I bought my bike 2 months ago and taught myself how to ride. It's incredibly easy and I got the freeway and drove an hour home from the dealership. If you can't pass this coarse you don't belong on a motorcycle of any kind. It's easier than driving a car tbh. Luckily here in Cali you don't need to take this coarse but it does help get a discount on your insurance.
This course helped me to be more vilant on the trike. This is my first time riding on this machine. Hope to pass my class and the test. Thank you for that information on the book i will look inti it.😊
In many states the motorcycle and 3 wheel courses are FREE, and you can even take them multiple times. If you're at all interested and this is an option, do it! Oh and don't get a death grip on the throttle on the avoidance swerve, that always causes some interesting results :)
I have my course in just two weeks (signed up for the eClassroom option since I'm an hour+ away from the location) and this was really insightful! I'm excited to see how the range portion goes. I'm hoping to ride a Ryker (that what I eventually want to purchase for myself) but my feelings won't be hurt if I'm on a Spyder.
Took my class today and the writing course. You are spot on with what first day was like. I'm buying a Can-Am Ryker 900 Monday.. I've always wanted to ride but always thought at 4ft 11in I couldn't ride anything. This I can ride!!
I have mild cerebral palsy. My balance isn’t good enough to ride a 2 wheel motorcycles but I feel like I could ride one of these with some practice. I don’t even have my drivers for a car but I’ve been thinking of getting my motorcycle license for one of these.
@@JacobMinger if you can drive a car you can definitely learn how to ride this. In some states if you have your drivers license you only need the 3 wheel endorsement. The motorcycle license is harder to do because you would need to do it on an actual 2 wheels. #vincode17
So as a BRP trained instructor, I can see where you left out some basic safety procedures. If those are not exhibited on the “celebration of skills”, sorry but I would fail you.
Thanks for watching, obviously this video isn’t the full course explained in every waking detail (which would make for an extremely long video), more so a summary of what to expect when going so people are more prepared.
flip or skid the bike? dude most of these courses are 10 min in a small parking lot where you do no more than 12-15 mph. don't freak people out this is way easier than basically any test ever....
At least for the Can-am specific and sponsored course, it’s two days with hours of class and ride time. Flipping and skidding are rare, but it’s possible, especially if you have an inexperienced rider.
The manual will say about 400. Performance on the bike will differ based on the engine. Also you may have performance variables you'll need to consider (acceleration, stopping and handling). The bike will hold you with no problem though. Enjoy!
The instructor I had wasn’t really interested in the students and didn’t want to be there. I past the exercises but didn’t do as well on the third one. He then cut me loose without any explanation.
On my to test this morning. Dont know what bike ill test on but feel even more comfortable after watching this video. 2 day testing Ill keep you posted and thank you so much for dropping sone great knowledge.!!!
Hi..i.go for my text Aug 10-11 in georgia..thanks for the heads up.. I am.nervous even though I been driving 40 yrs in a SUV..wish me luck..i.bougtt the 900 Sport and will.be picking it up.after i.pass my test..This is my RETIREMENT BIKE to myself..lolol
On the seat test was 4 exercises for me. Star/stop after reaching a cone. Avoiding an object after acceleration. Turning inside cones. Maneuvering around cones left to right at almost 90 degrees. Make sure they know its a 3 wheeled motorcycle. I was failed initially until they realized what I meant When I said its a 3 wheeled motorcycle. These machines are new to a lot of highway patrol officer testers especially in the Midwest. I rode mine to the test and they didn't say anything. Also, you can't miss more than five questions on the written portion but you get a of couple chances if you do. Don't take the CANAM course save yourself money and study the free motorcycle handbook every state offers and use common sense.
At least where I took it, the riding portion of the class counted for the riding portion of the DMV test and the classroom portion/test counted for taking the DMV written test. So all I had to do was take a course completion card to the DMV and have my license updated with the endorsements 🤷🏻♂️. You don’t HAVE to take the course, but if you are getting a Can-Am I would still recommend it. It teaches proper skills in a controlled environment instead of just learning on the street. There is nothing wrong with learning on your own, but for beginners or brand new riders the course is the better and safer option.
