Thank you so much...!! Ilove this song and I wanted to learn it on my guitar..I have one acustic one..see how it works. I miss what you´re doing with your rigth hand exactlly..saludos, Veronica from Spain :-)
I just learned that song as a beginner. Straight finger picking capon second. Chords D A Em and G. Sounded OK but no intro. OK for starters. Thanks for this video. I'll keep practicing. I love this song. Glad I found this. I was sure bonnie Rait played it differently to me!!! Now I'm sure to be sure.
Dear Malcomb, what a great tutorial and voice, would you be able to tell me the picking pattern in terms of which string followed by which string, e.g. 1,4,1,5,6,3
Is there any way to get a copy of the tab for this? I know I'm at least nine years late to the game, and ShareOutLoud can't be found online. No luck emailing Malcolm, either. Karafun has Bonnie Raitt's cover of this, and a friend and I sing it together sometimes, but I'd like to learn to play it, too. Bonnie sang it live with Richard some years back, and with Paul Brady doing harmony vocals on her _Longing in Their Hearts_ album, released in 1994. I also just found out that Alison Krauss and David Gilmour have covered it.
Oh, I see! No, I will do proper tab. I will try to get that to you tonight. Either I can post a link to Share Out Loud or if you message me your email I will send it to you directly. Malcolm
Please don't call the second verse chord a B Diminished it is not, there is no 5b in that chord. It is simply a B with a 3rd in the bass Eb or 1/3 in that shape.
Hey Malc - you're quick on the draw my friend!! Just checking out your "Beeswing" tutorial too; nice work again. Whilst you're online, please take a look at my "Vincent Black Lightning" - you may appreciate the "add-ons". Regards to you - Jim
Ok - I like the simple approach but you really should actually include the 'actual' key - that is that with your chord pattern you are playing in B Maj. In this case to get a 'drop' you tune the sixth to F#. A recent cheaters trick is to use a 'cut away' capo on the 4th fret and a standard capo on the 2nd so that when you play F# (what you call D based on the chord configuration) you get an F#.but don't have to change any other chords that include the sixth string.
Well, I think most people will drop the E string to a D first, then put the capo on, otherwise the capo is restricting the movement of the string as you detune it. Easier to change tunings without the capo, I find.
Thanks for posting this Malcolm. Your lessons have really helped me, much appreciated. It seems your link to the tab is broken. If you could email it to me at noonpatcher at gmaildotcom that would be superb. Best wishes Frank
