Hi there, thanks for your question. You could actually play exactly the same thing in the LH as you're playing in the RH, but without doubling the octave on top. Or, depending on the montuno melody, you could harmonize in 10ths ... there are so many possibilities the deeper you get into this (not even mentioning Timba ...) ... but the main idea is, as it is a general rule in many styles of music, not to play anything that conflicts with the bass player - you're not there to double or reinforce the bass player if there is one present.
