I'm at 31.5" per the wrist measurement. 31" feels too short. 32" feels right. I have the strength/speed to swing a 33". I was mostly a contact hitter but after a couple years in the gym I'm crushing balls at 5'7" 190lbs. I'm going to pick up a 32" and a 33" I think the only way for me to decide is to play with them both. Thank you for the video.

Can you add a clip showing me, as a t-ball coach, what I might see if a kid brings the wrong size bat? I can't do a bat test every time a kid comes to the plate during a game. Maybe a few common errors of when the bat is too heavy, too short, too long, etc. Thanks!

I'm 16 years old and I'm 5'10 32 inches is good for me but the weight 29 I can't control so what should I do get a shorter bat because most adult bats are -3

my son is 10 years old 4'10 80lbs..we went from a Easton Mako 30 inch -12 to this year a Mako Beast 2 5/8 barrel -10..he has great bat speed with last years mako. He actually hit 2 out last travel season. I bought the Zepp 3d swing analyzer and his bat speed is consistently about 5-7 mph slower with his new bat. Im worried he won't be able to hit as far with this slower bat speed. Or do you think the bat being slightly heavier would cause him to hit it even further?

This is just superb, been searching for "baseball hit and run vs. run and hit" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Penonnor Baseball Babaco - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.

Bat speed far exceeds a heavier bat. You need a good balance between weight and speed, but always error on the side of speed. ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

For my son who is in coach pitch baseball, would having the lightest bat for it's length be paramount? He is six and slightly built.
@ProSpeedBaseball
@ProSpeedBaseball 9 лет назад
JASON CROTEAU Hey Jason! Thanks for the question! As a rule of thumb, at any level of the game, you want to have complete control over the bat if possible and always error on the side of too light. On the other hand there is the "swing as heavy bat as you can while still being able to maintain COMPLETE control" side of it as well. The biggest thing is you want the player swinging the bat and not the other way around, even if it means having a bat that is a little too light. Hope this answers your question, if you have any further questions on this or anything else don't hesitate to let me know! Good Luck! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Hey I’m 11 and I have a 31in bag it’s a -12 and 19oz 2 1/4 in dia EASTON S600 and I think I need like a 29-30 maybe bc my hand falls like 5-6in down the bat but I think if I get one that goes down to the right spot it’s going to be a pretty small bat and when I do the thing to see the weight it’s really hard to pull it back up to the top sooooo what should I do?

I'm 5'8 120IB Very skinny guy. Do you recommend a 33inch or 32inch? Both feels equal.
@ProSpeedBaseball
@ProSpeedBaseball 8 лет назад
At the point where they feel equal, it's purely preference. You have more leverage the longer your bat gets and you have less weight the shorter it gets. You just want to make sure you have complete control over your bat. Whichever length you feel most confident with! Hope this helps out! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I'm going to be a senior in high school next year and I'm planning on buying a new bat, but I don't know if I should stick with a 32 inch and go to a 33 inch because I feel like I out grown it. To mention my height is 5'8. The weight of the bat is no problem for me. I just don't know what size to get.

Go with the bat you have control of and/or are comfortable with... There are 6'5 pro guys who swing a 32! It's all about what gets the job done. If you check out the video we released last week: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OpeAinpaXdI.html You'll see that length of bat doesn't matter in terms of hitting the ball solid! Hi Buddy,look at a lot of your videos already,lots of drills,I can't remember,will have to revue them! I am about to start coaching the coaches and players at a club.Need lots of these drills,etc. I have a question or two: After you load and stride,and now you decide to swing,.....what is the first part of the body that moves toward the turn onto the ball? I hope that is clear? I made my stride,I decide to swing my toes are still facing home plate....maybe my front foot heel is slightly still off the ground and hasn't quite landed yet..the front foot will land completely at 45% after that...then what moves first ......the whole body turns,the lower trunk and legs turn first,while the shoulders wait till the hips are partly already turning....or the entire front side turns...etc??? The second question,I keep hearing to line the middle knuckles up.....yet when I watch the pros,as far as I can see,most of them have the top hand mid knuckles somewhere between the heel hand the base knuckles, or even on line with the base knuckles of the heel hand ? Which reminds me of a third question: I have a problem with my top hand wrist role over....especially if I aline my middle knuckles to each other. Besides I have a low thumb....that is I can easily make an l shape when opening my hands using my thumb...and straightening out my other fingers and palm.Another words the handle of the bat,when I grip it,has too much room between the base of my fingers,my big palm so that when I grip the bat,my top hand wrist is almost ready to wrist role,before I make contact.Lining my mid knuckles and my my long palm with a low base thumb.....I find it hard to avoid rolling my top hand ....and also I find it hard to hold well the handle of the bat ,because I have to much space between my thumb even when closing to a fist? I hope that is all clear Stephen

