This is surely the best itinerary I did spiti in this June following the same itinerary. And I got all the information from your blogs . Thanks for such useful information.
Ek dum bhai, video list mein hai vo bhi meri. Almost 40 videos ki list hai bhai Spiti k bas soch raha hu ki kaun kaun se club ho sakte hain taaki saari information jald se jald share akr sakun sabke saath :)
Thanks for the information. I would like you to make a video of the stay options and booking process in the places you have mentioned. Thanks in advance🙏
I will try to make it, meanwhile here are two links that can help you: devilonwheels.com/spiti-valley-homestays/ and devilonwheels.com/good-hotels-accommodation-spiti-valley-kinnaur-valley/
My queries for a road trip, self driven couple, to Spiti Valley. Wish for easy relaxing trip- Shimla side. 1. Most suitable month for trip. 2. Is KIGER (Renault) car good for the trip. 3. Do you get mechanics on way. 4. How to book hotel accommodation for stay.. 5. Should one carry food and petrol. Thanks. Col Verma (Retd)
Here are the replies: 1. Best month will be after 5th September. 2. You can take that car but then you need to be careful on the Manali Kaza road. 3. You get mechanics till Kaza from Shimla every few 100 KMs but between Kaza and Manali/Solang there will not be any mechanics. 4. For stays options in Spiti Valley, please refer following: Good Hotels/Stays in Spiti Kinnaur: discoverwithdheeraj.com/good-hotels-accommodation-spiti-valley-kinnaur-valley/ Good Authentic Homestays: discoverwithdheeraj.com/spiti-valley-homestays/ 5. Food you get on the way at most places and Petrol, you will not get between Kaza to Manali.
I have become your fan for the way you share detailed information... My Mind has changed and i am planning to go from Shimla side... Planning to start from Chandigarh in morning where can i reach and have night stay... Awaiting your guidance...
Thank you so much bhai, means a lot to me that these videos are proving helpful. It is a good decision to go via Shimla side and since you are starting from Chandigarh, you can probably make it to either Narkanda for easy drive a stretch a bit to Sarahan.
As of last week Leh dc office was still issuing Permit and asking folks to do so. I believe on the new rule more clarity is yet to come so it will be safe to apply it. All this if you are talking about Ladakh. For Spiti you never needed ILP being Indian.
Dheeraj ji bahut helpful video hai aapki kaafi help millegi travel karne walo ko☺️🙏 Solo travel 10 din me puri ki jaa sakti hai without own vehicle or car...?
yes Lokesh bhai, kari ja sakti hai.. isi series mein aapko aagay episode milega jismein aap kar sakte ho public transport se spiti trip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sAWVo5vfYNo.html
Thanks for such a knowledgeable video. I always look forward for your videos and rely on these posts. Can you please suggest good clean and hygienic but eco homestays on this route. Thanks
Happy to know that Ravi, well, till Kunzum Pass you do not need the ePass but for visiting Chandratal Lake, you will need to apply for Chandratal ePass
Dheeraj ji..What is possibility winter travel ( November last week)Simla to kaza ..and what or how much distance can go spithi from Simla side…easy risk less travel…
First of all, thank you very much for these informative videos. We are planning to visit mainly Spity valley from Chandigargh. Our plan is for 7 days, like Day 1: Chandigarh to Sarahan (275 km) Day 2: Sarahan to Nako(~175 km) night stay at Nako Day 3: Nako to Kaza (~115 km) Dhankar Monastery, pin valley Day 4: Kaza side scenes (Langza, ki monastery) Day 5: Kaza to Chandratal and nigh stay at Batal Day 6: Batal to Manali (~110 km) Day 7: Manali to Chandigarh (~280 km) Is this plan possible? please suggest me.
Here is my suggestion: Day 1: Chandigarh to Sarahan Day 2: Sarahan - Nako - Chango (Nako may hit you with AMS, so sleep at Chango) Day 3: Chango - Tabo - Dhankar - Pin Valley - Kaza Day 4: Kaza - Hikkim - Komic - Langza - Ki - Kibber Day 5: Kibber - Chicham - Chandratal and night stay at Batal Day 6: Batal to Manali Day 7: Manali to Chandigarh
Thanks for making this video. It's very informative! Can you share your opinion on doing Spiti in April end/ early May? I understand it will have to be from Shimla side. Would most places you mentioned in the video be accessible? How about Chandratal? What can expected in terms of the weather and road conditions? Also if one wants to do a relaxed visit and not shift accomodation every night, what are the best places to spend 2 nights in and soak in the surroundings? Appreciate your help!
