Fantastic content as always! Would love to see more unique schemes you don’t see often like this! Would be interested how you could develop one of the more “boring” schemes like you mentioned into something as brilliant as this. Keep it up guys!
I built my Pre-magnus Thousand Sons on your Iron Warriors metal video, adding orange and blue pads. It's a pity you don't ever use 3D printed bits since I've created a lot, but it would be nice to see what you'd do with "official" bits.
We use 3d printed parts, it's just that we don't like many of them. Often they'll have sculpted detail, iconography etc, which we prefer to either leave off or replace with decals.
@@cultofpaint ah I didn't know 😅 ! I guess showing stuff that aren't easily available to people is a thing too. Anyhow, this paintjob is amazing, and I think I'll have a go on it, it's even better than the later scheme (and that's amazing too).
I'd love to see the Dusk Raiders been done, would be perfect in the new mkiii. Would also be interesting to see that one done with a metallic undercoat
The War-Born (ultramarines) don't really have much fluff, but would be cool to see you expand it to ideas of what they might've looked like, or any number of variations you might be able to do for a pre-heresy scheme, regardless of the legion
@@cultofpaintas someone who does a traitor variant of the XIII (or rather II thats was incorporated after their primarch was "lost" and rebels after the Heresy starts), yes please.
This is definitely a great choice of legion to show off the new MkIII kit. They look awesome. If you plan to do any more, I think it might be really cool to model the Revenant Legion as well. Sanguinius could use some "before and after" models to stand with him in the display case.
yes definitely...even with a grey scheme the other layers that go on top of this would make for a very interesting tutorial and id love to see Cults take on it too
The War Hounds had a great look and knowing a bit of the lore makes them so much more tragic. They used to be a this tight knit brotherhood. Their methods in combat were brutal, yes. But there was a lot of honor and camaraderie in the legion. All of that disappeared when Angron came in and the War Hounds put the nails into their own heads. The mk 3 is contentious? I personally love it and haven’t heard a lot again it. The spike is neat. It turns the helmet into a pickelhaube and those helmets are pretty cool looking.
Such a great colour scheme, great work! The itch to start whatever legion you paint is always there heh. Your take on a White Scars (Star Hunters) pre-heresy scheme could be fun, been thinking of a Recon force with that theme myself. Dusk Raiders is a good one as well.
You mentioned last video wanting to do some Badab stuff. If that does happen, any chance we could see some Fire Hawks? I’ve been wanting to paint some up, but it’s been nearly impossible to get the color just right. It’s a very peculiar, sort of burnt sienna color. Figured if anyone would know what to do, it would be you!
the Mark III kits might be my new favourite, especially as someone who collected a handful of Death Guard models as my entry into the hobby. Speaking of Death Guard, I feel like the Dusk Raiders scheme would look phenomenal on these new kits, the asymmetrical red arm and shoulder armor scheme is a very cool look.
We need a new Word Bearers army, the last one looked to like Thousand Sons. I made my version with X-27 Acrilic and then Enamel preshade so they are proper dark blood red. Maybe Space wovles? They are metallic shaded.
2:47 some people really let themselves go in the comments of last week's video and not in a good way. But to be fair, if it was titled something like "the space marine kit I love the most", it would have triggered people less. At least the RU-vid algorithm likes a lot of engagement, even if it's toxic.
Very nice looking warhound! You've got me thinking about painting a dreadnought for my world eaters force with this older scheme to represent an ancient warrior reawoken.
Great scheme, I like the change of colour on the back of the legs. FYI Mk2 pauldrons look really nice on this new armour, I think they are subtly better.
By far the best Warhound paintjob on YT! Amazing and beautiful translation from paper to paint(job). Now is my question... all legions from the Badab War please!? :)
Love to see the Imperial Fists after Unification Wars and award of the Roma. This was when they still had their storm grey unpainted armour but acquired the imperial fists yellow right pauldron, vambrace, and gauntlet, with yellow stripe on the helm, black bolt across the chest and yellow imperial motif on left pauldron (eagle head inside a circle with crossed bolts).
I have a Luna Wolves army I've been working on, I'm never quite satisfied with the white and black. If you go through more of the pre-heresy schemes I'd love to see it.
The bones stenciled onto the forearm and shin of the pre-Blood-Angels Revenant Legion armor of the HH black book artwork, along with the geometric flower motif and spattered gore **might** make an otherwise raw grey ceramite scheme worth considering?
The 5th legion were very divided and diverse before the Khan unfied them and made them into the white scars. Maybe you could take two models and invent two different pre-Khan 5th legion schemes.
I too like the oil wash method of pin washing. These are very wicked cool paint schemes. Have you guys done the Dusk Raiders yet? I think that woukd be neat.
Hello! I love the baby-blue metallic snd the tonal contrast to it being (one of) the most vicious Legion. Id absolutely love a pre-heresy raven guard scheme with xeric tribe tatoo markings, the same that can be found on their amazing contemptor dreadnought model.
Great scheme! I'm currently planing my World Eaters Army and thought about mixing in some Warhounds (maybe Tanks or some of the Dreadnoughts) for some interesting colouring. You guys made a World Eaters tutorial a few years ago and I wonder, if those schemes will work together. Maybe you could tell me, since you might still have both minis around ;). Would be a great help!
That's a very striking scheme, and you've just helped me decide what I'm doing with my new Legion Battle Group box. I was thinking of using the air version of GW's Kantor Blue as I believe they're more formulated for using in the airbrush, as in pre-thinned to a certain extent - the idea being it'll save all the extra thinning you said you did for your application of that blue. Keep up the incredible and inspirational work in this series.
Good video, colour plate compliant for sure. I was under the impression mixing matte and gloss varnishes didn't work as they are too different, gloss is just resin or whatever and matte's 'active ingredient' is some form of talcum powder. I am eager to be proven wrong though as i wouldn't mind bringing my satin varnish down a couple of notches. Is this a new technique or have you been doing it for years/learned it from another experienced hobbyist?
I tried this scheme today it's very effective. I will need to adjust how many blue layers I do next time as I lost the nice metallic shine you are having. I also went overboard with the silver chipping, for the next marines I will re-watch this and try to get them closer to your lads. Very cool scheme thanks for uploading it
I think the war hound with a metallic helmet is one of the single coolest marines I've ever seen. Damnit Angron for changing their colours! Any chance of a non metallic WB scheme if you're continuing the heresy series?
