Colin as usual you go in-depth on a feature we ALL need to know for our standard workflow with masks, the intersect tool is so helpful!

Nice one Collins! I usually do all my masking in Photoshop, but anything that can help before sending it to Photoshop is a real plus. Very helpful tutorial.

Once again, a very helpful tutorial Colin. I didn't realize that you could use luminosity to refine a ACR mask. That's why I'm a big fan of your tuts! 😊

Great way to fine tune a mask. Also I never thought of going back and forth between the mask adjustments and main adjustments.

Colin could you explained the difference between “invert” and “duplicate and invert”? This is a very helpful tutorial. Thank you!
@davidf6326
@davidf6326 2 года назад
Invert simply swaps the masked and unmasked areas - you still have only one mask. Duplicate and invert creates a new mask which is the inverse of the first, such that you end up with two masks. As a simple example of a use case, say you wanted to sharpen and increase contrast on your subject and maybe reduce noise and slightly desaturate the background. First create a subject mask and apply the sharpening and contrast increase, then use duplicate and invert to create the second mask. Select the newly created mask - which will include everything but the subject - and apply the noise reduction and desaturation.

This seems like the right answer but Lightroom doesn't seem to be responding to luminance mask changes ): Maybe my video card just isn't gonna cut it on this computer.

It only worked on the main deciduous tree left of the building. The edges of the row of the conifer trees still had large halos at their tops.
