So Blair I am an eleven year old East Coast skimboarder. I am so happy you just made this video because I am currently at the beach where I got a new skimboard a few days ago. Now I know that the size I got was good for me. Your videos are awesome by the way. Thanks Blair
@Goncalo Fonseca dude I live in Pennsylvania and skim in the grass lol I would get one if you enjoy stuff like this, they are fun I use one and ride behind our boat and when we go to the beach in destin Fl.
my first and only board was wood it has caused me a lot of pain especially in my shins i pulled my calf muscle twice in a day and im just trying to get my leg fully back same day that i pulled my calf muscle both times that board hit me so hard in the shin that i had a bump as big as a golf ball it was amazing day
I live in oregon and grew up making my own boards. It's been about 15 years and grabbed a beginner board to get back into it. Any suggestions on shape or style for this area? Thinking of using the one I grabbed for some urban ridding since it's a low quality wood. Any advice would be helpful
Im 5’8 im using skimboards with a length is only leveled on my waist and can pull some tricks. To all who is 6’5 an above you can still ride small boards trust me
I live in Ontario Canada is it possible to get into the sport all the way out here? I’m very new to the sport but it looks so fun!! Please leave any feed back you have!!
im ten and I don't know what board to get I've been riding for 1.5 years and I am on an old woodie and I want to get a good board would a 48"and im ten and ab solely love your vids and can you do a video about size and age thanks :)
I'm looking to getting a corbon fiber board, I'm 6ft. 185 pounds. I'm still learning how to ride a skimboard, but I want something more long term. I'm totally okay with struggling with a pro board, I just don't know what to get. Any suggestions?
Hi, I cannot find the exile kids boards to purchase. I check on a few sites and amazon already. I need a board for a beginner, he 55 pounds and 53" tall.
Blair you gotta grow the hair out like machado it would be perfectly you’re like the style master of skimming the same as he’s the style master of surfing
Hey Blair I’ve been trying to get a new board because I’m 6’2 200 pounds so every time I try to get out to a wave I just lose speed and start sinking haha I’ve been skimming since I was little so what do u think the best board for me to get is
Im 5’8 im using skimboards with a length is only leveled on my waist and can pull some tricks. To all who is 6’5 an above you can still ride small boards trust me
Those Ex0 ride really nice... I rented one one day that my board was being repaired and I got my real first wrap and ride back to shore on it... was quite impressed by it
I got a wodden board, and i got super excited about it. I've got speed wax stomp pads for it. After watching this video, I realized it was small for me. It only touches my belly 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don't think it matters that much with a woody as it's more flat land skimming, when it comes to waves you need the surface area. I could be wrong, either way still get a lot of fun out of it 👍
Love your work! Been here since 4K subs😍 finally understand skim boards a little better and about to buy a new 3 boards soon just because I love to build a collection to use in the surf of Aus!
Love the content you guys are putting out. I took a long hiatus from skim boarding (12 yrs) and looking to get back into it again. Blair explains everything about skim boarding so it is easy to understand. If they had videos like these and the tutorials think I would've progressed more. Thanks 🙏 and keep pumping out great content!
Good informative video. I’m bummed I never got into skim boarding. At age 53 and after some dirt bike riding injuries skimming isn’t an option anymore, but I get stoked watching ur beautifully shot videos. Keep shredding !!
Bodyboard! Us older guys are good at laying around - catch a wave lying on your belly! I picked up a South Bay inflatable bodyboard. 48’ long and super buoyant.
@@MrDino-hp7fyHey Mr Dino, we got almost the same last name, I'm one letter off... are you Italian? Romanian? Never thought I'd see another Dino surf clan member.
Good beginner start vid. Ya gotta address rocker "and" shape working together next. 3 boards, one flat, one banana and one flat with big nose rocker are gonna be completely different boards witht he same shape/length. I prefer a flat board with lots of nose rocker, normal length, kinda wide pin tail, but not round. Good for long distance connection, long liners, slow mushy siders and when i put my rear foot back super huge onshore mashers. Unless manufacturers have an adjustable table, they don't like to make them.....lol
My first board was a large vic foamie. Did well for me while it lasted. Exile hybrid shape was my next board, then a pro shape. Today I'm riding a grape skimboard and loving it.
Been Into surfing along time so I moved to Cornwall in slowly getting board of it and I've been watching your videos for a while now I'm think of giving skimboarding a go but I'm not sure what to buy as there isn't many shops in Cornwall that do skimboards 😒anyway keep up your cool videos and keep up the beach life
I can second your comment about wooden boards hurting A LOT when they hit you. I remember wiping out and not knowing where my Victory board was. All of a sudden a large, fast wave broke and my wooden skim board dug ran right into my right knee. Thinking it was a bad bruise ended up being a large gash. I was still boarding for 30 more minutes thinking it was a bruise. I didn’t even know I had the cut until I was drying up and a waterfall of blood ran down my leg.
I'll probably do the same. Just so I don't have to buy another board once I want to get into the waves a bit more. I can just progress from the sand to the waves.
Just started watching your videos before this last weekend and when I was londboarding to my lifeguard stand in Dewey I saw you coming off the beach from the comp. I wish I could have told you thank you for all the awesome videos
Here’s the thing I love Skimboarding, I’ve been doing it for a couple of years but the skimboards I have I don’t think it’s meant for the water. So I am inbetween advanced and experienced so what skimboards do u think I should get( I was thinking either the pro or the hybrid)
hey what beach are you at? This suggestion might break your budget, but if you have smaller waver, like coco or Melbourne beach, the dude cruise is a good option. If you get higher waves, like on the west coast, i suggest the blairacuda. I absolutely love the blairicuda. My custom blairacuda got delivered today.
Hey mate, I am 5’10 and 230 lbs. I am certainly a true beginner. I have attempted skimming but rented what you described as an Expert board. lol… I fractured my shoulder, wrist an elbow. I bought a Woody, but it’s only at 40”’s. So common sense after watching your video I need an Exile EXO 52” with pads?
I love the look of the Exile boards, even the EXOs. Unfortunately I live in the UK and the shipping on these things is like the same as the actual price of the board, which is way too much for me, so I am stuck with the rubbish UK brands.
