The interesting thinkg of this game is: If you play 2 People, 3, 4,5 or 6 its always a new dynamic. Teamplay is when you have 4 Players. Someday i will make a Vido - because the game is so good... its like a mix of chess and a easy card game... you can play fast... nice flow... you train your brain (because you have to think and do the best...) I just love it!

That's the version "Transfer" Durak because you can transfer/pass the attacking cards to the next player. The next players can do that, too. Example: P1->1x6 to P2, P2->2x6 to P3, P3->3x6 to P4, P4->4x6 to P1. There are also many variations of this version. Like everyone can attack but only up to 5 cards (not 6).

That's actually a rule we play with friends, however only first attack is 5 cards rest are 6, and with transfer version if a person has a trump card he can show it once and doesn't have to put it (if he wants to transfer it second time he has to put it)

i love the transfer rule. i play it so that you can cheat if you can get away with it. if the best suit is a heart and you counter with a diamond and no one notices its fine, but if they do you have to take the whole pile

That actually is the transfer rule. if the attacker gives you an 8 and you got all 3 other 8´s, then you may transfer the attack. with that, the original attacker can't any more cards and you would get an advantage but not that much since there would only be space for 2 other attack cards afterward. like that the defender wouldn't be struck by lightning. there are also people that use that rule with only one card which is wrong and destroys the fun factor of the game if everyone can just simply push the attack. also, you can not transfer if the one that defends already only has 3 cards left.

​@@barriath8841the people who use just one card is actually okay, especially if the cards are low ranked, because defender will get rid of much more cards if the attack was transferred on them, and the chances at successful beating is higher. I love when people give me 4 6's to 10's close to the end of the game where much of the low ranked cards are already lying on the side, it is really just a straight up win if you have collected the trump cards, or have higher ranked cards of all 4 types

The reason why this game is fun is somewhat sinister. The rules of the game allow to team up. If 3 players team up against 1 they can easily make them lose. If game is used to determine who's going to perform some unwanted task (example cleaning toilets) it becomes much more than just card game and almost a tool of abuse - abuse overall is much more fun than just card game and is the true reason behind rise of game's popularity. If you look in history the game became the most popular at the time in russia when it's sosciety was at peak of it's brutality. Thus the game overall is just as much about cards as it is about social engineering.

IMHO this rule much better epitomazes the cultural spirit of the game - and that is to pick one person who is a fool - usually someone who failed to make social alliances - and make him loose.

This name of the game has much more deeper and somewhat sinister background. The rules of the game lend easily towards social engineering. As in a group can predecide who the fool is play together against him get them lose and cement the fact who is the to be made fun of. Sometimes a group may even pick a labourous task to be performed by the loser at start of the game such as cleaning the dormitory's toilet.

Players call out the lowest value trump card they have

The dealer asks people “Who has 6?”. If all players are silent, he asks “Who has 7?” etc.

It doesn't matter if you can't and don't want to defend. If you say "I take the cards" then every attack can still throw cards at you to take. No attacker would throw valuable cards at you though. You can even successfully defend and then still decide to take all cards as a strategy if they're of high value.

As per rules - no difference. As per tactics - huge difference : the more you defend, the more cards are on the table, hence more opportunity for the opponents to throw even more cards at you. Consider this example : you're attacked by the 6 of hearts, you can only defend with the 8 of hearts since all your other cards are of different suit, and you know there are at least 2 eights in the hands of other players. At the same time, all other sixes are long discarded, if you just take it, you only take one card, if you choose to defend, you'll have at least 2 more eights thrown at you. As you try to beat them, you will introduce at least 1 new type of cards that your opponents can use against you, so chances are that all hell will break loose, and you will end up with a huge bunch of cards. Also, as noted by sedecim, if you are attacked with a valuable card, you just take it without wasting time and without introducing probability to be attacked with other more crappy cards that you don't need.

In the options for describing the rules (about a hundred variations), there are also options with a double deck. Although I have never seen people actually play like that. "Double" This game is played with 2 decks of 36 cards (72 cards in total). You can fight back according to the rules of "simple", "throw" (THAT VERSION WHICH IS OWN DESCRIBED IN THE VIDEO) or "translated" fool. If a player fights back with a card that is absolutely equal in value, the possibility of throwing up from other players is blocked (this move is not considered a transfer). The player who ends up with 52 or more cards loses immediately. I just don't see the point in using a dual deck for just two players - that's a whole ton of cards to play. Playing with one deck is already becoming quite a serious and tactical game, while playing with three or four players is more just a fun game.

Ok so in the beginning when he flipped over the ace of diamonds as the trump card, the diamond suit becomes the trump suit, meaning that it beats all other suits. So of somebody was to play a king of hearts, a 6 of diamonds would beat it because it is in the trump suit. But if a 7 of diamonds was played against a 6 of diamonds, the 7 would win because it is the highest out of the trump suit.

First goes player with lowest trump suit card, trump suit card is the one, which dealer after dealing cards to players, puts flipped and puts deck on top of it , so for ex. if trump suit is hearts, then player who has lowest heart suit card goes first.

Two players are kinda boring because the most intriguing part of this game is building social alliances. If 3 players team up they will always make the 4th player lose no matter the luck.

There are many many card games that are more similar to uno than this is. This really doesn't have much resemblance. You're basically just acting like Uno is the only card game you know where card suits and numbers either match or don't.

I learned that game in high school in the late 90s/early 00s. We always knew it as "Chinese Poker", have also heard it called "Big Deuce" more recently, Espeically with the rise in popularity of "Open Face Chinese Poker"
