This is by far the best version on the internet. One tiny comment- it would be much more helpful (for me at least) to have the right hand zoomed in on rather than the left because the chords are easy enough to look up whereas the actual picking is very difficult to see.

Hey, thanks a lot for making this video! Man this song is tough; the breakdowns are really helpful. One small piece of constructive criticism -- I got confused on a few parts of the intro (haven't made it to the rest of the song yet!) where you show the picking pattern but don't actually play all the notes. Listening to you play the full riff, I realized I was missing some notes and ended up having to watch at .25 speed to figure out what was going on xD it would be super helpful, from my perspective, if you could play every single note in the breakdown! Thanks again for posting this banger of a song. Such a beauty.

A lot of people think Dylan actually played this. In fact it was a session musician called Bruce Langhorne (ditto Girl from the North Country). This fact is obscured by the muddled cover notes on the 'Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' LP.

Ah, thanks for that.

@runtsmeadow6797
@runtsmeadow6797 Год назад
@@nickjohnson1208 No, Langhorne is quoted about this in 'Acoustic' magazine (sorry, can't remember the issue). But quite apart from anything else, have you ever heard a live performance of Dylan fingerpicking? If he was that good at it, why wouldn't he do it more often?
@jensblennow6037
@jensblennow6037 Год назад
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You really think Bob would sit idly by and just sing as someone else plays the guitar? Bob would never have done that, he always plays the guitar when singing. There is also a version of the song on the Witmark demos that is fingerpicked similarly, and there were no backing musicians whatsoever on the witmark demos so you are completely wrong.

I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon but is this made to be deliberately confusing? I'm playing this video over and over trying to decipher what you're playing. You very clearly show us the thumb patterns. When it comes time to show the finger pattern you become much less clear. Can't you just slowly demo the entire bar? Can't you give me a tab that shows both fingers and thumb? I'd really like to learn this song but your video seems like a tease. I'm very frustrated by it. I wish you'd demo it clearly. In the meantime, I give up...

Look for a basic lesson on Travis picking. This is gonna be a little too much of a challenge if you’re not already pretty solid with the basic Travis picking pattern. If you have that down you won’t find this lesson as difficult to follow.
