Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Beach Tennis.
Beach Tennis is a modified variant of regular tennis that is played on the beach.
The game is played with a tennis ball and a racket employing the same rules as regular tennis.
The objective of the game is to score more points than your opponent’s team.
The game is played as either singles or doubles.
It is not allowed for the player’s body to touch the net or cross the plane of the net.
The player who is serving is required to stay behind the baseline while serving.
The player is supposed to hit the ball with the racket in the opponent’s team court and they are supposed to hit it back.
If a team fails to strike the ball and it hits the sand below, a point is awarded to the opponent’s team.
A point is also awarded to the opponent’s team if the ball strikes the net while traveling to the opponent team’s court.
In Beach Tennis scoring is 15-30-40 similar to regular tennis, with no advantage at 40-40 (deuce).
The first score is 15 that is one point, then 30 which is two points than 40, three points, and the fourth would result in the winning point.
At the end of the game, the team with the highest points win.
