How to perform simple AACHAMAN ?
However we take bath with soap and shampoo but for doing pooja and archa - vigrah sewa, we need to purify our body with through mantras that is called AACHAMAN.
Before aachamna we should take bath and have proper tilak.
Material required - 1 glass of fresh water and one aachaman cup, and one spoon.
Process - After taking a small glass of water pour it into a aachaman cup and by the middle finger of right hand and keep left hand on it then chant the mantra
gange ca yamune caiva godavari sarasvati
narmade sindho kaveri jale ’smin sannidhim
Now this water is purified and having the potency of seven holy rivers.
Then take this water we should first wash our left hand and from left hand take some water on right palm and wash and then again take some water and chant
Om Kehsvaye Namah...
Om Narayanaye Namah...
Om Madhvaye namah..
Om govindaye namah
and drink it. Then again wash the hand. Follow this procedure thrice with the mantras.
Finally take some water on right hand palm and chant
(om) apavitrah pavitro va sarvavastham gato ‘pi va
yah smaret pundarikaksham sa bahyabhyantarah sucih
Now, we are pure as much as brahman and we are ready to start our diety worship.