Early May, it may be possible that even Chandratal is also accessible as snow is less this year but nothing certain as you know with these places. Weather will be fine in May but cold in Spiti especially with morning and nights and high villages. How many total days do you have in hand?
Thanks for the reply@@discoverwithdheeraj Yes, you are right about the weather. Yesterday I spoke with a homestay owner in Kaza and he said there has been less snow this year, so he expects things to open up sooner this year. But at the same time I was checking AccuWeather and it was predicting snowfall during end April. So one can never be fully sure about the weather in the mountains :) We have 8 days in total. Starting point is Chd. I am hoping to spend the second night in Tabo or even Kaza if possible. So taking out 4 days for two and fro travel, we will have 4 days to spend in Spiti valley. The goal is to spend time in places that allow for a bit slow travel experience with great views, light walks/treks. I was thinking of Pin valley as well, either Tailing or Mudh. The other place could be Langza or Ki/Kibber. Definitely want to avoid staying in Kaza though we will visit to check out the bazar. Will appreciate your suggestions and guidance on this rough plan.
I am sorry, I missed it. Well, you should stay at Tabo first before Kaza. Then go to Pin Valley after visitng Dhankar. You can stay further ahead of Kaza at Rangrik and make it the base.
Bhai I do not sell any tours. If someone tells you otherwise, they are fooling you under my name and I have no relation to such people. Good detailed video @dheeraj. I hv one qus like , in year 2022 what is the best month to follow ur first itinery, means going from shimla and coming from kunjum-rohtang-manali.
Superbly Explained, I really appreciate your help. Can you please help like, what are the bais cost of food like, maggi, momos, omlet, local dish any round figure rates because you visit there. If have that idea so we can plan our budgets of food which is very important. In last after seeing your video I am satisfied and happy to many vedios from your playlist. Keep rocks, All tbe best 👍
We are planning for spiti valley of 7 days with below route -- Day -1 - Jalandhar to Rampur 340km Day-2 - Rampur to - Nako 185km Day -3 Nako to kaza 115km (off road) Day -4 kaza local explore Day -5 kaza to chandertal lake 100 km Day 6 chandertal to Manali 111km Day -7 Manali to Jalandhar Is it good plan to go? We are not going to chitkul
Hi sir thankyou for the itinerary.. inam planning to visit the 1st itinerary in 2nd week of oct. Will it be fine or the road (kaza - manali)will be closed? And 2nd ques is do i need to hire a personal car or there will be local transport or traveller during 2nd week of October? Looking for a reply.. And thanks for this video 😊
It should be ok, just that before leaving Kaza check the weather update and then leave on that route You can get in touch with local taxi drivers for bookings, link on my blog. Local transport will also be there but limit your ability to do sightseeing and take pictures on the way. Plus some places you need to rely on hitchhiking
Hai Dheeraj jiii very useful information 🙏🙏🙏 just want to know normally how will be the road and climate conditions in second half of August Can we complete the circuit from Shimla side?
Well, traveling to Spiti via Shimla side helps a lot in acclimatization but idea is that you go slowly like described in the itinerary in the video. Plus you all must be hydrated all the time properly and avoid sleeping at high altitude places like high villages and Chandratal lake to be on safe side with kids and adults. Also plz check Q30. Can I take my 5-10-year-old kid to Leh Ladakh trip? [Ladakh Trip with Kids] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--nhWSSkQJjc.html It is made for Ladakh but quite applicable to any high altitude place
I am planning a trip to Spiti in May end this year. Your video said to proceed from Shimla to Sangla on Day 2. If on Day 2 I go to Sarahan from Shimla via Narkanda, will that be practical?
Thanks dheeraj bhai... Plz share us if we wanna camping with family after Delhi... Where is the safest places for self camping with our own tent in spiti as per your itinerary ...
Plz check this blog as it will take couple of weeks for me to reach this topic of camping in Spiti Valley devilonwheels.com/camping-in-spiti-valley-kinnaur-valley/amp/
Thank you for the wonderfully explained detailed video Dheeraj Bhai ... I'm a avid follower of your blogs and it helped a lot during my Ladakh trip I'm going to visit Kinnaur Spiti this October 2nd week.. will follow your 1st itinerary, only instead of Delhi it'll be to and from Chandigarh as I'm travelling from Kolkata Can u please help with an estimate of taxi cost approximately?? From Chandigarh will take Volvo to Shimla.. but from Shimla till drop at Manali I have to arrange a car with some well known driver, I've got some references from your blog... Just wanted to understand the budget for taxi
Thank you bhai and so happy to know that my blogs and these videos were helpful. Budget will be around 3800-4000 per day bhai if you hire experienced drivers from Kinnaur and Spiti who have experience of driving in these hills. However, the drivers from Shimla may come cheaper like 3300-3500 per day but mostly they have less experience of driving in Spiti Kinnaur routes.
