Today, I decided to share a technique that allows you to patchwork any pattern and fabric of your choosing! So you could make patchwork shorts, overalls, pants, you name it- as long as you have a pattern to work with!

Wow they look awesome. I'm usually not a fan of pattern matching but here I think it works great! I often piece my scraps together to make garments, but I don't sew much colourful stuff so usually the end result is just an assortment of different black fabrics with an occasional charcoal grey 😄

@@eliminatorjr oh I just meant using multiple different patterned fabrics in a garment (or multiple patterned pieces of clothing in an outfit, for that matter). I guess a better way of wording it would be mixing patterns? Idk 🤷

You're the first person I've seen to do this. Create a patchwork fabric, then cut the patterns out. Lay and stitch on preexisting clothing articles makes no sense to me. So I've done the patchwork fabric.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I got hold of a bunch black denim and was planning to upholster an ottoman with it. Because I didn’t wanted this “oh look at me I used to be jeans” look. I thought of cutting a bunch of 2.5 x 2.5 inch “quilting” squares, sew them together and use that to upholster the top cushion.

If it’s pants or jeans- you’ll have to open one of the side seams so you can lay it flat.
