How to Play 13 Card Game 

You did a really good job of explaining the game. My son had many happy hours playing this game in his high school choir class. That class should have been called "Thirteen" instead of choir since playing cards is why they took the class -- not to sing. I don't think a single guy in that class could sing a note on key. You end by saying that there is a lot to the game....maybe you could make another video about strategy? Thanks so much!

I have been playing this game for about 15 years now, and I have to say that you did a great job of explaining the rules! Everything you said was on point with the rules I have always known, except I have never heard of a rule that you cannot win with a bomb or a paired straight. Also, where did this game come from? I have never known the origin of 13.

I've been looking for this game for a week. We called it Poison growing up.

nice video. I have been Playing this game since middle school and have seen many versions of this game. What you call a "cutoff" is what we called a "bomb" along with the 4 of a kind. As far as what it can take out when it comes to 2's is the same as we play. 4 of a kind can take out two 2's along with an 4 pair straight. One other way that qualifies as an automatic win besides four 2's and a dragon was 6 pairs and a single. Also played with some people that play trips on aces and "after 10", meaning suits don't matter till after 10. Just wondering if you played the same way. Anyways great vid.

hi nice video i didnt understand a few things 1-if one has a 3 of clubs and not 3 of spades but has 4 of spades shud he start with the 3 of clubs and 4 of spades 2-suppose if i throw 10 of hearts and my opponent dosent have any higher card of that suit to defeat me then can he defeat me with a 10 of spades ? 3-also when we finish a round like with just one card the remaining cards are dicarded right ? they are not used again in the game?

I was never into cards, but recently my cousins taught me how to play 13. the way they taught me sounds a bit different though..? you always want to beat the singles, doubles, consecutives, etc but play buy those rules. like, if someone puts down a two of hearts, that's the highest & no one can beat that. so that person chooses to put down another single, or doubles whatever they want. & the person who runs of cards first is the winner. can you please clear up my confusion lol because it sounds like my cousins taught me incorrectly :/

@quadrupIDH Turner You can play 13 with 2 people... just give them 13 cards.... same with 3 people just give everyone 13 cards and 13 cards are not in the game even if it is all the 2's

My ex and I were about to start a new round of 13 and I excused myself to get us drinks. When I came back, he went first with a FULL BLACK SPADE DRAGON. Please don’t be as dumb as I initially was... he rearranged the cards while I was gone (impressive cos I wasn’t gone that long) and waited. But when it set in I was PISSED. Then realized he rigged it and we laughed.

So can you play a combination of 8 9 10 jack queen is this exceptable

another way to win is 6 pairs, also to the guy that say you can't play with 2 people. lol, you can. 4 piles of 13 mate.

just FYI u cant play 13 with 2 people you have to have 4, no more no less, well actually you could play with 3 but no less than 3 and no more than 4 its called 13 for a reason its b/c u strt the game with 13 cards not 14 if you have 4 players and all of u have 14 cards u got 4 cards to many ur deck should consist of 52 cards and each player gets 13 each unless ur playing with 3 then u should have uneven cards but u could still play with 3