I need your suggestion.... I am planning a group tour from 7 - 17 October. So, as I saw your video you suggest to visit this whole circuit during the first two weeks of October due to snowfall on 2 high passes. I just want to ask this - 1. Shall I start the tour from Manali - Kaza - Shimla because I will be starting in the 2nd week of the October and I better cross main high passes in first 3-4 days. 2. Is it possible to do this tour in 5 days, including 1 or 2 days trek? 3. Which is easy/moderate trek you suggest on this tour? Please suggest. Thanks.
Here are my inputs: 1. That is a good way to do it. Usually first two weeks are generally OK but if you do it that way, you take the risk out. 2. It will get rushed buddy. Treks you can do in Spiti Valley. Like a day or two village trek in Spiti after you acclimatize. You may do Langza to Komic.
Hi Dheeraj...very helpful video. We are planning in June ...can you suggest some stay options in pin valley Mud village, Langza or hikkm etc small villages & their contact . The clipping you used taken in which months. Julley Thanks

Hi Dheeraj, This is wonderful video and it helps me alot to plan my itinerary for Spiti circuit. I want to ask you that I have planned this on my bike and I want to stay in my own tent. Can I install my tent in anywhere in itinerary or is there any restriction on some areas for camping? Looking for your quick response. All the best for your future videos👍
Except at the Chandratal Lake, there is no restriction to pitch the camp in Spiti Valley. At Chandratal Lake, you can pitch them at designated camping sites only. I am working on a detailed video right now and will also be publishing tips for camping in Spiti Valley next week :)
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you so much for your quick response. I'll wait for your upcoming video so I can get some more information of camping in Spiti Valley and get my doubts clears by your video. Keep the good work up ..👍👍

There is one at Tapri and then Reckong Peo. You should not miss to fill tanks in one of these two and then you will find one at Kaza only which will be like 200 kms away considering detours.
Chetan, most of the road from Shimla to Kaza is in pretty good shape. Then from Kunzum Pass to Gramphu on Manali Kaza road, that section is pretty much like dirt track and river bed with non-existent roads. That section is suitable for high GC cars only.
Amrinder bhai, aap is video mein jo pehla plan bataya hai maine usko follow kar sakte hain. Agar aapke paas 9-10 din nahin hai to mujhe batayie main aapko itinerary suggest kardunga jitne din hain aapke paas.
@Dheeraj Sharma Thanks. Hope we can do Kalpa - Mud - Dhankar - Kaza in one tankful. Driving a petrol grand i10 with 43L tank. Also, Hope we can plan a stay in Langza in mid-April.

Great video sir! 💕Just 2 questions: if we return from Shimla side then chandartaal lake is missing from iternary..can we add that too? 2nd question: will there be no problem in self drive small hatchback if shimla route is opted for both ways like inside spiti valley or somewhere in mid of shimla route? Thanks in advance 😁
Thanks a lot Darpan, here are my replies: 1. Yes, you will need one day more to add or adjust to make a trip to Chandratal lake. Let me know if you need help in suggesting for any modifications 2. You should not have much issue in small car all the way to Losar - Kunzum Pass. Main problem is beyond that up to Grapmhu
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks for reply sir...I'm okay with 1st point. Regarding 2nd point: Gramphu will come in Manali route right?..I'm talking about Shimla route and return from Shimla route itself..I hope in that route and inside spiti like Kaza..hikim..Chandartaal Lake..my hatchback will do the job without problems. Please confirm Sir...Thanks in advance.
So till Kaza there should not be an issue. Mostly within Spiti there should not be an issue. Chandratal lies beyond Kunzum pass and there will be issues with hatchback car driving on that route. Mu suggestion is that only for Chandratal lake visit you rent a taxi in Kaza, do the trip come back to Kaza and pick your car to return to Shimla
Sir Aapse Sirf Ek Question Hai Shimla Se Kinnaur raste Spity and return from same route pura explore karna hai time bahut mere pass 15 days, bus ek doubt hai mere pass i20 petrol version hai 1200 CC hachback kya isase main comfortably is toure ko kar paunga.mera pahado ka recent anubhav Sonauli se Kathmandu and kathmandu se Pokhra Nepal and Pokhra to Gorakhpur Pokhra Sarngkot bhi car ko le ke gaya tha.
