Prof, you did such an INCREDIBLE job explaining the game. Your concise description of the basic rules are going to be so helpful for new players. Welcome to the FaB family!
definitely. while there are some more complex steps as part of the game this video did an excellent job covering all the basics well enough to get started.
From what I’ve heard, Flesh and Blood is pretty expensive. Is this true? If so, what is the general price range for a casual player? Are budget decks viable?
@@_somerandomguyontheinternet_ Blitz decks are the way to go if you want to get started playing the game! You should be able to pick them up easily after May 14th. Also, Unlimited product is for playing, 1st is geared more towards collectors. I would say grab a box of unlimited as well!
@@_somerandomguyontheinternet_ 1st edition cards are collector's items, but the unlimited print run is very affordable, with a couple exceptions like in any game. 🙂
I saw all the ads and internet mtg entities talking about this game for the past few months, but never saw a comprehensive guide on how to play it until right now. Thanks so much Prof, you da man 💕🤘
From what I’ve heard, Flesh and Blood is pretty expensive. Is this true? If so, what is the general price range for a casual player? Are budget decks viable?
@@_somerandomguyontheinternet_ Depends on what you consider expensive, but you are probably hearing that because of the 1st edition product prices. You can usually find Unlimited boxes of product for around $85-$100 per box. There are definitely budget decks available. Many current players put together basic decks to hand out for free or sell at a very reasonable price $5-$10. If you are looking to be a little more competitive, you will probably end up spending around $200 - $300 for a deck with some of the more rare cards.
Something I would like to add. There are two printings of each set. 1st edition printing which is a set number of boxes and unlimited printing. Unlimited is said to be printed until demand drops below a certain point. Do not get discouraged if you see booster boxes for thousands of dollars. Make sure you are searching for unlimited printings of the first 2 sets. 1st edition are mainly for collectors. LSS keeps high priced, limited print runs for collectors and unlimited for game play. Ensuring that their is space for everyone.
@@realandimaginedxyz First edition and unlimited is no longer a thing for fab. Starting with the 7th set, uprising, they changed to one box. The chase cold foils and now marvel versions are just rarer to get.
@@realandimaginedxyz the only difference between 1st edition and unlimited was 1st edition had special foiling called cold foils. Unlimited has rainbow foiling. So the cold foils from 1st edition were a limited number.
The Professor is one of the few people I've seen who can come off super corny and professional "Hey there kids, how is everyone feeling today? Good?" and yet is totally sincere lol
@@chuckturdburger4612 if only there was a powerful Merfolk spoiler designed for Modern that might power up the Merfolk deck Prof has been playing for years…
Discovered Flesh and Blood through Team Covenant, and it's great to see it get the recognition it deserves. The introduction of Talents (Light and Shadow) in Monarch is also an important example of the game's potential future, since to represent every current hero in all eight talents will take up to 4-5 years. Over 7 years in development, with 4+ years worth of planned content, it's no surprise this game feels so solid.
@@sethnofcks6448 they do have foils and rarities, even cards with rarities called “fabled” which is about 1 in 40 boxes. There not powerful to play, but there very cool to look at.
Can't express enough how well laid out and concise this video was. As to be expected from your channel! Love the content and very excited to have an amazing content creator like you on board for covering the game. Cheers!
It's a great game. The beauty of the company and the game is that if you have TTS, feel free to grab the company approved mod. Also check out the unofficial community discord.
FaB really seems fascinating, the idea of starting the game fully equipped and getting tired and battered as the game goes is very interesting and the steps and resource management is very original.
Going to my first in person event in like 8 years tonight. I've rewatched this 6 times its so useful. Thank you for showing this game and explaining it in such a concise and digestible format. Love your videos as always!
From a player who's been playing for over a year this is one of the best showcases of how to play FaB I've seen. Great job Professor, we are glad to see you picking up a deck of flesh and blood cards. Hope to see many more videos from you. :)
Prof welcome to the world of FaB and the video was AWESOME! So glad they gave you the Mentor card Librarian, it fits a professor so well. I like how FaB took the time to give you a card related to your youtube channel, unlike another TCG that I won't mention.
Thank you Professor. I was wandering how to play FaB but never got around to it and there you came, on white horse with shield and sword in hands (since as a hero you have two) showing exactly that... Given what's going on with MTG I wish I didn't come back to it year ago but start playing FaB instead.
