Thank you Jeff. Really enjoyed watching and learning. Love the your calm and simple way of explaining. Shared with mum now she wants some lilly bulbs too but not seen any in the shops only daffodills and tulips at the moment.
I would love to have the yellow, red, and white ones. I have the pink and orange already! They are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing this great video!
I have yellow, red, and white that just bloomed in one pot. I'm in America, New York. Should I try and plant it in my berm in my lovely garden, or Leave it in the pot where they've all just bloomed Beautifully ? ?? Not sure if I should replant now. I'm afraid I may lose my Gorgeous Lilys 😁🌾🌷🌼🌹⚘
Hello Jeff , née friend here from Southern California ❤️ May I know the brand of compost you use in planting this lovely Lilies . Thanks in advance ❤ JONAH
Our Asiatic Lilies grow beautifully in the spring. However, during the first rain the petals immediately fall off and do not bloom until the following spring. Any suggestions?
I planted some asiatic lilies yesterday in my garden and noticed today that the blooms are dying and the base of the stem and leaves are turning yellow. In only 24 hours. Are they dying?
No, potted lily plants can live in containers for a few years with proper overwintering. In autumn, cut the stalks back to just above the soil line. Discontinue watering at this time so the bulbs don’t rot. Then simply overwinter them in a frost free greenhouse, cold frame, shed or basement. You can also wrap the entire pot in bubble wrap and leave it outside for the winter if you don’t have a cool shelter to put it in. Do not bring container grown lilies into a warm house for the winter, as that will prevent them from flowering next summer. Thanks for watching!
I have been told over and over how easy it is to grow and maintain Lilies, but I have thus far failed two years in a row. Last year I bought 3 bags of bulbs and not a single one developed. This year I have bought plants that have already got stalks and about to bloom. My daughters Asiatic Lily or Lilium hybrid have turned from white/ pink blooms to brown and the leaves are turning yellow. Help Please?!
I planted the bulbs like you said last week but I don't see anything yet, how long before the plants pop through the soil? 2 or 3 weeks? Thanks, Bill in Las Vegas
william patterson In the UK we plant them autumn to spring and they start to come up around may/june. Not sure in your weather. 2-3 weeks would probably require them to be sprouting at time of planting.
Hi, The best time for transplanting lilies is in the autumn, when the leaves have withered and turned brown. The bulb uses the leaves for the rest of the summer to collect and store energy. If you take too many leaves, the bulb will be small and weak. Once the leaves are all brown, dig carefully around the plant with a shovel. I hope this helps and thanks for your question!
Hi Sayuru, you can shop our Asiatic Lilies here: www.jparkers.co.uk/bulbs-tubers/lilies/asiatic-lilies? and they range in price starting from £6.49 for 5. I hope this helped :)
