I'm preparing to take my test here soon. I have my degree in Applied Science, so I've got a leg up, but man, some of those questions are random as hell (like the formulas). But it's either continuing to work these shitty jobs or breaking free and perusing my dreams.
I got certified with ACE Group Fitness Instructor a few months ago. It prepared me to be a little less stressed for PT which I'm going to start studying for and this video was super helpful. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice, I have been stressing so much over knowing EVERYTHING in the Essentials of Science textbook, spending hours and hours making flashcards, writing up summaries, cutting out diagrams and charts, etc. etc. even after already having a pretty good foundational knowledge about human anatomy and kinesiology. I have felt like I have needed to essentially MEMORIZE this stuff because I have heard mixed reviews about the exam so far so thank you for listing what IS important and what ISN'T! VERY helpful :)

Phew! Having a background in fitness I finally decided it was time to pursue a career! I had managed health food stores in the past and was certified through the gyms I worked at (their little clinic certifications). I too, didn't pass my practice exam (like 17 out of 30?) but it was mainly terms I wasn't familiar with and some illnesses or diseases I never had personal expertise in. I feel a lot of it was centered around liability issues and doctors clearances. I'm particularly worried as I have issues with cognitive focus and concentration. I hope my medications come though or it's nootropics for me!!
Thank you for your in depth explanation of your studies and your exam. as someone who has spent countless hours in the gym over the years this video is a great reminder of how much hard work and understanding goes into being certified, congrats again on your certification.
Definitely feeling super unprepared for this exam since I've followed this course to a T like you said and have STILL FAILED all my online quizzes (not a great test taker) but thank you for your honest feedback/recommendations! I feel a lot better about what to focus on before the exam etc!

Thank you for this video! I think its frustrating over the amount of time I have spent over the exercise science book and not on the rest of the materials. Obviously they would not provide you a book that is not relevant, but at the end of the day if it is not on the exam, It would have been nice from the get go ACE would integrated the absolute essential knowledge required into their online course to minimize stress and confusion. So glad I found this video. I am taking the exam in May & that small book has been stressing me out. Will set it aside after the nutrition chapter and just focus on the main book!! thank you!! saving this video to watch again!
Kevin Williams yes! It was super helpful! I passed! The exam was easier than I expected based on how much material it is. Really understand building rapport with your clients & the stages of learning & know the reps/etc for whatever your client is trying to achieve (ie muscle hypertrophy vs muscular endurance etc) know how to progress your clients, know the basics of nutrition how to read a label etc, they also show videos and ask how you would modify the client based on their form etc Hope that helps! Can you retake the practice exams once you take them? That was a really good idea to take 1 practice exam first to see where you were at and use it as a direction to study and stuff!! Such great information! Thank you! I got my ace stuff! And will now be studying! 🙏🏽
Your video was very helpful. I took the exam on Jan 8th, I almost did not finish the exam because of those video Questions I had like 4 video questions on the Bend and Lift movement screen, and 4 video questions on the Shoulder Mobility assessment. I was surprised that the math questions were all on the Nutrition stuff. I sadly did not pass, and I am retaking the exam on Wednesday.
I passed it on Wednesday! I got some of the same video questions for the assessments which helped a lot, and some of the other questions were the same! I felt like I had more video questions on this test but oh well I passed.

I just watched your video and I'm hoping to test within the next 45 days. The video helped with info and building confidence. You mentioned ACE has an interactive page for identifying muscles. I can't find it and was hoping you can help? I did find many ACE links discussing muscles, but not one single page for reference. Thank you.
I am stuck with anatomy. I am thoroughly reading Essential Exercise science and it is so much. All the muscles and its original and insertions; hormones and etc. So hard. I will try to just go over it without learning muscles by heart. I will pay more attention on Manual Trainer book.
I take the test in a few hours and I made some major mistakes already: 1. I did not buy the course and study materials, I bought just an exam voucher and the textbook 2. I thought you had to immediately schedule the exam, so instead of 6 or 8 months max, I had a little less than 2 months from the time I bought the exam to study. For anyone in the future, don't do this!!!
I thought we had six months to SCHEDULE it. We schedule it within 6 months of purchase. so i could schedule it within the 6 months for 6 months from that date. RIght? ANd yes it is overwhelming and I have a bio degree and I am oVERWEHLMED!

She said you dont need the EES book, meanwhile thats the 1 im stressing over😭😭😭 lol but they did say its only gonna be 10% of the exam, but its important to go thru it first

I am basically looking to acquire knowledge (and get certified) so that I can design (fitness & weight loss) home workouts for virtual training and RU-vid channel. I do not have any related education but have 15 yrs of experience of workouts. Could you suggest me any course that comes at a reasonable price? I’d like to do it more for passion than profession.
I have a question, on the internet it says that in order to take the ace certification exam you require cpr and aed certifications, if i only have the cpr certification can i still take it? Thx
No one ever checked to make sure I had my CPR and AED which I though they would! So you might be fine without the AED but I would eventually get it so you know how to use it

Travis James I just looked up movement screens and watched trainers analyze clients! There were a few on RU-vid but then I really focuses on going through the charts over what muscles are tight vs. weak depending on the deviation or what happened during the screen
To be completely honest I didn't look into their program that much so I'm not 100% sure of the differences! I mainly was between NASM and ACE because those are the most widely accepted around my area!:) If you google the different programs I think there is a chart that breaks them down!
