I've been trying to get these hops in the ground for almost a month and finally picked a spot! I'm hoping these babes put out some delicious cones so I can make my first decent wet IPA! Check the link below to get a deal on my favorite booze free hop beverage, HOP WTR!
HOP WTR comes in three flavors Classic, Mango and Blood Orange. You probably have seen me holding the classic blue can on more than one occasion, it's my favorite because it reminds me of a nice mid 2010's IPA!
All my brewer friends out there, you gotta give this a try.

I'm growing 4 varieties of hops (Cascade, Centennial, Mt Hood and Nugget). To keep track of each variety I planted them in alphabetical order.

Where do you order Hop seeds from? I’m having a hard time finding a place to buy Hop seeds for home brewing. Particularly Mosaic, Galaxy and Statra seeds.

I could only get cascade and centennial to produce last year. My EKG and Sazz just grew vines and 2 or 3 cones. Cheers 😀 👍 🍻

My hops shot up 10 feet. And then another 8! but they had to start turning downward cause didn't anticipate this much growth this year. Big ol rainstorm and my jute and hops collapsed.. depression. got em back upish hoping the do good still.

You can get some shade netting to help lessen the impact of the sun so that your hop leaves dont get sun burned

SIX plants? My goodness you are going to have so many hop cones once they have grown a bit. I can barely use all the cones my two plants produce. On the other hand you just got yourself a giant new brewing system so your throughput is much higher than mine. Anyway, great video. Enjoy the homegrown hops :)

I was a little concerned you haveing the hops in the sun in plastic bags, I was afraid you would have roast hops. I planted my hops 30 plus years ago. They had to come from America to Canada where I live . What a hasal F.D.A., Canada agreculture, permits Got them and in the ground. Half survived. I have had home grow hops ever since I have shared what I have to others to start their own hop garden. Best of luck, I think they will do great. You are a very hard worker.

Got mine in the ground late last (mid June) season. Expecting only vegetative growth, I was pleasantly surprised with about a half pound out of each species (three plants each, chinook, comet and ctz). I ran some 1/4 inch irrigation and used one of the ports on the hose timer I got for the hanging baskets which worked great! Hope you get lots of yield this year…can’t wait to see what you, and I for that matter, brew with the backyard hops!

Great video, Sarah! Hops should grow well in Southern California but “the Internet” says that they should not be in full sun if daytime temps exceed mid-70’s. You might want to put up a shade structure to prevent the leaves from burning. I had a neighbor who planted them as ornamentals in the Colorado mountains above 8,000 feet! They die back to the ground and then shot up in the spring. I am tempted to try growing them in the shade in the Arizona desert, wish me luck!

Fortunately they’re close enough to the garage they’re shaded when the sun is at its peak and I’ve got tomatoes in the ground in front of them that should give a good amount of shade once they’re full grown (my other tomato’s are already 4ft high!!)

In the past I've used corkscrew type ground anchor to secure my lines and it worked great. A little more cash tho.

They grow like weeds, just keep them watered and you will be golden. My cashmere are already almost to the top of the house, they seem to grow about a foot a day.

Question 🙋‍♂️ 1 what is “neem oil” (not sure the spelling) if I was to buy it in Australia? 2 what’s the best climate for hops? I live in Brisbane Australia and have been told they won’t grow in my climate 😞

You mentioned organic. Have you ever made 100% organic beer? Hops, grain, and yeast? I would love to hear about this. My wife really wants me to brew 100% organic, but it’s hard. Perhaps you could make a video on this? Even if it’s a SMASH….. Love your videos. Jeremy, Waterville, WA