+Stephen Dufort To answer your first question: There is a huge difference between what actually happens and what FEELS like is happening. That being said, what most hitter want to FEEL when the stride foot gets down, is that the first move is the hands going towards the ball. Second Question about grip: Ergonomically you will want what most instructors call "door knockers" on top of each other. This puts the hands in the optimal position to use the hinge joints in the wrists for maximum release (aka speed) What you see when watching high level hitters is them gripping the bat comfortably. Yet, 99% of them re-grip the bat as they swing into a door-knocker over door-knocker position. This is achived because these hitters have very relaxed and good hands. I would suggest getting comfortable with the door knocker hand positioning to avoid and extra movement in the swing. The third question is a little difficult to understand, but I think I got it. Regardless, the best place to hold the bat handle is in the fingers of the hand. The bat will, ideally, not sit in "U" that is in-between the thumb and fore finger. The thumbs will simply act as stabilizers. This is why a lot of hitters utilize the Pro Hitter (rubber piece that goes around thumb) This rubber piece allows the bat to sit up so that it doesn't fall into that "U." Hope this make sense as well! If there's anything that's unclear or if you have any other questions, just let us know! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I have a question can you use a soft ball bat the same way
@ProSpeedBaseball
@ProSpeedBaseball 8 лет назад
Absolutely! It's all based on your specific anatomy! However, if you're talking about slow-pitch softball, things get a little different considering we don't have to worry about velocity anymore. Hope this answers your question! Thanks for the comment! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

Hey I'm 13 (5'3 120 lb) and play at a very high level. I have been hitting with some wood for practice and middle school ball (very competitive) and I play all lot of 14u and 15u travel ball baseball and swing a bbcore. I swing marucci pro cuts (32 in and drop 3) i swing one handed every day and swing with 34 in bats in my cage but I'm having trouble doing the forearm drill with my right hand (top hand and dominant hand) any ideas why and how I could fix that?

My son is 5'10" around 140lbs. Currently using a 32" drop 3. I feel like he needs to come around more and faster in his swing. Would a 31" be better? I know he used a 31" drop 5 last year and was crushing the ball. He was probably the same size and same weight. Thanks

Hey Joe, thanks for the question! Whenever young athletes jump up in bat weight, there's always going to be some sort of difference. It is the same as going from swinging a wiffle ball bat to a regular bat. The weight is an absolute variable. So he's gone from swinging 26 ounces to 29 ounces (at 32 inches). Three ounces doesn't seem like much, yet at this point, it's quite a bit. Swinging the 31 will put him at 28 ounces, so it could help out minutely, the issue is the added weight overall. My recommendation is to experiment with both. Whatever he feels more comfortable with would be the way to go. He's just going to have to get used to swinging the heavier bat in general. The main thing that we need is control over the bat. If we start to compensate our swing for the bat, bad things tend to happen. Hope this helps out! Im looking for a bbcor bat so i cant choose the weight i want to use a 30/27 -3 which is the standard so what do i do about the bat control if i cant chose the weight

Only older leagues (high school and beyond) typically require BBCOR -3. A 27oz bat is light to most people, but if it's that much an issue for you, there are 29/26 -3 BBCOR bats.

I’m 14. A freshmen. Just now wanting to play baseball for school. Couple years ago I bought a 31 inch now it’s too short in my opinion. Just too stubby. Then I went to Johnny macs and measured everything. Didn’t have a 33 inch. I’m talking wood bats by the way. So I got a 34. I have complete control and can handle it. I choke up a little bit so really it’s around 32 from my hands to the tip. It’s also ash wood so it’s a bit lighter not heavy to me at all. But people say it’s too big for me. I’m 5’6 and 132 pounds.

Side note. I’m only using this bat for workouts and training in the cages. I will definitely look more into it when it’s time for the season.

I play baseball for my high school freshmen team and I am 5'4 and 110 pounds and I read a chart that said if your over 64 inches than you should be swinging a 32-34. And I swing with a Easton SpeedBrigade s200 and I've not had many problems with it so do you think I am good or should I go smaller.Thanks.

How do you pick the perfect glove for each position?
@ProSpeedBaseball
@ProSpeedBaseball 9 лет назад
***** Thanks for the question Adrian. Picking a glove is more of a personal thing, yet there are general parameters you can follow such as using Catcher, Outfield, and First Basemen gloves in their given positions. Infielders and pitchers (3B, SS, 2B) generally use smaller gloves for quickness. So from there it is just up to you to pick what you like and what works best for you. If you have any other questions on this or anything else just let me know!! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

DooDoo advice. All of us want to swing 34" bat..some can't. Bat shape can matter C271 vs C243, etc. Swing a 34" if you can, if not, swing a 33". For me at 5'10" I go 33" if I can and swing 32 for someone really bringing the heat, but that is a significant compromise. No one gives two sheets about knob to wrist or any of that other crap. Have you ever played baseball? 34" for anyone 6'3 and under. 33" for most of us mortals. 32" for 2nd basemen and those under 170lbs. So funny you are trying so hard with this advice.
