So another variation to this is the player that drsws a bone from the boneyard, before the shuffle with the highest pip value starts play with any bone. But the first double played by any player becomes the spinner. You can also play all fives ( muggins) on a Cribbage board. The point totals during play are as follows. 5 10, 15 etc) are devided by 5, yielding 1 2 3 etc. End of hand bonus points are still given full value ( in which case they become more important) Games played using a cribbage board are typically played to a score of 61.

I used to play straight dominoes (with and without a single spinner) and muggins as a kid. I added other domino games over the decades. Played a lot of Jamaican dominoes in college and afterwards.

When you get to the part that says skipping to the end of a round... I would suggest explaining why the 4 and the 3 do not count this is at timestamp 2:32. Otherwise hands down this is the best explanation video of how to play fives. Great job explaining it.

Because 4 and 3 equal 7, not a multiple of 5
@kevinbrookes4870
@kevinbrookes4870 3 года назад
This more or less is the same as All Fives then? Just that when I read the rules to All fives it said something about scoring each 5 or multiple of 5 as 1pt and if using a Cribbage board the first player to 61 wins the game. So for example using a Cribbage board and scoring say 25 you would only get 5 pts on the crib board, you could be there all night with that scoring method I think. Also something about a bonus point in the All Fives rules I read, which I didn’t quite understand, maybe someone on here could explain . But this Muggins seems much easier thank you for posting.

At 2:49 when Player 2 gets rid of their last domino, can that player also make points? For example, if his last tile made a number which was a multiple of 5 when adding all the tile ends. Would they count those points ALONG with the points from the other players hands? Thanks.

Yes, player 2 gets points from the last played dominoes (if multiple of five) and the points in everyone’s hands rounded to nearest multiple of 5

At approx @3:50 you say the open total is 10... Yet previously you said that only one side of the spinner will count as the open total for the following player playing off the spinner... Wouldn't it be 5 for the open total if the player played the five blank?

Sir, can subsequent doubles played after the spinner be built upon on multiple sides/ends? For example, the double twos and double fours in your demo . . . How can they be played upon? Thank you.

You can play doubles (lay them down) but they are not considered “spinners.” You can’t play off these doubles’ sides. Hope this makes sense.

We play a bit different. The person that locks the board gets all the points in everybody's hand. If it is locked we reset the game as in he no longer has domino.we go back to the highest double starting out.also who ever ends with the last domino has domino. They can play whatever domino starting the round first double is the spinner.

Do you have to start with a double? I think in All Fives, which is more or less the same as Muggins, Player starting can lead with any bone.
@Oklahomajewel1
@Oklahomajewel1 3 года назад
We call this 5's but can also score 10, 15 etc. Whoever wins the round starts the next with any tile they want. If they play a 3/2 they get those 5 points.
@kevinbrookes4870
@kevinbrookes4870 3 года назад
@@Oklahomajewel1 You only count the ends. Playing a 3/2 as a starting bone would therefore not add up to 5.
@raggerrhinouk

The first round in a game must start with the highest double held within the players hands. If no doubles are held (ie they are all in the bond yard) then the domino with the highest value is played. After that first round in the game, the subsequent rounds can be played with any domino the player wants to use; until the game is won (be reaching the agreed number of points) and a new game starts 👍
@danieltomaino6051
@danieltomaino6051 Год назад
@@kevinbrookes4870 That is incorrect, if you are the first to play, and you play a 3/2 tile or a 4/1 tile or a 6/4 tile - you get the points for that. In this case 3/2 tile is 5 points, 4/1 tile is 5 points and 6/4 tile is 10 points.

@@kevinbrookes4870Im new to this but if you lay down your first domino in a new round as 3/2, would that not be two "ends" equalling 5?
@IIXLR8II
@IIXLR8II Год назад
What I don’t understand is what exactly creates an “End”? I know it’s not the complete tile that is counted, it’s just half of the tile that “sticks out” from the board. But when there’s multiple “Ends” on the board, it becomes a bit hard to read. ***How do you count “Ends” when there are multiple on the board?
@smileyjoe
@smileyjoe 6 месяцев назад
you've got it right, its just the ends of the tiles that stick out from the chain. The spinner and the other domines played vertically, the double-sided dominoes' ends sticking out from the chain don't count. The ends of the chain created off the spinner once again begin to count after the spinner is played on with a matching dominoe on the 3rd and 4th side. to avoid confusion, 4th side does not count just because the 3rd side is played. that is my understanding. hope this helps!

@burnttezzy

Because the game ended with points in your hand. You normally win the round with no dominoes or zero points in your hand.

@markketello5757

“The double two is four” You added the pips to get four, this can only be done on double tiles played sideways? What about the open side of the spinner, can that be used to create a multiple of five?
@danieltomaino6051
@danieltomaino6051 4 года назад
Yes to both questions. The double 2 is an end piece you count all the pips on it. And yes the spinner all the pips get counted as long as at least one side is open. For example at 0:52. The spinner would count as 12 and then plus 4 from the 6-4 tile, which is 16.

The way I play is whoever Dominos only gets the points of other players if they domino with points. if you domino without points you only get to go first in the next round. This prevents a 150 game being given away. Anyone else play like this
@smileyjoe
@smileyjoe 6 месяцев назад
i have never played that way, but i love hearing about the various house rules that people come up with. This is different but we used to play where you had to score 10 points (your first 5 doesn't count) in order to get on the scoreboard at all.
