This Glimmer build is probably one of the better arguments for why four elements monk should be a 1/3rd caster like eldritch knight and arcane trickster.
@@goldenegg8of100 I'd say one version is Druid for the nature monk and a Cleric one for the Buddhist temple/ shaolin monk. Annnnnnd to cover all bases, make the last Arcane one for the monks who dip into magic itself to buff themselves.
For the four elements monk specifically limiting it to evocation and conjuration spells on the sorcerer list is probably your best bet. There's some stand out picks on the druid list, but sorcerer literally gets all the key elemental spells and the other 1/3rd casters are limited to two schools from X list.
@@aceofflames4572 Yes, but op was talking about the builds, not the characters. Gandalf, for example, *feels* like an archetypal wizard in his general vibe, but if you made him in DnD, as seen in Tulok's build, he'd actually be more of a support caster.
Nah, angella always tends to figure out glimmer is lying and grounds her. Her lie just like buys her a little time to go do whatever she was going to do anyway.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't give Glimmer a couple levels in conjuration wizard, but I liked the end product nonetheless. But what makes me even more surprised is that you didn't pick footage from the episode where they play an RPG. It was right there!
Been very grateful for this month and all the work that's gone into two builds a day. Question out of pure curiosity, since building nearly 400 characters, how often do come across builds that are nearly identical to each other?
Do you ever just look at your RU-vid notifications, and then you see a video, and then you feel like you've gone straight to Heaven. Thats how seeing this video made me feel! Now maybe next we could get a Seahawk and Mermista build
I'd like to see the rest of the princess alliance! Now that we have playable bug people in UA maybe we can get a respectable Scorpia! Perfuma would probably be a relatively straight forward Land Druid. Mermista I'm not so sure about
Excellent shot with a lot of variety to them, flight, leadership, not wearing armor, and having your weapon be magical? That describes Jesse Faden extremely well.
I feel like Protector Aasimar or Custom Linegae (Celestial) would be a good fit for Glimmer as well. That'll aslo give her Light and Darkvision. The radiant soul ability fits the aesthetic of her sparkle blasts well. Custom Linegae will let you design her appearance however you want (you could maybe even ask your DM if you could be considered a humanoid and celestial) as well as Darkvision and a feat. You can take feytouched for free misty step at level 1. Alternatively, you can go Spring Eladrin and flavor it as celestial instead of fey, and it comes with a free short rest teleportation ability and you can also teleport other people.
Huh. Admittedly I didn't put much thought into the ability of the Aasimar, but now I am even more confused as to why he didn't pick. He makes human looking space aliens Aasimar all the time, but not the girl with a human father and angel mother.
@@Devlerbat I guess it was for the feat and he wanted to phase out of using protector Aasimar for these builds? And Divine Soul kinda already fit that divine heritage flavor.
Thank you as always for the quality work Tulok, you’ve been hitting it out of the park with these creative builds and jokes day after day! Halfway through the month now, please take as long of a break as possible after this 😭🙏🏾! Also, lmao someone *absolutely* needs to box Shadow Weaver’s ears 😂😂😂
Only criticism is that Glimmer is half-Etherian. Her dad is full blooded Human, but her mother is some form of pseudo-immortal Celestial being. And its made clear that shes their biological daughter. So making her an Aasimar is pretty appropriate. And you really dont lose much from the build, because youll have +1 Wis +2 Cha covering for losing the bonus feat. Plus darkvision, some resistances, and Light for free
You know who needs a multi build video like this is the Team Rocket trio. Hm, they'd all have rogue and bard levels, but it seems like Meowth would also have artificer. Also they'd all spec into constitution because they've survived so much, including being *flung from Hawaii to Japan*
So on the one hand the Monk levels do make for a fun gimmick for Glimmer. But on the other hand I can't help but feel like Glimmer having even a decent Wisdom stat is a tad out of character considering... basically EVERYTHING she did in Season 4.
I never realized distant spell worked with teleportation spells. Dimension door with distant and quickened spell is honestly a terrifying and awesome concept lil
I'm hoping for a build for Jackie esticado aka the darkness from the comics and an Angelus build too. I love the games and I love dnd I hope I can mix the two
OH, ETHERIA, Glimmer and Bow playing as their own characters would be such a riot! I'm just imagining Glimmer casting Daylight... Bow: "Hey, this cave sure is dark..." Adora: "Anyone got any light?" Catra: "Maybe ask Sparkles over there..." Glimmer: *already stretching her hands to the sky* "I cast Daylight!" *A giant purple orb of sparkling light grows from Glimmer's hands and then bursts, illuminating the whole cavern...and also the mob of Horde soldiers the group was trying to sneak up on* Glimmer: *with a very satisfied grin on her face and her arms outstretched*. "I give you... Daylight". DM: "The Horde soldiers have noticed your fireworks display and are moving to attack. Roll initiative." Catra: "Nice going, Princess! You just revealed us to those guys!" Also, the Tiny Bow jokes would be EVERYWHERE... Glimmer: "I cast Teleport on Bow to get him across the canyon!" DM: "Ok, but once you get there Bow, make me a Dex save." Bow: "OK, here we go...OH NO... Nat 1..." DM: "A stalactite falls down on your head. You take 23 piercing damage." Bow: "TINY BOW!"
According to Jeremy Crawford and SageAdvice, Grasping Arrow also deals slashing damage when the creature is forcibly moved on a turn. I think this is busted with the amount of forced movement every character has access to nowadays, but apparently it's RAI.
Thank you for Kirk and Spock. Still pulling for Eglantine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), Prince Voltran (Flash Gordon), Counselor Troi (Star Trek: the Next Generation), Mary Poppins, and the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh).
