Just discovered your channel and I just wanted to say, you've got a lot of great content. Keep up the good work dude! I'm sure other deadheads like myself appreciate these lessons.
That clip was from Festival Express. Believe it or not I saw it on an airplane and when the flight was done, I left it completely blown away by clips like those.
It's a great clip. But you can see how four sheets to the wind everybody was-anything goes be it blow, heroin, speedballs you name it-and sadly many of them died way before their time.
Came here for a lesson and got a lot more. Your a very funny and entertaining dude. I love what your doing man. Bad ass lesson too. I’ve watched about every lesson on you tube and yours is the only one that’s spot on.
Thanks for this one man! This version Fits my vocal ability much better than it does in E. Appreciate you taking the time to share this. Looking forward to seeing some lessons on Jerry’s acoustic songs
THANK YOU! I HAVE TO LEARN THIS SONG BECAUSE I MIGHT BE CALLED TO PLAY IT FOR MY NEPHEW, WHO IS IN A COMA RIGHT NOW AND IT'S ONE OF THOSE SONGS WE COULD NEVER GET RIGHT. NOW THANKS TO RU-vid AND YOU, I CAN!!!! HOPING IT CAN PRODUCE A MIRACLE.
Thanks for showing up in my search I hit the button this should be the quintessential Dead learning channel maybe it is I don’t know just got here but this is hard core real Dead stuff they have kept me alive since 92 .New tubes, new strings a good buzz nobody to f with me the rest of tonight hope your channel grows and grows preaching the gospel thanks for doing this I knew this song so well I just followed along with you easy those “big channel” guys need to subscribe and take some lessons here ✌️
Toby & Davvy your welcome man I’m Not going anywhere the world is in a blaze and filled with chaos the Dead is my home I was made fun of for listening to them in high school but they couldn’t break me it’s still my medicine the major populace has no clue what good music is and the power of music without lyrics as well thank you so much for your channel it will be a lot of value to me love it😎😎✌️
Thanks buddy as always Fantasticaloso..... So question for ya if ya don't mind sharing some more knowledge here. It's in the key of D. yea cool got that. The intro and melody though. What scale is that based on? Looks like C major maybe? which doesn't make sense as key of D has C as a C#? what scales or modes would ya use to jam over this? thanks buddy keeping me happy here in my downunder lockdown life
I have such a good time watching these. Haha the little pictures, and I love the progressive close ups. It's so funny. NTM learning the song. I'm on the couch now but I think I can learn this one. I like your lessons the best, for some reason w others I can't get alot of verses down. I think it's because U play and sing while teaching, which is cool. What's Ur paypal. I owe U. I asked before to no avail
Thursdays are just a little bit better every week now. thanks for that man. now that i think about it, my Sunday's are too. if there is vote ever for two lessons a week ill support it by watching and sharing every chance i can. do you play acoustic much? id love to watch any lessons youd be willing to make on Jerry's acoustic music also. either way, appreciate what youre doing and look forward to seeing it all unfold.
Hey, bro. These very kind words mean a lot. And I do have plans to do the acoustic tunes and eventually get into the Jerry-grass. As far as another lesson a week? Maybe every once in a while when I have a bunch done and edited, but as far as two every single week? With the other videos on the channel and life, it’ll be quite a while before that’s a possibility. But hey, if these pick up and I start getting sponsors or paid from it, I will totally backpedal and do two a week. Know what I’m sayin?
Toby & Davvy right on man. I don’t have any clue how long it must take to make one of these but like anything, it must get quicker the more you do it. I suspect that two a week will become something you do purely from sharing the music that you do. Or maybe you even decide to do with some “lesson for your practice session” videos or something of the nature... Who knows though? Not complaining whatsoever, just thinking.. lol. I do know The Upbeat style and delivery is a slam dunk for musicians. Along with the knowledge bombs you drop about the band and the music. Its awesome! I’ve yet to find a channel out there with Dead lessons that come close to yours. Pulling for sponsorship and looking forward to the acoustic angle, Mann!
Video is entertaining and informative as usual. I watched this one eventhough I cheated and learned the reckoning version first. Which is in E I believe.
really prefer the later adaption when they play it in E. The version on For The Faithful was the first version I ever heard so the versions in D always bend my ear when I put in an early 70's show. Great vids tho, don't get me wrong; I have gleaned some stuff from your vids fo' sho'
Terrapin Station. I've got Lady with a Fan down pat but struggle with the title track starting with, "Inspiration move me brightly" all the way up to "and the whistle is screaming." (the outro that follows is easy).
I do! I play in a Dead tribute called Tennessee’s Dead. I also have a little tribute I do every other Monday at a hemp store. I’m going to be streaming that live to the channel. Also do a live jam/ Q&A every Friday at 9pm.
what i cannot believe now having watched these videos and having played dead (with no lessons by the way ) for over 35 years now , how wrong i have played them!!! uggh
not wrong probably just different key. I've been playing this in e for twenty five years. They have been paying that way since before reckoning in 1980
Coool tune captain davvy from my favourite jerry record ,dont know why i said captain davvy for who knows maybe we never will,Fuck it.Anyway thanks for the lesson about the bird song, love jerry on that train bless his loving heart.I nottice when i take Adhd drugs i can learn or consentrate better dont give a fuk if i spell wrong, yeah brother the pills work.I have a script to!Just incase the big bossman in blue trys to flex his big muscles.Peace davvy, stay Coool brother. And deadhead love to all.
Toby is my partner I run the channel with. He has a show on Wednesdays called Loose Beats , we also do a podcast together called A Drink & A Joint and do some live streams as well.
Nah it was Pigpen who had the thing with Janis. Jerry couldn't care less. She drank way too much for him but not Pigpen. Didn't last long though. There's a hilarious story Jerry told about the both of them. Pretty funny for sure. But anyway I love you man 👍🏻 you're the best and I laugh along too. I get your sense of humor 👍🏻
