I think I measured 7 repetitions of ornate... but my incredibly annoying neighbour fell off his roof extension and the laughter reverberating through every pore of me temporarily killed my attention. Please don't ask me whether he was ok... Someone screamed so I think it was all in hand. Amusement aside, GH has got to be one of the most natural RU-vidrs out there. Not only is the education aspect of his content generally superior to other photography channels (Fro, Northrops, Kai W, Manny Ortiz and numerous others)... his natural and engaging humour elevates the experience. So much more professional, even when he isn't trying. Grumpton is always a great addition as well... even if it's just a mention.
I learn English watching your videos, Gavin. Thanks for the word 'ornate'. The number of times you mentioned it helped it sink deep into my memory. This word will live with me forever now along with ''magnefiqwah' and 'refleksion'. I hope this is the right spelling 😁
I really like this image. For some reason the post process work seems a little different than the way you used to do your trees and forests in the fog in the past. I think it looks more real and there's no strong distinctions in the photos stacking or the blendings. Also I like that you left a little more shadows and strong distinct contrast lines in the foreground tree rather than raising the shadows too high. I think it's a mistake that a lot of people make they're afraid to leave shadows in the imagery. I think it looks more real and appearance intends to give it more of a moody look. Great job!
I counted 8. But I was completely distracted by you wearing Amanda’s blue top. Whilst there is nothing wrong with your magnifique physique, I couldn’t quite focus on the shots, or even what you were talking about because your moobs were burning my retinas out. For that reason, I probably need to win one of your creations! I don’t mean partially digesting Indian either!
Great video of a fabulous woodland the fog really does bring out the character of old trees they tell a story the way they seem to interact with each other giving a chance to get some great images and just being able to enjoy the experience with your lovely lady Amanda as always great video class photography thanks Gavin
I bough 4 Easter eggs this week and hid them in the garage. Nice and cold in there and out of sight, or so I thought. I found a Twirl egg box and a large Galaxy egg box in the recycling. When confronting the wife little did I realise it was my fault for buying them in the first place so she told me. "If I know it's there I'll eat it", she said. Fair play, I thought. I never ever tell her when I'm buying camera gear. That is is an unwritten rule in photography circles. First rule of photography, What the wife doesn't know can't hurt you.

Great video! One suggestion for when you show the photo.. hold it still in the video, don’t Ken Burns it. Harder to appreciate the photo if it is moving about…
Excellentay . Really like how you cropped the oak tree that's touching the ground (you said it may have supported itself at one point). So you get the width, but lose the empty foreground.
Maybe it's just me, but that tree could be a potential winning entry..maybe landscape photographer of the year 2022 eh? ...you didn't let Adam shoot that tree too did you?😂 The character in that tree is unremarkable.
I'm wondering....at 10:58+ if you play around with the hue and saturation, the blues (fog) might 'pop' a little bit more? Just keep an eye on the sharpness as well.
Another great video, Gavin. Thanks for taking us on your adventures! I'm curious to know if, with that 50mm f1.8 lens, did you capture an image wide open at f1.8? The info display on the back of the camera was showing f13 when you were explaining your composition. Just curious is all...I would love to have seen the bokeh created with the foggy background. Did Grumplestiltskin get lost in the fog? Cheers!

Dear Gavin I’m a great fan of your work etc…But ! After you told us mere mortals that we should always be looking out for “ shape & form” My locality has become even more bloody boring!🤯 There is simply nothing interesting within 5 miles of my home! Adding into the recipe of completely crap lighting and nowhere to get sunrise or sunset compositions? I’m seriously considering moving to 🇨🇦 lol 😝It’s no wonder why all the local photographers websites are either Wedding or Train 🚂 enthusiasts! I live in Cheshire and the nearest point of interest is at least an hours drive!!! Good luck with your new year’s journey and your new house 👍🫶

A great video...I had never thought about focusing on one tree and have the background blurred out...genius! You two really make watching these videos fun...really a great team! The reaction on Amanda's face when you were sniffing/licking the Aero paper was simply priceless!
I do believe there was a baker’s dozen of “ornate” in the video. Chocolate, don’t you just love it, I live across the road that once was the center of the Galaxy (See what I did there) for Cadbury’s chocolate. Yeah I know neither Galaxy not Aero belong to Cadbury’s. But it’s the glass and a half that counts…

I really liked the old tree you were shooting, but the video captured something that could have been truly remarkable if taken as an image. Perhaps, if you get fog again, you could revisit it. At 4 minutes and 6 seconds in, thereabouts, the angle of the video shows what looks to me like a "Great Tree Elk with super large antlers" looking down upon the three younglings. Yeah, I know, Monday Night quarterbacking here, but, since you like to visit places multiple times, you might be back in the fog :O
I think your second shot of the Garry Oak was awesome, that 55mm f1.8 was a great choice ! probably one of the best woodland shots you have done, I bet grumpy was, well grumpy when he saw that one !!
What a perfect setting/video for a lazy daylight savings Sunday. We had some cool fog/frost recently in Calgary that I took advantage of for some car photography. Definitely wish we got more fog here. Great Video Gavin!
