’ve been told this on some forums, but never tried it

Yeah - Bugmans glow will give you a much darker effect

What would you work up from bugmans? Cadian and then kislev? I wanted to give my white scars a darker skin tone. Thanks for the vid it's great (and also the white scars video!)

Good job on that, much prefer this method of doing faces as opposed to starting with the Bugmans Glow and building up.

Thanks for this, I'm usually pretty happy with my guys as a whole but the faces on those I've tried are awful. Which is why I always go helmet or with least amount of face showing as possible, but I think I could manages this, sort of anyway!

Could you also do this with bugmans glow as base, cadian flesh as first highlight and the kislev as second highlight?

i think you did a really nice job in under 10 minutes. I've seen tutorial videos of people spending an hour doing one single face and I'm confused as to what they're doing; they're trying to be piccaso when there's no need. your method is simple and looks great. do you think i could use the same method on 35 scale figures for faces to good quick effect?

Thanks! 35 mm should be ok, but there is a little more surface area so you may need to have less sharp transitions between colours

when did 2160p become available? is this quality possible b/c of a new camera? or the way it's recorded since it's an older video? how were you able to change it from say 1080p to 2160?

I've had it since May/June 2020 I think :) upgraded my phone then - that's what I use to film :)

I just wonder will this work on 1/72 fig? is it too small to shade?

I have no idea having never tried - it may be too small for all the layers, and it will depend on how much detail the face has - you could potentially do a base, shade and add a highlight layer to define features

The face will work fine - or do you mean the white armour? Contrast paints aren't great over flat surfaces

Any tips for getting the black dot centred? Is it purely down to the 00 size brush?

Thanks for the tips Ellis - a couple of things: Make sure the paint is flowing well, so water it down You don't have to use a 00 brush - you just need a brush with a really good point If you need to, use a magnifying screen - as I'm getting older this is something I need to think about! Brace your elbows on the table to make sure you have a stable base Hope that helps!

@@ellisowendaniel i've been using a Windsor newton series 7 000 and have had decent luck with the eyes, you could also base coat the whole head with corax white and dot the eyes from the very start so you don't make as much of a mess of the face, then gently paint kislev flesh around the eye, its easier than getting that dot center.