The MSF manual can be found on Amazon, I would just search “MSF Course Manual” and find the one directly from the MSF. They are updated every year or so, so the cover may or may not look the same as mine.
i currently own a spyder and i am trying to get my endorsements. My class is in three weeks and i am looking forward to it. Thanks for the video as it was very informative,
@@TheGonewiththewind7 The requirements for getting a car driver's license in most of the development world is considerably more difficult than it is in most states in the USA. It is likely more difficult than get car license and meeting the requirements for legally operating a three wheel motorcycles in most of the states in the USA. Note that every USA state has different requirements.
Very good information. Here in the UK I was unable to find anyone that gave Ryker training. I have taken things slowly and a couple of day did over 60 miles and enjoyed every minute. Thank you for your time.
Absolutely fantastic video. This is so helpful. I’m going to get a Ryker 600 as it’s learners approved. I’m 23 and from Australia 🇦🇺 this will become my first vehicle. Not sure why I want to get one instead of a car. I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before but thinking I’ll have to start somewhere. Thanks for the video
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! The 600 is more than enough power for a beginner for sure! Don’t let the sales people tell you otherwise! And always wear the correct gear my friend! If this is going to be your only vehicle I recommend getting hot weather gear, waterproof/rain gear, and cold weather gear. The jacket I wear serves a dual purpose, it has a zip out insulated liner for when it gets cold and it is also a waterproof jacket.
I’m a member of a motorcycle club. With this club you can ride or not, but if you do then the 1%ers will listen to you more. My president of the club strongly recommends me to learn to ride so it’s important to me. I don’t quite anything till I succeed.
Have a question, will be taking my 3 wheel license class in missouri at end of sepptember 2024, nervous, wanted know about written test for first time.
The written test is not bad. It is almost verbatim from what is in the book, as long as you study a bit from the book and/or take notes in class you will be fine.
Bought my Spyder RT limited about 2 months ago, take the class on Tuesday & Wednesday this week. Calling for rain, guess we will get to practice that type riding as a bonus.
Thanks for stopping by Kenneth! I had some rain on one of my class days too. It was an interesting experience. Gives you a chance to see what rain riding is like and how it affects your bike and your vision through a visor!
great video! i just got a ryker 900...only had chance to ride it twice so trying to get used to everything. I love it tho and hope my test goes well! thanks for your very informative video!
You can usually find it on your local Department of Revenue website or you can search the book directly on the internet and try to find to the PDF version. Hope this helps!
I have a training course this weekend and this video gave me an idea of what to look forward too. I plan to get the Ryker 600 😁 thanks so much for this content !
I can only speak for Missouri (you would have to check your local laws in your state). In Missouri, if you have a regular motorcycle license you are fine to ride 3-Wheeled, if you do not have a motorcycle license at all then you have to get a 3-Wheel endorsement. As far as the difference, you are more stable, have better stopping power, you don’t have to worry about falling over or counter steering in turns (I could go on for a bit). I really enjoy my Ryker.
I’m having trouble getting my passenger seat off. I turn the key and pull up on the seat. Only one side only comes up about 2 inches. I took off the trunk I could see it better but couldn’t get it to come off. Your help would be be very appreciated 😊😊
I struggled to get mine off, there is a lever underneath to pull them a button push out of the seat, then you give it a slight push/bump, pushing towards the steering wheel. It will pop right off.
Just got my learner licence on a 2 wheel scooter in NSW Australia, at present we are still waiting for the licence people to approve the testing method for Ryker training. I OnGot my new 2021 Ryker and took it for very first ride, Awesome and so easy to ride. I loved watching your video and look forward to seeing more of your videos. You have a great straightforward and too the point description that is easy to understand. Great work
In my opinion (always best to consult an MSF instructor as well), I try to keep the hole between two tires if possible (left front and rear or right front and rear) so that way one tire is not taking all the blow and/or you can avoid the hole entirely if it is small enough. Other than that, it is best to practice situational awareness (scanning near and far, left/right) to avoid finding yourself in those situations. When it comes to DEEP potholes, it is very hard to successfully run over them without damage to the bike or you. I hope this helps my friend, ride safe!