Yessssss. Thanks prof! I hope this exposes a bunch of new players to the game. To all new players. Ignore first edition items unless you have the disposable income. This game is great! Welcome aboard.
When this tcg first came out, i get hooked by their artstyle and various border. But now, some dude on my lgs started playing with them and i had no idea how to play it. Thanks prof! Now, i will try to build a deck
Thank you for this! My interest was peaked after watching you interview with some flesh and blood content creators, I might actually be ready to step outside of magic
Just have to throw this out there - If you have a paper deck you want to test, or have nobody to play the game with, you can go to felt table and play flesh and blood against an AI opponent with your own paper cards! Right in your web browser! It’s a super cool resource! Major props to the creator
With the Professor as a Mentor for new interested potential players, i hope FaB will receive another boost because of this video. Thanks Prof for helping the FaB Community becoming bigger and bigger. That game deserves a big spot right next to Magic the Gathering. Greetings from Germany
From what I’ve heard, Flesh and Blood is pretty expensive. Is this true? If so, what is the general price range for a casual player? Are budget decks viable?
I think I might pick up a deck, I need a new card game since magic is so much money. Thanks for teaching me and any recommendations on a starting deck?
It is so great to have you join the Flesh and Blood community and start creating content for FaB!! What a fantastic video to teach gameplay! Well done Prof!
Thanks for the video! I'm so happy that Flesh and Blood is expanding in popularity! There is a huge and healthy community for this game. Many stores are holding online webcam events with randomized prizes. It's a blast! I wish someone would dispel the rumors about the game being crazy expensive, though. That's really only true for the 1st edition cards. Unlimited is totally accessible. Competitive decks are still a touch pricey because of the legendaries, and Crucible of War cards are going to be hard to come by until the unlimited run of that. Budget builds are totally possible, though. We need someone to make a video about that!
I just wanted to come and thank you for going to smaller channels around the community and taking time out of your day to answer a lot of community questions means a lot to me just started to get into flesh and blood and as soon as I played shadow brute I fell in love and my lgs used this video to teach us before we started to play I’ve had a lot of fun brings me back to the old days thanks a lot professor!!!!
I have been thinking about developing a game just like this. Commander but with equipment. Honestly I'm glad this game exists, its better than what I wouldve come up with and now I just get to play!
First professor video I have paid very close attention to in awhile...imagine a professor constantly PLEASED and HAPPY from a game :) FaB is here to stay! Keep it coming Prof!
"Pitching" cards like a boss! Flesh and Blood is a great game. I've been in for about 4 months now. Its another easy to learn and hard to play. Alot of backdoor strategy and tactical thinking , which makes it very fun to play. Even when you lose you don't feel bitter, you become better and learn by mistakes. Patience is a virtue and knowing when to pitch is key.
From what I’ve heard, Flesh and Blood is pretty expensive. Is this true? If so, what is the general price range for a casual player? Are budget decks viable?
Depends on what you want. But you can buy boxes for around 90 dollars. Packs are usually 3 to 4 bucks. If you are buying older sets they are expensive.
The out of the loop boomer here seeing the game for the 1st time from your video. Thanks for sharing this. Reminds me of some of the new table top deck builders I played a ton a few years back but has the zesty panache of the TCG.
This is brilliant and well done as always this will become a link to new players on the website I am building for community growth! You are the best and I am so excited to start to play this game competitively.
Glad to see another TCG getting love on this channel. Really wish Prof would've given some air time to the Final Fantasy TCG a couple years back, hands down the best card game I've played IMO, but I think that ship has sailed.
I literally got into FaB last week and was hoping you did a video on it. I can just show this to people when I tell them the rules and then play. My LGS doesn't have FaB but one an hour away does. I wonder if they're holding events or anything. Really excited about this new game. Edit: Talked to the owner, and he said they did have some FaB stuff and will be getting more with Monarch's release soon. Maybe I can even *play at* said LGS. That'd be great. It just feels so different and awesome to play at an LGS even if it's with the same people in my household.
One year ago, midway through the pandemic, I decided to return to Magic The Gathering after the LGS would open again (I did not play MTG since high school, so about 10 years). Little did I know that in a few days after my decision, I'd come across this video that would change my life and at least the next couple of years. And even though I do actually play EDH casually from time to time nowadays, my number 1 game is now Flesh and Blood :-)
A friend of mine gave me a demo deck and told me how to play, and I was kinda blown away by how similar it seemed to UFS/Universus. Feels just like that game if you started off with a bunch of Foundations/Assets already in play and got rid of progressive difficulty in the attack chain.
