In this video I spent some time with renowned Melbourne based artist, Mysterious Al
Here is a behind the scenes look at how with only a very inexpensive hotshoe flash, you can make beautiful, very crisp, natural feeling portraits.
Special thankyou to the man Mysterious Al for having me in his space.

didnt know godox made that trigger. the ergomonics on it looks way more better then the other 2 versions. Photos turned out good. I personally would have just stuck with natural light and save myself time setting up and messing about with stands, lights, triggers and spend that extra time and energy on different angels , compositions, actions. especially for this room. the amount of gear and effort is not worth the results this is just my opinion :) I personally only whip out lights if lighting conditions are really shit

Some valid points Kwa. I think I probably could have done much less and got 95% of the same images. But in many ways I think that extra 5% is sometimes what gives the shot that little something special. The goal for me is always to make it look like "a better version of natural light". It's something I really enjoy doing too :)

(and I much prefer this style of trigger, it's perhaps a little less intuitive.. but i've found it more reliable and I think it looks cooler too!)

@@PJPantelis in saying that. i need to shoot with flash and triggers more. but Why i shy away from it is because i feel like it ruins my flow when its poping off and sometimes i have a very happy trigger finger >.< the subject might be like "wtff im gonna have a seizure "