Thought that this video was very good. It gave me some insight about the way the Can Am preforms. Will continue to look for more information and hopefully I will be able to find a class that is available in my area. Thank You
I’m glad you found it helpful my friend! Thank you! 👍🏼 If you like the content, please consider subscribing!! I do new videos each week! It would be a great help to the channel and would help it grow!! 😁
Bought my Ryker Rally a few weeks ago. Have a 2 wheel endorsement already. Taking the three wheel course in a couple weeks (required in WA). Loving the Rally!
I rode a Rally in my course! Currently own the 600! The Rallys do have a lot of getup and go! I like how it sits a little higher too! Good luck on the course!
I will taking my test next month in St. Louis they had no classes in my state when looked it up but I want the f3 special and thank u for the lesson on riding
Great stuff KC. Taking the course at Maplewoods in July. Once you successfully complete the course (get your certification) is there anything else you need to do to get your license?
Hey Dennis! Thanks for stopping by the channel! After I completed my course (and passed both written and riding portions), I was given a Course Completion Card. I took that card to my local DMV and had them modify my license to show my endorsement. Make sure to bring the proper paperwork to renew/update your license as well. (My state had to have the usual SS Card, 2 proofs of residence and some other forms of identification, check your local DMV checklist to make sure you have it all👍🏼).
That’s a good question Jay. I’m from Missouri and we have to have a 3-Wheel Motorcycle endorsement or a regular Motorcycle license. You may have to contact one of your local DMVs or local Dealers for specifications. I could not say as to whether or not you need a certain license because I am not familiar with the laws in your area. Good luck my friend!
I think any motorcycle is decent for congested areas like the city (especially NYC). It’s better than a car due to mobility and maneuverability. As far as 3 Wheeled Motocycles, I would suggest the Can-Ams for sure. They give more stability than the one in front and two in rear styles. You also have to weigh the risks in riding these too. You don’t have a “cage” around you like riding in a car. You also have to think “what if someone cuts me off and I have no where to go since the traffic is really congested” or “What if someone tries to beat the light behind me and we are at a dead stop (and doesn’t see that) and someone hits me”? These bikes are very fun to ride but as with any Motorcycle, traffic can get really sketchy when it gets congested and people get irritated. You just have to be safe, wear your gear (A.G.A.T.T) “All Gear All The Time”, and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Thanks for this! I'm taking my course at the beginning of April to get ready for my 2023 Spyder RT Limited! I have read the manual a few times, but I will look for a PDF of the class manual. I've planned a lot of rides, but I'll start small and local to build my skills and nerve!
Glad you enjoyed it Brian! And yes, building skills and confidence is key. I started with short in-town trips, then on service roads, then got comfortable enough to go on the highway!
@KC KNIGHTLY Thanks as well for the quick reply! With the weather trending toward spring, I almost can't wait! All of the local rides I've planned with Rever I've driven, so I'll be ready for the road at least.
My lessons are end of November. I’m wanting a Can-Am Spider but not sure, except for videos, if the two wheels in the back are equal to two in front. Any feedback?
Good question! 2 Wheels in the front (like the Can-Ams) are a lot more stable and have way less of a chance of tipping over when going around a corner. 2 Wheels in the back (like a Harley Tri-Glide) are nice looking but have less stability due to only having one wheel in the front. They both have their purposes and places in the motorcycle world. I just prefer the Can-Ams because of safety and style. 👍🏼 hope this helps
That’s a great option for a first bike. I would also like to point out that on the R3 there is no slipper clutch so it may not be as forgiving on shifts as maybe a Ninja or CBR would. Hope this helps!
Hey Glenn, thanks for stopping by! I would recommend taking the class! It helps you develop your skills and improve on ones you already have (if you have other motorcycle experience)! There is always something to be learned. It is also easier than trying to schedule the test with the DMV. When you pass your class you get a completion card and you take that to the DMV and just get your license updated (make sure you bring proper paperwork to the DMV for updating your license)! Hope this helps!
