I think you can make a great start on Mordor for just over $100. heres a 549 point force I worked out for $106.75 Army List Shagrat, Warleader 6 Morannon Orcs with Shield 6 Morannon Orcs with Shield and Spear Gorbag with Shield 6 Morannon Orcs with Shield 6 Morannon Orcs with Shield and Spear Black Numenorean Marshal with Armoured Horse, shield and Lance 5 Morgul Knights Shopping List: Shagrat and Gorbag - $20 2x Morannon Orcs - $49.50 Morgul Knights - $37.25 The morgul knight kit comes with the option for a Black Numenorean Marshal, a banner and even a war horn. if you wanted to boost points you could max out on all these but they aren't nessesary. You could even proxy the Black Numenor Marshal as the Dark Marshal if you wanted a Wraith! I'm not a fan of proxying models so I'd rather buy a WYSIWYG force and spend a little more in most cases, but this is actually a pretty solid force for a begginer, no proxys, and plenty of room for expansion.
Acthon39 Yeah sorry about that! Unfortunately we had to take a break to get other projects and personal events settled. However we are now back on schedule! Expect us to start putting out multiple videos a week once again!
My nephew (who has never wargammed before) is taking Witch King, Dark Marshall, Shadow Lord and 2 Black Numenorean Marshall's, all mounted, to the Desolation of Stockport 2015 the weekend. I have played 2 practice games with him (I was using 600pts of all mounted Gondor) ......he beat me on both occasions! I advised him to set up all his figures withion 6" of the Shadow Lord, which meant I had to roll 6's for my bowfire. Then, when I tried to charge I had to take courage tests for Terror (all his figures have this), but the wraiths give a -1 to courage to all enemy figures within 12", so my knights have a base 3 courage reduced to 2! I hardly ever got to charge in. When I did get to charge in, my strength 3 or 4 guys could not get enough dice to wound the wraith's who are defemce 8, even the Numenorean Marshalls are defence 7. I'm wishing I was taking his force myself now! :)
That's a difficult army to beat but here is what I thought:elessar, boromir cotwt with horse and lance along with galadriel bofa version or Gandalf with tom bombandil and goldberry
I think the buy part should always include a short Ebay section. You can buy 20 Orcs probably for 10-15 Dollars on Ebay, so why would anyone in their right mind spend 25 at GW? Not saying you shouldnt support your hobby, but especially for new guys this is a lot cheaper than buying all new from GW.
***** Well unfortunately Ebay prices fluctuate a lot and I will have to take a lot of time to search for them. I could say that this is the price you should expect to pay, but even that will change. Plus, buying the product at GW helps support the hobby as you mentioned. This is why I also dont talk about miniatures produced by other companies
Hi new to the game, trying to build a mordor and durin's folk army and I've started by buying nazgul and standard orcs, this works well for me as a beginner but Durin's folk are incredibly hard to buy outside of games workshop. i have watched your durin's folk video but i am still puzzled on where to start. Also what is a good number to stop buying orc commanders (just bought my seventh)
I am building a Mordor force at the moment, at the beginning it was very powerfull, my Morannon Orcs just crushed everybody and my Witch-King on Fellbeast sniped a lot of heroes. But since a few months I am being beated time after time. My opponents run a dwarf force (+treebeard and some ents), a Rohan force (with Erkenbrand) and another dwarf/wanderers in the wild force (it contains Beorn, Great Eagles, Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, who are really annoying me). I am thinking at the moment at making my force Mordor/Angmar. I have seen that Shades are really powerfull and I think especially if you combine them with a lot of Morannon Orcs that you will crush trough enemy lines easily. I also thought about Barrow-Wights but this is no option for me because my opponents also use Legolas. I tried some Spectres but they also do not work because of my opponents high courage with dwarves or rohan with erkenbrand. What I really want to know is would you guys recommend me making a Mordor/Angmar Armylist. I am planning to use a maxed out Witch-king of Angmar on fellbeast and the Dwimmerlaik as sorcerers, do I need more Nazguls or just stick with these two?
Thijs Le Blansch Hey Just to let you know, we answered your question in our newest Q&A video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jt1YCKF0qa0.html
Actually Mordor Orc Spam armies do very well at tournaments. You wont necessarily see them win on top tables, but they cause a lot of damage to many other lists. The simple weight of numbers is generally enough to beat many armies simply by waiting for them to roll poorly in combats. And with so many models at a decent defense value, they can afford to wait out the fight
+James Keilty Yes we can make a Numenor video. Actually we intend to finish up the series this weekend since we will be snowed in by a blizzard here in D.C.
Seige bows are interesting since they are fairly cheap at 50 points. In order to be effective, they need to be spammed. Maybe 3 or 4. This would cause a lot of havoc on enemy ranks and certainly threaten Cavalry. However once combat meets, you will be 200 points understrength since they cant help you at that point. This means you need to design your army to meet the charge once your opponent comes in
tylerwc88 haha well hopefully we can pump out the other videos before people buy those armies! I hope the How to buy section gave you some good advice. Let me know what you would like to see in future How to play videos
DC HobbitLeague luckily I came to the same conclusions as you did when picking out my force. I bought morannon orcs, black guards, black numenoreans, morgul knights, gothmog, winged nazgul and the great beast. I was glad to see most all of these mentioned in the video! Thanks for all the work you guys put into your channel! Keep it up!
