Srsly man, you speak very well. Not super fast, but that's good. I'd guess it's a second language bc you have an accent, but bro, you're hitting it all!
Greetings from north (Finland)! I've played for almost 50 years, but because your words are as chrystal clear as your playing style, I will go back to basics, and do exactly what you say. And I also will study African music (right now I know only a little of it). Thank you very much!
Your video has really help me coming from a 15 yr old who just only started playing guitar in September, now I'm already playing solo in church and you've helped me understand that Congolese music really isn't just about seben
I've been trying to learn the name and this style of instrument for so long. Thank you for making this video! I am not musical at all but I liked this. I hear it in every Congolese song and I never knew. I'm Liberian and I appreciate it so much
You’re super clear at showing the fundamentals of your style. Respect. Your English is clear, but you’re a good enough teacher to not even need it. Keep doing what you do, brother.
I’m so glad that RU-vid recommended this video to me! I’ve been playing guitar for 20 years, and have never been exposed to this style of guitar before... I’m loving it! Thanks for the lessons, my Dude! Peace and love from Texas!
Hey man, I'm an English teacher, and your English is pretty great man! I know this is two years ago, so I imagine you have only improved! Also, great video, thanks for the lesson,.
Sounds great! Had the chance to improvise with a group of Congolese musicians in Kinshasa a little while ago. I play amplified viola, and it was one of the best experiences. We played a lot of Rumba.
Thank you for the English version. I got my guitar end of February and coming across your lessons, its bearing good fruits. Im still struggling to go fast and positioning my fingers accurately. Thanks, will get there.
I randomly discovered this video last month and not even play this style. But Man what some wisdom dropped here in starting few minutes. In one month, i improved after pushing myself to play better in overall. I'm beginner and just learning chords for now but your advice helped a lot.
Thank you very much Isaac. I've always wondered how to get that african vibe into guitarplaying. Amazing how, even when you show it slow, the vibe is still there
My brother shares videos he thinks I'll like for various reasons. Today yours was chosen and I very much enjoyed you and what you brought to the table. Lovely demonstration! ❤️
Brother, you're one of the smartest people on RU-vid right now, I think you're an amazing person and a really good musician! I wish there was more people like you in the world! Thanks for making awesome videos of teaching people how to play guitar the right way and the best way! God bless you brother!
Alex Kostan my pleasure brother thank you very much for this message which is getting straight to my heart 🙏🏾❤️ I do my best to inspire and show a good exemple to those on the same way to the heaven 🙏🏾 May God bless you so much and give his grace to all of us so we can improve together and reach the greatness in which he want us to be ! Amen 😘
Waoooww! I am really amazed to how you speak the English language. You are better off than most Anglophone speaking countries.Braaavoo my best francophone brother. Continue with the good work.God Bless u.
i must admit that africans are really good in many aspects of life, sports, singing, and the way they play the guitar really is awesome, they took the guitar playing to heaven like status, i just wish i was born in congo
Your English is spot on, sir! Plus, you needn't apologise - it's much better than my other languages! Great lesson, I enjoyed the vibe. What I love most about African style guitar is that it's never always about the bass lines or chords as a whole. The melody on the higher strings accompanies the bass line so you've two singing lines so to speak - to have a lesson in detail makes a point of this. Enjoyed it a lot, thank you for your time! All the best to you.
Quite lovely and so reminiscent of what was or is known as "Township Music" in South Africa. The vitality of the music lies in the soul and in the heart that is Africa in peace.
i am from Botswana so i just bought the guitar my interest is to learn sebene music so i will like to thank you for making an effort to speak English in the lesson.
Very nice. I never grasped why african music on guitar sounded so clear until now. The up-down stroke pattern on adjacent strings is a revelation. Also, kudos for playing this music on an LTD Metal guitar. I guess you don't use the Floyd Rose too much :)
Jean-Luc Dupont exactly as you have noticed ☺️👌🏾 In fact I don’t use the floyd at all I prefer shaking manualy string with my right hands 😅 Thanks for the comment fam’ 🙏🏾
One of my favored CD of all time is called "Congo to Cuba" various artists, Putumayo collection, Africa got a lot to offer in music unfortunately you 'll not hear it on commercial radio.
you speak English flawlessly...I understand you perfectly...your Congo style reminds a lot of Caribbean calypso, which makes sense since they have African routes
Isaac je suis trop contente. 👏🏽👏🏽😍💪 Félicitation je te souhaite d'atteindre le million de vue.... Tu le mérite largement perfect tuto keep going like this.... 😉😉
Thank you, Isaac. I teach music theory and songwriting and I loved this. The Congolese style you are playing makes tremendous use of diatonic (one key) melodic embellishments. It's beautiful and very open and free and relaxing. I dug it (and this is coming from a jazz sax player).
Dave Bass oh thank you very much as we congolese musicians think highly of you jazz musicians I realy appreciate ☺️ my next step is to improve my melodies with more jazz licks 🙏🏾 Thank you very much

Wonder how I got here on this side of RU-vid, but really learn something to jam on my guitar. Great explanation. And oh your English is perfectly great and understandable. No need to worry!!
Very good playing from 6:30 on is very cool showcase of your technique and differences in rhythms from an American feel. You go double time later, and it's beautiful. Blessed.
Amazing ,,Amazing.. Grew up listening to great Congolist guitar players like; Diblo, Fanco ok jazz just to name a few. I have been wanting to play this instrument soooo bad, finally bought my self an acoustic, and just left it in my storage. Watching you play at easy just got my confident up. Take you...
Your English is great man. I meat people hear in the US I can’t understand all the time. Your annunciation of words is perfect 👌 Awesome tutorial too ✌️
Hi Isaac, Im Impressed. Im looking to expand my knowledge on Seben solo. Just tried the Pick technique and its great. I'll be checking your page for more insight on solo and rhythm guitar.
this is a great lesson, i have tried to play a guitar for the past 4 years, but i was failling to syncronise my left and right hands... i ended up giving up. i know the chords now to play rhythm was headache for me... from this lesson i know now i can also play pentatonic scales and blues scales...you realy simplified it my brother. thank you a lot