I take my course on July 15 and 16. I went though Can-am learn to ride. I had to get my permit from Ohio first before taking the class. The only place that I can take the 3 wheel course is in Kentucky. They sent me a link for the book this week, so started going over it have it saved on my Onedrive. So I can view it anywhere.
That’s awesome that you have the book saved! It’s a good piece of study material before the course! It’s crazy how you have to go to another state to do the course! But it is worth it my friend! Good luck!
@Simplelife22 easy man, nothing to it. I'm sure you have completed the online part of the basic riders course. They will go over most of that. As well as you will get on a ride and do basic maneuvering. IF anything difficult, it was the weather. It was a very hot day, but all the same it was fun. best of luck I know you will be fine.
@Simplelife22 dude, that's Terrible! I'm sorry to hear that. I guess it depends on the personality of the instructor. I will say, I got lucky. Did you pass it? Onwards, have you thought of getting the bike??
Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad the info helped you! I hope you enjoy your new ride and the course!! Great Summer weather is right around the corner!
I’m considering the Ryker for commuting to work. I just signed up for class in two weeks. I’m excited to see how it goes and buy the bike should I enjoy it.
You will definitely have fun! As far as getting to work, think about commute time and if you would be comfy on the Ryker to work and back. If not maybe test ride a Spyder and see if it would be better. Thanks for coming by!
I live in MS and I’m looking to get a spider f3 limited they have a 3 wheel rider course on the coast can’t wait wish me luck by the way I’m 68 yrs old
Taking it this weekend in Lynchburg VA 😁 Ryker🤞 It's been in the 60s-70s.. Saturday, 1st day of range exercises 49° with a 90% chance of rain (possibly turning into snow). I have frog toggs but it should definitely make for an interesting first day of riding....cold but interesting lol.
@@VinCode17 It rained, then hailed, then snowed, then sleeted rain mixed with snow the rest of the 7 hours we were out there. You can literally hear it in the video. I called it the soundtrack of our first day 😆 It was miserable as there was nowhere to escape except the trailer they kept the Can-Ams in, which was not heated, but I said if I can drive in all of those conditions (basically all of winter in one day), I can drive in anything 😆

Taking my class room on zoom and then going to driving course few days later just got my Ryker rally 900. I'm ready to learn it. Thank you for all pointers. Wish me luck
I’m taking my 3 wheel motor cycle course in December 2021. I’m tired of how expensive it is to drive a car . I’m learning how to ride.. I found a pdf version of the book.. Thanks . Great Tips😊

Getting ready to take my class in Hudson, NC this weekend! Just wondering, how do they split the classroom and riding time? Is it all the classroom stuff first, or is there a mix of both on both days (for a 2 day course)?
That’s awesome Kyle! And the way mine was split up was on the first day it was classroom first and then we went out to the bikes and then the second day we started on the bikes (took the riding test portion at the end) and ended with classroom time and the written test. It averaged about 4 hours classroom, 4 hours riding per day.
I mean buy whatever you want. This video was for the Canam course and you knew that when you clicked the video (as it is clearly stated). Thanks for the comment and the click though bud. It helps bump me up in the RU-vid algorithm.
Thanks for stopping by. You are actually my first comment about the music. If the music doesn’t appeal to you or you have issues with it, you can always skip or slide past the B-Roll (cinematic sequences). As well, there is also the volume buttons/volume slider on the RU-vid website and app itself. Hope this helps and have a great day!
@@TheGonewiththewind7 Or your editor might check the decibel difference of one scene to the next against the overall average. The music was well chosen just too loud. I watch educational material lightly the first time and had to stop what I was doing so I wouldn't wake or irritate the neighbors. Watched the show through to the end and found it took much of the edge off my April class. Thanks for you effort.
I appreciate the feedback and it is great that it helped ease some concern about the class. I will try and keep track of the decibels. I am a fully independent channel, I do all the videography, editing, and mixing.
