I love this man's enthusiasm for the game, the players and his commentary style. I saw him in an exhibition once. He did a full tour of the crowd as part of his walk on. High fived everybody. Then he hit a 15 darter against someone who had won a raffle to play him. He hit - 4 straight tons, 101 finish - Bull, S1, Bull. Phenomenal! You can't beat a bit of Bully!
I played a guy one time He threw first I hit 180, 60 ,180. Concentrating only on my game I went up to have a go at my 81 chk out and the marker was cleaning the board. My opponent had just taken out 148 to beat me in 12 darts... Point is 15 darts is good but its not phenomenal.. Although the 2 bulls was nice.
@@RABIDJOCK 15 darts for the Professional player is the absolute bare minimum they EXPECT to get. I'd say most of them are seeking 11 - 13 darts matches as a regular leg.
@@jamieshannon9809 well 15 darts gets you a ball hair over 100 avg so it is very good if you are hitting it consistantly and a 100 avg will get you into the latter stages of most comps but on its own it not outstanding. Gary Anderson won a set on Sunday in the world final with 15, 17, and 21 which was about county level. Suppose that's why he got beat 😆
@@RABIDJOCK Of course, in most of the Players Championship games you'd expect an average of between 104 - 109 with the odd exception of above 112. It's difficult to maintain a high average like they do in the Premier League Darts in a first to 7 set match where you could end up playing 65 legs of darts. Most Professional players are looking for 2 Big Trebles per throw and a big set up shot to leave an "easy 2 darter".
Yes I got one in lockdown and live it. Set out to hit a 180 as had never done it, but have a couple of times now. Changed my grip and stance several times, but now settled.
@ciaran perry fair enough but I played for about 12 years in the late 70s in the laye 80s then left Scotland and stopped playing for 23 years.Started again in 2013 after my girls were up and was back to how I was playing within a short time..I get to that point and know I'm not going to keep up 3 hours a day practice as I used to. For me returning to darts was for the social aspect. I'm as happy marking games as playing them as long as I'm having a pint 😆
Thanks, Wayne! Some of this helped a lot. The release is my real problem. I find the dart gets caught on a finger a lot and that pushes it into the 1 or 5. My scoring is like: 140, 22, 11, 100, 7, 26...
I’ve always considered Wayne Mardle to be an ex player that has got into commentary. It’s only when you actually sit quietly and listen to him and take on board what he’s saying that you truly appreciate his incredible knowledge of the game. I’ve certainly enjoyed these videos, and look forward to putting these methods into practice, to hopefully improve my game. Cheers Wayne 👍
I watched a lot of "getting better" videos, but this one helps me the most. Especially the fact to follow a rhythm helped a lot. I got less pain in my shoulder and score a lot better. Thx wayne! 👍
I watched this last night and tonight I took it on board and tried throwing this way. I just scored 180, and that doesn't happen very often. Thanks Wayne!!!! :-)
This is exactly what I need to work on. I’m definitely a snatcher and my follow-through needs work. This is very helpful. Thank you Wayne! Also, thanks for your legendary commentary on Bully Boy’s 9 darter. It made me fall in love with the darts!
Nice tutorial Wayne.. cheers. 😉👍 What about the aiming though??? In front of the eye (look down the barrel).. or.... look over the top of the dart - keeping both eyelines clear?? I'm personally looking down the barrel - using it like the sights of a gun - lining that up with the target then throwing. Sometimes, when I'm practicing, I look over the top of the dart and this does 'sometimes' work better than aiming down the barrel. But I feel this leads to dropping my elbow. This is more of a rhythm throw. Which is best in the long run? It's all very confusing 🙈
I aim down the barrel but adjust it with my right eye, right eye dominant, it looks wrong as in it seems your aiming elsewhere than the 20 with both eyes open but I get good results, many 100s for me?
dude i cant belive you hit the board while looking at the dart. pick a spot inside the treble. not just the treble but any discolouration or bit of white or whatever. your eyes do better focusing on one spot than an area. 'eyes on the prize' and we used to say. i don't know what you average but your aiming technique sounds bizarre
yes! i'm a short chinese girl (156cm) and i follow these techniques. i dont know where you're from but we call this the "stroke". you train to throw this way until it becomes muscle memory. there are lots of short asian players, you can look up some japanese darts players as an example and watch how they throw.
Obviously not the way to throw.......otherwise he'd have won a few tournaments. N9t really the guy to take advice on. He's as shit at punditry as he was a player.
Hello Wayne! I learned to relax with a dart, but in the game my shoulder often strains. Because of this, the hand goes to the side. What can you advise?
😂 That end! Great video, I've been a darts fan for years, but only recently started trying to play seriously, so the most basic tips and tutorials are much appreciated 😁
Hey everyone quick question Mr marble whom puts a smile on my boat u should b a comedian anyways when u throw a dart do u have 2 tense ur bicep or tense anything
great video Wayne.. thought it was Phil Collins when it first started though... actually though, i've never seen Wayne Mardle & Phil Collins in the same room together..... just saying.....
Been playing since Xmas. I've gotten to a point where I'm hitting T20 mostly 1/3 but the other 2 always drift to T5, T1 or bizarrely (& often) T18. My throw is totally that really smelly one U did - the last one. My wife bought me some trendy Red Dragon Miami's (on a side note) and the family are now mocking me with the monicker Hawaii 5 & 1. 😢 I'm gonna try to silence them with these tips. Wish me luck.
Would rather take tips of someone that has won something in darts, maybe someone like Gary Anderson, Wayne is good for tips on how to cheat or display bad sportsmanship in darts.
I was laughing at the start of the video when he demonstrated bad throwing with body Moving all over the place but it looked like he threw a 180 😁 Is Taylor the best ever ?
Can you explain whether you use the same throw movement regardless of whether you are going for 20’s on double 3. I.e is it all in the weight or do you draw the dart back less when aiming at the lower half of the board
Thankyou, I've just changed my throw as my action was like a railway arch. Missed so many doubles because of it, judging the drop. Now it's more direct and shorter action, which is better, I need to do the follow through and I should be sorted 👍
He actually won 10 big tournaments, including the Dutch Open. The fact that he reached a BDO semi-final and no less than four PDC semi-finals. So he must have done something right.
@@paarker a year to reply? And I have done nothing in the world of darts. However, many darts players have a dislike for mardle as he tells them how to play in matches when most are better than him. Did you know he is not allowed to do interviews as many players refuse to talk to him?
I try every time with the follow through but still my darts are all over the place, sometimes one out of the three will hit the target, practice practice practice
Darts do not matter as much as you think they do. It comes down to repetition with your setup. You can hand me any dart and if I spend enough time throwing said dart I will be able to throw said dart. Form and mechanics have 2 very big important factors. rhythm and fallow through, how you achieve those two isn't that important as long as you're doing the same thing everytime.
Hello Wayne, regarding follow-through, should my throwing hand point at the target after throwing? For example, I aim to T20, should my hand follow through and point at t20?