Agar Shimla side se jaa rahe ho to aapko jyada nahin honi chahiye.. mainly aap maankar chalo jo takleef hogi vo Tabo se start ho jaayegi aur fer Kaza, Langza Chandratal jagahaon par ho sakti hai.. but agar AMS k tips ko follow karoge aur shimla se jaaorge to problem nahin honi chahiye

Hi sir. I'm planning my spiti trip in aug 3rd from Chandigarh. Which is the best route to take between 1. Chandigarh - shimla- narkanda - sangla Or 2. Chandigarh - jibhi - ramphur - sangla ?? Please suggest
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you so much for the information. Can I get the latest information on RTPCR report or e-pass latest updates on spiti travel ?? I'm traveling from Banglore , South India. I'm confused with the mutliple Information on this topic
I'm planning my spiti circuit in September... is it possible to make a 'daytrip' from Losar village to chandratal and again spending night at Losar village..??
yes, easily possible but why do you want to do it? You can easily do Losar to Chandratal, spend good amount of time there at the lake and then go over to Manali and Kaza to save the day, whichever direction you are traveling
@@discoverwithdheeraj Firstly, We have very less experience of himalayan roads and perhaps the road conditions after Losar will not be comfortable..hence we were just planning to take a pause before chandratal Secondly, we are avoiding spending night at lake. Please guide how should we take our plan further. (We will be ending our trip via shimla)
Well, Amit, if you are planning it in September there is no point doing the same route again as MAnali Kaza road, in comparison, is in best shape in September mostly. So, you should not travel back to Shimla to waste days following the same route rather follow the first plan as-is mentioned in this video but with night stop at Losar or Kibber may be. Then doing Losar/Kibber to Chandratal Lake spend till afternoon at the lake and then take the Manali Kaza road to reach Manali or Sissu. Then you can continue to Delhi from Manali or Sissu. I hope that helps. Otherwise, share with me your current itinerary and I Will help you customized accordingly.
Hey , it was a great video, pretty informative ! I am planning to visit Spiti in mid October and I initially want to cover Shimla - Spiti - Manali by Himalyan. Would you recommend to take this route as winters are round the corner and I'm mostly concerned about the chandratal lake to Manali route , I suspect it might get close either due to landslides or snowfall
@@discoverwithdheeraj hey , thank you for replying I am planning on to visit Spiti around the 8th of November. I'm trying to go about Chandigarh -shimla -spiti -Manali . I hope I could visit chandratal lake and make my way Manali from there
@@pratiksharma4204 bhai it will be very risky to travel to Chandratal in this time of the year and so will be risky to travel on Kaza Manali route. I do not recommend traveling up there beyond Kaza after October/middle of October because chances of getting stuck in case of snowfall becomes very high
Hello sir! great itinerary and I’ll definitely be following the shimla to shimla route. Thing is I might only have 9 days instead of 10, what can I remove from the itinerary, considering I want to stay in mud village one night.
Hi , Thank you so much for this detailed spiti valley itenary ♥️ i have a small question regarding Rohtang Pass I just want to travel to Sissu via Rohtang Pass from Manali and return from sissu to Manali via Atal Tunnel the same day (so that i can experience both atal tunnel as well as rohtang pass) . wil i need a beyond Rohtang pass permit ? Will be travelling on a two wheeler .any suggestions on this would be really helpful 🙏
Yes because you are traveling in direction from Manali to Rohtang. It is better that go to Sissu via Atal Tunnel and come back via Rohtang Pass. No permit needed then 😀
Heave rains are pedicted in this week in the lower hills by Met department both from Shimla side as well as Manali side. Hence, I will suggest that if you are planning now, better postpone it to next month September which is much safer
We are planing trip to Spiti valley from Shimla to Manali. And we are planing around 25august 21 . We have Innova Automatic . Can we go to chandertal lake and route from chandertal lake to Manali. Can Innova automatic go through this road or we should take any other vehicle. Please suggest
Innova shall be able to take care of the road challenges. A lot of Innovas run on that route and being Automatic as well there should not be much of an issue as I have taken XUV AMT which did not face much issues.
