@UCpH4AbLz-pH3c0aEHSgXCTA The personality test questions/statement is more likely to be: "I often get angry" Then, I would answer as FALSE, or STRONGLY DISAGREE, because I don't 'often' get angry. However, if they do pose a statement or question that asks if you have ever been angry, then yes, you would AGREE, because the vast majority of people have become angry at some stage in their life.
I have nothing to do with this vid but can you makes some vids on tips and tricks how to pass ur selective test and if u are doing it then can you make it in a hurry because my test is coming soon in like 3-4 days
@@kwlhk82 I know right, like how dare that person has a mind of their own and doesn't kiss my ass 24/7. How dare they not take the blame for mistakes and illegal activities that I do. HOW DARE THEY!!
This is where psychology as as science has gotten us to, most of these questions can be interpreted in many ways, the answers are meaningless unless one understands the context of the answers given. Who knows what the respondent has in their mind.
Just lost a really important placement to me because I followed the advice of ‘choose answers honestly’. Wish I’d followed my instincts and did research by watching videos like this one
Honesty, education & experience is no longer a virtue in employment. It's about studying and rehearsing mechanical answers to WOW the employer. In other words - Beat the System. Shameful.
Unfortunately HR/companies wants us to tell lie. Rather why can't they train new candidates of how to go about with those skills than to just reject them on the base of truth that they disclosed.
@@vunguyenchannel truth.be told...forever through time.....its like runnimg into a catch 22 situation or caught in a time travel paradox that breaks the fabric of the universe
I don't take it as a lie, though... I take as knowledge people. So at times when the company need our help, we know what persona should we appropriate our selves. Then at times of relaxed times we can switch back to ourselves. Isn't that what professionalism is ? right ?
I didn't pass an original personality test for a role that I'm already doing as a consultant even though I was strongly encouraged to apply for the role by my (client side) boss and her boss, too. They've re-advertised the role and now I'm going for it again. Here's hoping it goes well. I feel much more prepared this time round. Thank you. 😊
@@orsobruno1980 Well, I then found out that they had a time restriction on when I could take the test again. So if you fail the test, you can't repeat it again within a year. However, I had major surgery about four days prior to my first test which impacted my performance. Based on that, I secured an exception, had a couple of interviews and I secured the job! ☺️
I honestly think the "I work best if I am working in a team" question is tricky only in terms of answering it based on a separate question. Alot of these personality questions are repeated but at a different angle to where answering differently causes answers to conflict. If you chose in a earlier variation to this question by saying "I work well with others" but in this other question you say "I prefer working alone" on a separate question, then you just broke consistency. Employers are looking for consistency as well. For this question in particular @19:00 I honestly think no matter the job, you should STILL select "I prefer working in a team" because Teamwork is how everything gets done. Even IF you are alone often, saying this means you are showing that you are willing to work as a team if needed. The question isn't asking, "What is the best way you work?" That's a different perspective entirely. That's just my thoughts and perspective with how I would see it.
Q13. Being realistic even if that means being pessimistic is extremely valuable in roles where there is the necessity to identify risks and develop contingency plans to counter events proactively instead of reactively. Some roles come to mind such as in Project Management and Health and Safety fields.
When you are told there are no wrong answers that is completely wrong. There are right answers. The wrong answers end your progress in the interview. Personality tests should never have been introduced into job interviews, but someone needed something to sell to lazy HR departments. If we followed how long employees remained and tried to justify that with the personality test there would be an interesting case.
They always say its not a pass or fail. BS did you not get the job based on your answers. Then you fail. I have noticed a trend that companies that employ these type of questionnaires tend to have extreamly toxic environments.
I see that your approach is to draw a connection between the job description and the questionnaire, and answer accordingly, but it rarely seems so cut and dried in my experience. There is a negative interpretation to any of the possible answers to these questions. Strongly Agree or Strongly Disagree? Then you are too inflexible. Somewhat agree or disagree? Then you are not true to your beliefs. Neutral? Then you are non-commital. Prefer to work alone? Then you're not a team player. Work well with others? Then you're not self-motivated; and if you agree to both, then you're contradicting yourself. If I said "I put people I work with at ease," and then said "I prefer obedient people over carefree people," I would expect a hiring manager to think that I do not like the people I work with, that I am not good at getting people to obey, or that one of those statements was false. My usual goal is to be honest so that I do not get caught in a lie, but these tests clearly discourage honesty from the applicants. I suppose the choice is to NOT work for an employer that psychologically profiles me (very unlikely), or figure out what they want and do my best to act like I am those things (but not too much because then I'll either seem self-important, or overly eager to please). I think a more useful video would be about how to decipher job descriptions to know what they are looking for. Rarely do I find myself in a situation where I can tell from reading a job description or the company's values statement what answer in the questionnaire will get me to the next phase.
I’m so glad I came across your video. I did a insurance agent SLP assessment and passed. You gave me confidence and reassured me how to be consistent. Thank you!
