Thats what I’m talking about! You are filling a huge void on the tech RU-vid space. Quality content and passion, that’s what I’ve been missing. Thank you
I just found your channel last week and love your content! I am a 32 years old high school drop out that made bad choices when i was younger. I recently finished my High School diploma and signed up for college to get my AA in CS. I also have no experience with coding but always wanted to learn and understand how these things work. After watching your videos it give me so much hope that i can achieve my goals if i put in the work and hours. Thank you
Your content is pure gold. I am so glad I found your channel when I am starting to build my skill set as a software developer by building side projects and open sourcing them. I am still building my foundations and would be soon building much more relevant projects that actually solve a problem or one that I personally am very passionate about. Most of the videos I saw on side projects ended up recommending building apps like simple TO DO list etc. But when you gave that idea of scanning the bar code to check if I had an item in stock before buying it or the dog proof sprinkler system, I told myself, "Now this is the kind of side project I would love to build". I instantly subscribed to your channel after watching the video. I am so looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Make the application which hand-talk the captions or speach. Basicaly translate normal speach into hand talk for the people with hearing disabilities. So that every RU-vid video could be translated, or radio, or TV movie. Or... like the app which listens the surrounding and visualises that on the screen. So that deaf people could stick the tablet on the kitchen wall and to hear dog barking, cup falling off the table or door bell ringing.
You are soon gonna be a big RU-vidr soon. Your content and video quality are too good. Plus you have a lot of experience in software engineering, so you are never gonna run out of content. Keep Hustling. I am preparing for FAANG, I hope I will be there soon enough. Thank you for this informative video.
I usually don't comment. But your videos are pretty much next level. Please keep them coming. This is the first time, I goto a channel and look for videos, instead of yt recommending them. Great job.
When you work on a project , every feature you put into it ,you feel really excited and you show it to everyone , they don't get your excitement .but It's a really good feeling
i am a nigerian and from northern part of it.so,i have an idea of a side project which is developing a venue booking app which is absent in the region.
starting on learning how to code and such, your channel is so pleasing and very motivational. i will definitely be using this channel to help my journey on becoming a software engineer.
watching your videos motivate me more than anything else to become a better software developer. I feel like you are my future self giving tips on what to do. Thank you so much. keep making more videos and keep making our lives better
U are awesome man... Came to know your channel today in the morning. When searched "Luxarious life of software engineer 😂" and your "A day in the life.." (probably the title was something like this) came up. Your channel is very informative. Already applying the "25 min concentration and 5 min break" strategy...
@@EngineeringwithUtsav The strategy is great. Doesn't make me feel stressed. Also I can understand my progress and how much time it takes to do something.
Thank you for opening my perspective in this topic. Just finished my studies and waiting for my graduation. I would consider doing a side project in the mean time while looking for job opportunities.
Brother, I saw your first video last day and I'm kinda stuck here... referring this channel to my friend's, this is the content I was probably looking for but didn't know 😊. Usually people do not have actual understanding of software engineering. they are in void without having iota of idea. Thanks man.. Keep helping
Wow that's a hard question. I suppose I always liked building stuff, and was a sucker for "immediate gratification" of some sorts. Compared to other fields, being an engineer, it is super easy to get something from concept to reality... even if you are all by yourself, and just with a computer, internet and some grit. I suppose that's why I got lured into it ... and the more you do it, the more you want to do it ... it's addicting :) Cheers!
@@EngineeringwithUtsav thanks but i was more referring you know after hearing about how you failed high school two times and then you had that shift. So i was referring to that shift, what was the turning point or what pushed it. Not sure if it makes sense but if the above is the answer is fine just wanted to know more on that mental shift. Thanks
Ahhh... okay, I misunderstood. So during high school, I wasn’t really into academics. I still loved CS and did a lot of projects. In fact, my cousin who was going his final undergrad CS project would ask me for help, and I was only in high school. But when it came to other things like Chemistry and Social studies and all, I had little interest. Haha, I just wouldn’t care for it and ended up failing. I was also a lot into music at that time and we had a lot of band practice and shows, and I thought I’d be a musician haha. Clearly, torn and conflicting priorities. But eventually a lot of my friends ended up leaving to study abroad and went to top schools and I think that’s when it hit me that maybe I need to do this college thing. So studied for GCSE (A levels) exams and passed it and come over to study here. The rest is pretty normal stuff haha .. school, jobs, a couple start ups (maybe I’ll make a video on this one) ... :) Hope this answers your question. It wasn’t a great moment of epiphany, just evolution from a carefree high school kid, to someone who decided to become a bit more focused...
Unfortunately, I don’t have much insight into non-SWE roles. Personally, I think QA is a shrinking job landscape, esp. with things being ML and data driven
My two cents about side project is that, work on something that can financially sustain you if you don’t get the job. If all fails, you have that project to help you. And quite ironically, this type of indifference is what attracts companies to hire you!