Yes Gopal it is possible but before leaving Kaza to Manali check weather forecast and avoid in case snowfall or rainfall is predicted and also don’t sleep at Chandratal just visit on the way to Manali from Kaza side
Thanks for this great video. We are planning a spiti trip next week. Was planning from manali but looks like the route from Manali is closed now. Thinking of Shimla route now. Is it open now? And can we rent bikes from Shimla and do this trip?
Yes the route is open from Shimla side.. it closes open due to frequent landslides but mostly they clear it in a day.. NigulSari village landslide point is closed from 11 AM to 1 PM so time your exit from it accordingly
HI DHeeraj I reside at Mumbai and own a Dominar 400, In your opinion what should be better from below two opitons? 1) Arriving chandigarh and renting a bike 2) Transporting my bike from Mumbai to Chandigarh What will be cost effective for me? Any idea?
We plan to do the Spiti circuit in October. We will leave Manali on 26th or 27th morning to chandertaal. Will the route be open then ? Or should we enter from shimla side and exit from shimla itself? Is it possible to to chandertaal end of october ?
Well, like I said in my video on Manali Kaza Road in October is risky to travel especially after middle of October. There are chances of getting stuck due to sudden snowfall more and more after middle of October. However, in the first two weeks of October, even though snowfall can happen and you can get stuck, but probability is less if I compare with second half of October. Hence, if you are traveling in first two weeks on Manali - Kaza road then don’t plan to stay overnight in between Manali and Kaza, which means avoid overnight stay at Chandratal Lake. Go prepared with woolens because it will be cold up there especially mornings and evenings/nights. Carry food and water for at least couple of days. Finally, always check weather before leaving Manali or Kaza for the other side a day before your travel and avoid traveling in case weather predictions are bad. Here is the video Q11. Why avoid Manali to Kaza Road in October or Chandratal Trip in October? [5 Must-Know Reasons] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IL0TysAowJ8.html
Now all this is more of an first two weeks and last two weeks will be pretty questionable if you ask someone like me who prefers safety over adventure anyday
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you so much Dheeraj, we highly depend on your inputs to make our itinerary. We can push our pans to 1st week of October and leave from Manali to Chandertaal/Batal on the 3rd of October. Would that be a better option ?

Well if you are going before mid of October then you can take Shimla side and come back from Manali however if you will be crossing Manali Kaza in second half of October I will suggest to go from Bir Billing Manali and then come back from Shimla
Superb information Dheeraj Sir. I am going to Spiti Valley in First week of October from Shimla side . I am traveling with my wife and 6 year old son.I will be reaching Chandra taal on 10th October . Will there be any problems.
Just check the weather on the day you are leaving for Chandratal lake and also confirm if camps are present or not. Best is to avoid night stay up there due to cold conditions and kids with you. Rest it is doable
First two weeks of October tak to theek hai dost.. uske baad Manali Kaza k beech mein kahin par bhi ya fer Chandratal par stay mat karna overnight.. risky ho jaata hai bahut

Hi Dheeraj great video! You inspired me to do the Spiti loop in September for roughly 2 weeks by public bus / hitchhiking from Chandigarh. First stop would be Sangla (via Shimla). Several Indian bus apps show an ordinary HRTC night bus from Shimla (approx. 9-10 h). Can you recommend such a bus? I am from Europe and not the smallest guy. Is there a chance to sleep a bit? Maybe another option could be to travel first to Sarahan from Chandigarh via Shimla? Do you have any recommendations? Regards
Hello Vau We, Well, best will be to break down the journey. These buses are public transport buses and are hard to book online. So, once you reach Shimla you can take the bus from bus stand to reach Jeori from where you will get some hitchhike/jeep to Sarahan. Then from there you can travel same way back to Jeori next day and take buses/shared jeeps running to Sangla. These two articles will help you from my blog on buses timetable and more options / ideas as Hindi in the video may not be best for you, these articles are in English: devilonwheels.com/budget-trip-to-spiti-valley-public-transport/ devilonwheels.com/make-budget-trip-kinnaur-valley-public-transport/
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks a lot for your fast answer. Do you have any idea about the prices of shared jeeps from Jeori to Sarahan and return? How much people have to embark the jeep in order to start the journey? I think there are not too much jeeps? Regards
As long as you are traveling slowly from Shimla side and reaching Spiti hydrated and are going with full preparation for the kid's needs and have consulted your doctor, from feasibility wise you may take the kid. However, I personally don't recommend taking kids less than at least 5-6 years in these remote areas and I feel the risk apetite varies from person to person.