More radiant damage options, I assume. I don't know the character at all but when he said Sun Soul Monk I was like, that makes sense for a character in this genre.
Okay I have one thing and one thing only to say about Glimmer: Her mother is canonically an angelic being, would that not make her an aasimar?? Since she's literally half angel???
Remember the Halloween episode of the Simpsons where Bart has ultimate powers, and it shows Krusty the Clown on TV full time, and he's exhausted, and he's like, "All because of one little boy... who won't let me stop!" I imagine Tulok as that version of Krusty this month....
If this was a build for the 1980s She-Ra, Bow would probably have a level or two of Bard, or at the very least the Entertainer background. His Combow could transform into a bow _and_ an instrument, and he did a lot of, uh, "singing" (Bow took a lot of crap from the other characters, especially from Kowl, all of which he _absolutely deserved_ and not just for his "musical talents" ("Huh, looks like these people don't appreciate good music." "They haven't heard any!")). ...Okay, on the other hand, maybe 1980s Bow _shouldn't_ have musical proficiency. On the other hand, the original series, even when viewed through the most powerful of nostalgia lenses, was just not very good.
I feel like Bow should really have Inspiring Leader as well. He does at least as many speeches as Glimmer, if not more. Including the major one in the finale. He's definitely the team's main inspirational speech guy, even if the other characters give some speeches as well. I'd probably get rid of the monk level, without it to don't need the ASI for Wisdom so you could take the feat there. Monk isn't really giving you much of anything in character. Martial arts isn't quite Bow's thing, and he isn't really unarmored either, abs are exposed but surely a chestpiece with an open midriff is still enough to count as light armor. Besides, even if you don't count that as armor, it's not like he's shown to be particularly hard to hit in the show. He usually just gets by on being at a range and the princesses drawing attention. The monk level seems there just for optimization rather than accuracy. Whereas Inspiring Leader isn't necessarily doing much, or really anything if Glimmer already has it since it doesn't stack. But it's definitely in character.
Holy Souly 14 is perfect for Glimmer, not accurate, but perfect. Her mom was an angel and I missed her from the show. RIP ♡ Holy Aura is also extremely helpful! Wonderful capstone!
It wasn't announced. Rinoa would absolutely have to be divine soul sorcerer - at least up to level 17 so she can get meteor swarm and the wings so she can Angel Wing Meteor - after starting off with just a few levels in something (ranger or druid) to give her Angelo. (Spells like aid and wish would mitigate the relatively low power of the companion.) Squall would be a hexblade, fiend, or celestial warlock (to represent the junctioning of GFs; they give you power in exchange for your long-term memory) with some martial class or other sprinkled in. Green flame blade or/and booming blade would be his gunblade trigger. He could potentially go eldritch knight for extra attacks and the ability to use attacks and cantrips on the same turn. What the hell, let's do the rest real quick: astral self monk for Zell (for the connotations of another being fighting alongside him,) wild magic sorcerer and basically any warlock of your choice for Selphie's slot limit break, artillerist artificer for Irvine, and either fighter and bard (plus possibly druid) or just bladesinger wizard for Quistis due to her pulling her blue magic from a variety of both natural and artificial sources and to get whip proficiency.
If she's using Misty Step or a quickened spell, she's already using her bonus action though, and the monk dip lets her attack as a bonus action if she attacks anyway.
Glimmer's mom is clearly an Angel and her dad is a human. Glimmer is closer to Aasimar than any actual Aasimar build you have made so far. Unless you count actual abilities. Which is probably why you didn't go with Aasimar. But STILL.
(videotape starts playing) Good day, Tulok. (picture of "Strixhaven - A Curriculum of Chaos" book appears) I know you are busy with these double builds, but with the recent release of this sourcebook for D&D, a strange idea has manifested. Your mission...should you choose to accept it after these double builds are done...is to create characters based on the schools of Strixhaven. The following suggestions come to mind... Lorehold - College of Archeology and History: Professor Layton Prismari - College of Visual and Performance Art: Sylvando (Dragon Quest 11) Quandrix - College of Numbers and Math: Pat Tuesday and George Frankly (Mathnet) Silverquill - College of Words and Composition: Light Yagami REDUX (Death Note) Witherbloom - College of Biology and Life Sciences: Dr. Victor Frankenstein These are only suggestions and you are free to do other ideas if you have any better ones. As always, should you or any of your group be caught or killed during these builds...the DM will disavow any knowledge of your failure and let you reroll new characters. This recording will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Tulok! (tape disintegrates into white smoke)
Etherian. Bow and Glimmer are from Etheria. ETERNIA is where He-Man and Castle Grayskull are located. But on that note... I want Noelle Stevenson's She-Ra to sync up with Kevin Smith's He-Man. Especially with the way "MOTU: Revelation" Part 2 ended... YOWZA. Also... no Guiding Bolt for Glimmer? BOO.
On the fifteenth day of Christmas My good Sr. Tulok brought me: Sixteen Eternial friends Fifteen Self-destructive teammates Fourtheen Marvelous Mutants Thirteenth paternal blood bonds Twelve dreamy rivals Eleven bottled pirate ships Ten Martial fighters Nine Red starfleet uniforms Eight Fantastic Couples Seven Rebel Spirit cops Six Lively toys Five Angry space wizards Four Hunted devils Three Prideful Greek heroes Two Crime fighting gals And a lemur up in a pear tree!
Great builds. But I would have made Glimmer an Aasimar, because of her molher. Also, I would have swapped the two last sorcerer levels for celestial warlock, getting armor of shadows and beguiling influence. It would also combo well with the coffelock strategy, usina a short rest to regain warlock slots and convert them into sorcery points to really spam the lower-level teleportation spells.