Fantastic - you're welcome! I'm so glad to have helped :) All the best in your new career! Please would you SUBSCRIBE to my channel? I'd very much appreciate your support. Thank you! Richard 🙏
After meeting logical reasoning requirements but not reaching personality requirements for solicitor positions on SJT tests ive done a lot of searching for guides how to approach these tests. This is the first guide that I've found that has been helpful and comprehensive into how to approach these tests. Much appreciated!
Thank youuu soo much I found your channel! I passed the value assessment test and interviews because of your useful, helpful and very informative videos !💕 More power! 😊
If these tests have to be gamed to pass, then what good do they do? You can screen candidates by experience and education, and you still have no idea who you are really hiring until they have been with you for a few weeks. There is no way some made up test based on made-up science can give you much useful information. They keep a bunch of HR people employed, though.
Ur samples are too easy amd obvious. Personality tests now are more sophisticated like the harisson assessment and they does not work like this. Hope you can update ur video.
We pass these tests by refusing to be a part of discriminatory practices that isolate and condemn applicants based on their "personality." Not only are these practices immoral, they are unethical in any form. Good luck to you all. If you are ever faced with this decision, think about working for a company that isolates the exact personality traits and trash bins the rest of the applicants. Not sure if you want to work for garbage companies like that, but applicants that are aware of these illegal practices will never be a part of those process's. Thanks for the video.
I gotta say. You're right. I actually failed my personality test and immediately a " you're not fit" email came after I submitted it. It through me because I answered honestly and morally. I don't get it and once I found out it's a score based test I was over it.
Can I ask what your answers would be "True" or False" questions, on the first two you showed? "I take risks" and "I find routine boring". I am moving to my 3rd step interview, for a Admin Asst. and it is a personality test. Thank you for taking the time to walk though what a test could look like. I have been told to be honest as possible. But I like the way you explained, to put yourself in the hiring managers shoes. Thank you.
Honestly, I would just answer truthfully... Think about it.. if you are gonna say that you get excited about getting to work on a difficult project but in reality, you DO NOT and prefer working alone.. When they hire you, they are going to EXPECT you to work on difficult projects one after another in groups You are at the losing end.. How long are you going to stay in that job? Or would you just suck it up and endure it.? Better off finding a job that requires you to work independently.
Hello good sir! Honestly, this video made me think differently oh how to be in the employer's shoes and what they are seeking for a future employee. I'm sure like many others, I've attempted the police officer psychological exam two years ago and failed. However, your advice and hopefully more content can make me feel more confident and ready for the next attempt. Thanks again :)
I don't feel as if I owe any kind of honesty on a personality test; these questions don't have a truth value in my mind. Emotion isn't needed to be polite and courteous. Cheer and optimism isn't needed to be kind. Idealism isn't necessary to give people the benefit of the doubt. And of course, these questions are also fairly discriminatory against people with various types of disabilities.
+Evelyn Lewis Yes, they really are! Especially those with learning difficulties. You shouldn't base a candidate on these tests, you should let a potential employee demonstrate to you why they would be a great fit for a particular role.
i totally agree... they don't deserve the truth either necessarily. We all know how we should act in public etc. Literally the entire world is taught to act in order to be socially cohesive, to a degree or another. It's like for a customer service job... so what if I like to watch debates, I know NOT to sit and argue on the phone with customers... since I believe that is what they were looking at. These things are SOOO unfair.
I took one of these tests recently and after watching your video I realized I def should have lied on the assessment. Anyhow I have another one coming up and from your point of view I am feeling a little less anxious about it. My confidence was shot. Fingers crossed
just to ask , don't we need to stick to one answer throughout the session ? i mean if i choose lets say : i am always a team player , then followed 10 questions comes with same meaning. if chosen something else then you fail? pls correct me
If employers would just use good, common sense, they wouldn't need gimmicks like this. They wouldn't need to waste their time and job applicants' time with so-called tests that are nothing more than questionnaires with subjective and ambiguous words and phrases. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if, for example, if one is applying for a job that involves leading other people (like a teacher or manager that actually manages people and not just paperwork) or a sales position, one wouldn't answer that he/she strongly prefers to work alone or be alone rather than in the company of other people. The "right" response depends on the situation in which the results will be used. Human behaviors and personalities are not the same from one day to the next, let alone throughout a person's entire life. Also the job application and interview process one where both sides are putting their best feet forward. So if an applicant really wants the job, he/she is going to do and say whatever it takes to convince the prospective employer to hire him or her. This objective is also going to influence how they handle any so-called "personality tests" they encounter in the hiring process.
Personality tests can be perplexing due to ambiguous wording. "I never find myself not completing my tasks on time." Wait, what? Then ten questions later "I always complete my deadlines adequately." The second is easy while the first is perplexing but they mean the same thing. This is trickery and too often creates contradictory results. THEN if it isn't bad enough you get "I'm never at my best in the morning." Do I disagree with this meaning I am at my best in the morning, or do I actually agree because I'm not. Confounding verbiage is maddening.