Hey I got this idea like when someone goes on vacation... People generally don't know the area well and which places to visit... We tend to hire some tourist vehicle which take us to places... But what if there can be a site which takes in info were u are going to stay and give you a routue map... U start from ur place go to these places in sequence in a circle and come back at ur at the end of the day. And these routes are on daily basis... Like u r going to stay for 3 days 3 different routes can be provided... What do u think about this idea? no personal details would be stored u just need to enter the place of stay n days of stay. So we can travel using public transport saving a lot of money for budget friendly travel.
Congrats! Think of side projects as your sanity -- when you don't have something to work on, or when you don't have interesting things to work on. If what you've go going for work are both interesting and challenging, no reason to work on side projects if you don't feel like.
This is great advice! Found your channel today and I am glad I did. Watched a few of your videos and found them super informative! Hope you keep making great content for us. On the topic of side projects, I recently made a site which has popular coding interview questions from different platforms, with my solutions to them, so that I would have a single place where I can refer to them. It has most of the problems I felt have useful concepts which can be used to solve other problems too. What do you think about this project? I learnt quite a bit from it, as I implemented Authorization using a third party application, which allows only the admin to add/edit/delete questions, learnt flask, a unit test framework and SQLAlchemy with PostgreSQL. I'd love to hear your honest thoughts and advice on this project
Definitely a great side project! What takes it to the next level is - are you the only one using it, or is this useful to others? If you can get others to use it and find it useful, it not only covers some key tech, but also becomes useful.
@@EngineeringwithUtsav Thanks for the reply! I think people will find it helpful if they have limited time to prepare. Will try to get other people to use it too 👍
Hi Utsavized, first of all thanks for share your knowledge, I have seen all your videos, I enjoyed them. Coding, health, personal growing , tech , cooking...you touch topics that are very interesting for me. I am software engineer and I am working in a startup and I am in the journey to get a job in a big company like Microsoft, I am preparing my self. My most experience is in Js (nodejs) and ruby on rais. Do you thing that is mandatory has experience and knowledge about dotnet framework in order to get a job in Microsoft? Thank you.
Hi Ivan, I just uploaded a new view talking about the Microsoft interview process... please check that out, it should help answer your questions. Thanks for checking out my channel! :)
I have another question too, do you feel we should focus a lot on competitive programming, on platforms like codeforces, participate in lots of contests, until we get a good rating? This will certainly help during the interview, but does it also help in landing interviews?
I am generally partial to competitive programming when it comes to being a better software engineer or even for tech interviews. That being said, if it interests you, I think it is an amazing way to build up problem solving speed and intuition. The downside is that your main focus will be on solving fast, which doesn't lend itself well to real life coding -- esp. when it comes to code clarity, readability and maintainability. Or even for interviews, where you have a conversation and approach cautiously vs. pure speed and muscle memory. Ranking may help you get noticed, but then you'd need a pretty high ranking I think. But in general though, I think it is a positive thing. Anyone that does competitive coding as a hobby loves coding, anyone who loves coding has a higher chances of being better at it ... so I can't see how that could be a bad thing. Just be weary not to pick up any bad habits from competitive coding that could adversely impact your real like coding.
I have 2-3 years of experience and would like to work bit extra, but cannot decide if I should focus on building side income or improving my skills for getting promoted/hired to a higher role in a big company. Any advices?
Hello! Thanks for checking out my video. I try to limit my LinkedIn network to only people I know directly, but if you are just curious to look into it, you should be able to find me with the same name as this channel.
I started doing a few that people asked in my IG DM, but now I get too many requests and most of them aren't in a reviewable state. So I created a Petreon tier for that: www.patreon.com/utsavized ... my goal isn't to charge people money, but to 1) filter out people who aren't serious and 2) throttle the requests so I get just enough that I can actually review well and give feedback. I may do a generic video on tips for resume ... but resumes generally tend to be very specific to individual circumstances so hard to give generic advice
I'll be joining my college later on this year most probably, and I'm still at the early learning stages of Python. Is it possible for me to be at least a little seasoned before I enter college
@@EngineeringwithUtsav Thanks mate, also one other thing, I've been experiencing certain lacking in effort to do coding or just laziness to be frank, is there any way to get myself motivated to get back to grinding again that you could recommend, maybe?
@@hmeister8463 Ill be honest with you, you are the only one who is in charge of your motivations. You know yourself best, so you will have the best idea on how to get going.
Hey man gonna build that shopping software though very soon. Have pinged you on Instagram regarding project, please check dm. Btw kudos from india 🎉 Btw headsup i made a similar project to dog sprinkler in like January 2020 using arduino and IOT 😅