Gotta love it. Proff i remember the things you said you about FaB. A lot of people are totally not on board but all it takes is a youtuber or 2 to get the sheep rolling in 👏
This is easily the best learn to play video out there. A great resource for new players that explains everything. Some of the info the prof shared was hard for me to find when I started playing; great video!
This video got me into FaB and I'm so glad I watched it. I went to a pre-release for Monarch and had a blast. I was even able to get a box of 1st edition at MSRP from my local game store. Can't wait to play in my first even this week and already looking forward to Kingdoms.
Hey guys here on my second watch. I wish I could say what I wanna say but it’s beyond words this is one of the best RU-vid videos I’ve ever seen and I just want you to know your hard work is appreciated!
Hey Prof! Been listening to you for years and your product reviews (excellent). This was a great video and perfect for players interested in playing. I think the librarian was the perfect FaB card for you to reveal. A mentor to many. Welcome to the FaB Fam.
LSS has made so many great moves, even doing a virtual event during COVID where stores could charge entry (and add prize support if they wished), but LSS covered the shipping of prizes to individual players. People got to play games for prizes, stores got to make some money, LSS took on the costs. They've been wonderful to watch.
@@DecksandDraughts unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to get starter decks so until that's sorted there's no chance, nobody is gonna buy boosters without something to build on already :/
@@jacket2848 I see your point, but let's not generalize. The game is awesome enough that some people will buy boosters in place of starter decks if it's their only choice. Cheers :)
@@danielyarsky6128 when I first started playing, and realized "mana screw" and "land flood" didn't exist in the game... oh my god it was a breath of fresh air! Been true love ever since, lol. Cheers!
Such a clear and concise 'learn to play' video! I can't wait to see the game grow from all of your efforts in spreading the word. Thanks for the great focus on such a great game!
You know, the way that the fight goes back and forth reminds me of the Chaotic TCG. When 2 creatures would fight, you take turns drawing and playing attacks until one of the creatures defeats the other. You can use abilities and Mugic as well to try and make your creature be the one who stands in the end. It was a fun game, I loved it very much
Throwing in all the cards and bought a booster box of Monarch, Arcane Rising and Welcome to Rathe. Better late than never, thanks again Prof for introducing me to a new TCG!!
At last my favorite RU-vid channel and my favorite tcg fab together the joy I have and big smile can never be taken away now. Professor from the fab community we appreciate u and love ya welcome.
This game sounds similar to Universus. I got hooked on that when I was in school in Mississippi but can’t find games anywhere. I will have to check it out since this is getting so popular.
This game reminds me so much of Raw Deal, which my LGS got into a while back. I have a lot of good memories from that obscure wrestling card game and the people at my LGS I played it with, and once I can safely return to my LGS I'd love to make some memories playing Flesh and Blood.
Fantastic learn to play video! I’ve been playing for a little over a year, and this video will be great to help out new players down at the lgs. Thanks Professor!
@4:55 "You need to pitch or discard cards" - This is incorrect. Pitched cards *are not discarded* . Pitched cards go to the bottom of your deck at the end of the turn, they are *not* discarded.
This is true in the technical sense, however a pitched card is removed from your hand and feels like a discard in that way. Small slip of the tongue and good you made the distinction
WELCOME to Flesh and Blood! We are so happy to have you in our community! You did a great job, as always, with explaining how to play FaB. Way to go PROF! Keep these videos coming
Welcome aboard Professor! Great to have you! I have been playing FAB since Oct 18 when it was introduced in the states to LGS. I have been watching your MTG videos and TCG accessories videos for years. Very much enjoy your content. And this video, as I expected, was very well put together and informative! Thank you for showing FAB some love, and look forward to more content!
I can’t wait for Monarch. So happy to see The Professor come on over to this community. I really hope we see more videos on it. Maybe we can see some booster box games? I’d love to see his reaction when the common cold foil equipment pays for the whole box itself.
Its gonna be difficult to get 1st ed boxes though. Monarch isn't even out and boxes are well above £300 and they're going to go even higher once print runs are confirmed
I'd love to see more FaB on your channel. Keep up the great work Professor! I'll be using this video to help teach friends and family how to play. One side note worth mentioning, as your audience is primarily MtG fans; FaB is not on a rotation schedule like MtG. And, as far as I'm aware, it never will be. So your cards never lose legality (unless on the very rare occasion there is a specific card banning).
