How to Plant Carrots from Seed 

For years I struggled with growing carrots. I had read all the articles but nothing seemed to help. I had not heard of covering the seed with potting soil. It made all the difference. Thanks for the video.

I started out planting in trenches and now sow the whole bed by sprinkling the seeds. Much less thinning required and if I do thin, they are replanted in sparsely seeded areas. Applying a thin layer of soil overtop and pressing lightly,, the bed is done. That's the way I prefer planting carrots after experimenting with both methods.

I bought a seed sower from Wilkinson`s only cost £1.50 I find I can sow about 3-4 seed per 3 inches easy and when the seed is sown in the shallow drill I cover the seeds with a small dressing of coir.

an empty salad dressing bottle with the hole in the top works well too with small seed

Make your own seed tape with toilet paper, flour, and water works way better 1 pack of seeds did over 300 feet of carrots with 3 seeds spaced 2 inches. Takes some time but its well worth it in the end.
