Did you know: putting a pinch of salt on the fruits makes them taste even a little sweeter and is good to balance the energy of yin-fruit and yang-salt. Just like one puts condiments with meat-same idea: meat-yang codiments-yin.

@@Steve-Owens some Oranges are big.. Thick and wide walls. and it just breaks in half.. i will say it is easier to do it that way.. It just does not fold out like the one you had. it would have to be a specialty orange smaller ones with thin peel..

I said no way to the second one where you use the bottom of the spoon to peel it. So I ran to the kitchen and I tried it... I was freaking amazed... Thank you so much for this knowledge.. I eat multiple oranges daily. And always having to scrub my hands because they're orange colored afterwards. You made my day so much easier. Thank you thank you thank you!!

here in the uk the only oranges we get from imported sources are one with really thick, leathery skins. there's now way these methods work on those suckers mate. the ones you were using were ripe, thin skinned varieties that are more like satsumas or clementines.

Steve's Kitchen I tried both methods, however I prefer the spoon method and the kids love that they have a little bowl to put their orange slithers into, I would love to see if you had another way of cutting a mango, thanks again!

In the first method he pre-cut the segments before opening up the orange. That’s why there was a break between the cut to the middle and the opening out. I tried it and it doesn’t work.

I tried it and it does work. No pre cuts. If you followed it properly, it should work and I found out that the oranges come off of the skin easily. One thing to mention that, once you cut both sides and then in the last cut, pull both sides of the orange as if opening a book but not too hard if you want to make a mess. Do the same procedure with the big pieces and notice how they split into two again. You can take the orange right of the skin too.

It worked for me, but the segments were holding together pretty firmly and it definitely didn't come apart nearly as easily. I guess it depends on the orange. You might just get lucky sometimes.

Look easy and neat but I have to be sure to get those small oranges with thin skin/peel instead of those big ones with thick skin/peel; I doubt they can be piled the same way... ^^;;

2nd method is fantastic. Here there are two varieties of oranges. In the skin hollow variety it is possible. But the juice variety you can't do that.

For so long i thought mandarins and oranges were different because mandarins were naturally split into wedges while oranges weren't. Thanks to this video my eyes are now open and I understand that both citrus fruits are split into wedges. What a day

Pick an easy peeling orange like a Tangelo or Navel and do it the old fashion way.. Heck , if you look cross eyed at a Tangerine the peeling falls off or so it seams like it does. At 76 and being around orange groves all my life I'm sticking with the old way. Besides that's what thumbs were made fo , forcing the rine from the orange. The other benefit is that your thumb is always handy , might say ... Standard issue. .

Tried the second method , my orange peel was so thick, couldnt move the spoon properly, so much juice was coming out , i twisted the orange. And it just split with the pulp still attached, so i had to eat it like an animal in the sink , ill try to peel the other half properly,. Nice video

I'll try the second method later. if you think anybody's gonna try out the first method and cut off that much of orange now that they cost over 60 cents a piece. forget it. i used to get 10 pound bags back in the 80's and early 90's for under 5 dollars in orange county CA.

Peter Spurgeon yea in my country we call it a mandarin and its very different from an orange.its sweet and very easy to peel and much smaller with thinner skin.