Thank you! 🙏🏻 I’m watching this because I’ve gotten to the 3rd interview a couple times, at jobs in my expertise, and have failed these tests and gotten turned down by answering honestly! 😡 I do account management, including sales. I’ve gone to college and got a business degree, and have worked in these fields for over 20 years! F**k me, I hate that it comes down to these god damned stupid tests! 👊
Thanks so much for this tho! I have a personality test for medical interviews and I really really need help! Hope someone can give me some free advice 🙏🏽
The unfair world question is tough. Answer "strongly agree" on that one and they might think you're a psychopath that might come in and shoot up the place due to a perceived injustice on the job.
Q11 the contradictory thing about these tests is that, often you hire someone into a junior role in the hopes that they will climb the career ladder into managerial roles one day. Now in the shoes of the employer again, do you want a future manager, or a forever junior subservient employee?
What do “daydreaming” questions measure on a personality test? I got 3 of them....”I seldom like to daydream” “I like to daydream” “I find myself daydreaming often”
"Compliance is a valuable to most employers." More like "compliance is the only trait my a**hole employers ever cared about." All love though :) On a real note, this video was very helpful!
Seen this video and attended a test for a leading bank in UK. I have cleared the round and funguses crossed for rest of the rounds. Thank you so much Richard ☺️
Thank you- felt reassured that my answers fitted the requirements - no real difference between what I would put and the answers given. I feel reassured.
Did anyone REALLY need help with this type of questioning? If so, lying to get the job wont help you if you REALLY DO have personality problems, sudden anger fits, inability to work as part of a team...etc.. You are just setting yourself up for failure on the job.
or maybe we’re not robots and we have feelings and reactions and most working environments are often abusive whilst expecting you to paint a smile on or else…
For a lot of these questions, the honest answer with respect to the workplace would be a totally different answer from what would be true in a social setting.
HI, Thanks for a great video. I like the way you have presented this content in a crystal clear manner and also your instruction to keep the job in mind when answering really helps. If i were to take your que for this question as an eg " I get nervous talking to people i dont know" and respond as False then sooner or later this would get noticed while on the job. So my advice to those answering as False (when in reality its true for them) is to take note of this question and ensure something is done to overcome the nervousness when talking to new people (as an eg) so that you are not in a spot once the job is yours. This is how i would answer the mock personality test. 1) Strong agree. 2) Strongly agree. 3) Strongly agree (bit unclear on the intent of this question). 4) Strongly agree 5) Strongly dis agree. 6) Strongly agree. 7) Strongly agree. 8) Strongly agree. 9) Strongly agree. 10) Strongly dis agree. 11) Strongly dis agree. 12) Strongly agree. 13) Strongly agree. 14) Strongly agree. 15) strongly dis agree.
I’ve been searching all over for help with an online test for a job. I’ve failed it twice before. This video is going to help me tremendously. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
22:46 Isn't it better for companies a worker who has a realistic view when approaching to new problems or situations? I think it could be considered as a person who accepts the facts, even if they are negative, and who can create a solution that can solve that negativity. I mean, we always come up with difficult situations and it's better to acknowledge and address the problem or negativity rather than just let it slip by.
So it's like lieing to yourself at some point just to work for someone 😅. I hope it won't come back at you later in the job with much frustration tryna conform to what you not.
Dear Sir, Your Video was so valuable to clearly understand how to answer those personality questions. I learned so many things which I did not know so far. God Bless you ...!
So my opinion is if you just answer based on what the employer wants to hear, you are lying. Therefore, you are successful in getting the position but then your true colors come out and the employer is back at square one. So what's the point?
Ive taken several of these and I think they ask the same questions reworded several times to try and flush out the truth. they know people are less likely to answer honestly about a negative personality trait.
Well I’m confused! In your previous video you ticked FALSE next to the question “We live in an unfair world” and it this one you did the very opposite?🤷🏼♀️
Hi Richard! Loved your videos and it did help me in preparation for my test. Just to let u know that in my PAPI test they served 7 possible answers/responses; Strongly Disagree/Disagree/Slightly Disagree etc . Perhaps your future video on personality test could factor in this variant. The toughest question i got just fyi if you’re curious is; I would never tell a lie! That stumped me! Had to ask SiRi for help LOL 😂
@19:33 Question 5: I work best if I am working in a team How about for a manager or director post? If I agree, it's saying that I can't think by myself to make decisions? And if I say disagree, it's saying I work best if I'm alone and that I don't like to work with people? Excellent video by the way
I literally answered all these questions as you suggested on my assessment for a project manager role, this recruiter had the nerve to say I fail and can’t reapply till 6 months later. I don’t understand why !
I like how I was worried if I was doing something wrong but when I watched this video it’s exactly what I was doing. I like working alone: true or false My answer would be true but I’m forced to put false. Pretty much doing the opposite for most questions lmao.
Hello, Hope all is well at your end?I want some information about a test which I have required for a job and test name is International Psychometric Cognitive Emotional score (IPCES)).Employer want me to take this test online from some international Invigilator. Anticipated Thanks
