Thanks Rob! I like how you keep things simple and strategic. How do you decide whether to have only a one page site or to split up the information and have several pages?
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 3 года назад
Usually a mix of the budget and the problem. As long as I know they will still get a good ROI/great results I try keep the site size to the smallest version possible. People often build a lot more pages than they really need.

I cover things like: - any initial problems we solved when the site went live (the layout is now better for example) - any postive feedback from customers - any bump in sales or results - any specific great outcomes (they landed a massive deal for example) - and anything else the client feels was positive from the website I will do a full video on this soon.

Hey Rob! Another awesome video! This was very informative and shows how to be strategic when creating the layout for a homepage or for a one-page website; My question is, how do we do this for the sections needed for other pages on the website? How do we know what sections should go on the About page, the Product/Service pages, etc.? Do we just reuse the sections created for the homepage? Maybe you could answer this in another video or directly on this comment. Thanks again!
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 3 года назад
For multiple pages you just break down your goals into smaller parts and have a similar plan... so lets say for an "about us" page - what goal would you have in mind? maybe to build trust and to show the clients experience. So you would try have that goal done by the bottom of the page with CTAs to the next step through that page (maybe to get them to check out the services for example) Another video will make it easier to show so I will try get one up early next year on this. Thanks for watching!

Do you get all the content of the site from the customer? Take the FAQ section as an example. Do you ask the customer to send a FAQ with answers over, or do you just wing it with what you think the most frequently asked questions will be? That's the only thing that still confuses me :(

Hey Rob, Great video as always! Just a quick question - did you use a frame to determine what sections to put on the site, or did it come from personal experience? James
@jimour
@jimour 3 года назад
I know that there are frames that are commonly shared in the group (the six-step process and the storybrand frame...), but did the layout in the video come from any of those?
@Prashant0333
@Prashant0333 3 года назад
for me it's mostly from experience and knowing what exact problem to solve for the business- and after testing dozens of websites to see what works and what does'nt.
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 3 года назад
More personal experience with this one. Using a frame is great but always add in your own experience / perspective too. Imagine you as the user and try feel what type of content you would need/want to see to take action and then in what order. Usually starting big picture and then move into the finer details they might need to see.

I love Rob O'Rourke's teaching because he is teaching the CORE, not some fancy tricks. Yes, that is exactly what i would do. To implement OnSite SEO and register the website with Google (Search Console). Also, I would add a blog section, so it would help rank better and easier to find in Google searches.

Hey Rob... Thanks for the video. This is the approach I always take into consideration and it works with my UI design process. My goal now is to see how you approach the next phase of the project. How you maneuver and get the site coded. Whether you go with templates or you go from scratch. In either case, I would love to know your strategy.

Hello I love your content, I am web developer as well I made over 10 projects for € but after that covid came and everything failed. Now I decided to go full in. My biggest fear is from experience: I got the client (no problem) but than when i told the client I need all text and photos + domain and host access. Lot of time this increase the time of project for 2-4weeks. Now I have problem I charge 30% up front. So i finished the project they say its amazing but because they don’t have access to domain because their old designer has access to this but he is not reachable its time wasting for me because i cant upload their page on server. And they don’t pay me other 70%. How can I avoid this?

Hi first of all love you channel and the content you produce, I’m planning to start my own website design company, but had a few questions, for the content like the about me part do you get the client to write that and then you insert it or do you have to write it yourself, also do you charge the client yearly for their domain or you just buy the domain for 1 year? Would love to have a chat with you about this too one day

Hey Rob how do you decide if you choose one page layout or multiple page layout?
@mirkonik8788
@mirkonik8788 3 года назад
Hey Rob, Amazing video with a lot of valuable and actionable information. Thank you as always. Regarding the CTAs: is there some kind of sweet spot between the number of CTAs and the amount of sections of a page? Intuitively I would say after each logical step of trust or information of a page, I could place a CTA. But on the other hand, this might stress some users due to the constant CTA pushes...
@MrEnklave
@MrEnklave 3 года назад
I like to put CTA button in sticky header. That gives user the option to sign up whenever he wants but it's not aggresive like pop-ups or CTA along the wat scrolling a site
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 3 года назад
Ya good question - you for sure want to strike a good place. I usually trust my gut and add in one when it seems they now know more and they might be ready to act (compared to where they weren't ready before). Plus you can have various levels of pushes "book a trial now" versus "see how our pricing works". Try anticipate where they might want to go next and make that step easier - while overall moving them to take the big action the site is built around.
@mirkonik8788
@mirkonik8788 3 года назад
@@FoxWebSchool thanks for the good advice. The various levels are definitely a good way to alter the CTA so it doesn’t get to boring. Haven’t thought about that until now.
@mirkonik8788
@mirkonik8788 3 года назад
@@MrEnklave thank you for responding. I‘ve done this with contact form links in the past. But I will definitely try to put the main CTA in the header. Thanks for the valuable input.

At what point when speaking with your client do you talk money?
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 3 года назад
I am quite open with money - usually the more they spend the more I can help them. That being said I bring it up towards the end of our sales conversation. You can start with something like "to help solve these problems we just talked about - what range of budget did you have in mind? This will help me to look at what options are available for you..."
