@Paul D Villa Hi Paul, I have C harps in stock in the Session Steel model. The 1847 model is currently out of stock but I have more arriving this week, so you can order from www.wildetuning.com Thanks
I am a Lynyrd man since early 70`s and I must say that your harp version of Freebird really gets shiver down my spine. Totally awsome, Will! Even though I am a 64 year old geezer and guitar player it was a true joy to watch this incredible step by step instructions on how to play one of the most epic rock tunes ever made. Your instructions are so educational that I almost got the feeling that I could pick up that harp and just rock the Freebird out. Really enjoy watching and hear your awsome playing. Greetings and Cheers from Leif in Sweden.
I've listened to your solo about 100 times in the last month. Thank you for directing me towards an instrument I've always wanted to learn but never have. This solo helped guide me towards pursuing a lifelong goal of learning how to play the harmonica. You and Juzzie Smith have both helped guide me in the right direction. Again, thank you.
Damn, he be looking at himself like.. "Whoa that guy knows how to do this harmonica stuff. Impressive." Thanks for the content. You encouraged me to pick up the harmonica.
I started learning this solo months ago by working on your video in super-slow motion. I only know the first 20 seconds well 😀and when I watch the whole video I realize that the road is very long before I get to the end😟. I went back to songs that were easier to learn but with this new video I’m going to try to go a little further. 👍 Thank you, thank you so much, you’re really the best. 👏👏👏
This is fantastic Will. Thank you for taking the time to make it. For those aspiring to get better, getting a "behind the scenes" look makes all the difference. Can't wait to get my Will Wilde tuned harp!
Well let‘s see if I have what it takes to do this solo: 1. Wilde Tuned harmonica in C - check! 2. The skill to bend, to play high notes and use throat vibrato - check! 3. Will Wilde’s insane speed and lung capacity - f*ing NOPE!! XD
Exactly. It still amazes me that he can play a solo that is about 90% draws without going blue in the face. I'm willing to bet on some of his exhales he was damn near ready to burst a lung.
Just got your harmonica today. Thank you! I have been a Lee Oskar harmonica fan for over 20 years because of the ease of play. Wow. Put yours to my lips and bending is easy and it has a sound that can really cut through. Just a few hundred hours of practice and I'll be doing Freebird too. :)
Reckon I gotta buy a Wilde tuned harp now, not only will I play this by the years end but I will do you proud! Pick a song that never lets you put the harp down, I think I found it I’ve been bending notes and free playing but haven’t learned any actual scales yet tho
Awesome! Absolute favorite solo of yours. Gonna be a minute on this one, esp. since I'm still making my way on the three week course.. Good motivation to get my bends down. Also shout out to the Whitesnake shirt! the 80's were good to me. (and probably your parents too) 😉
Cant believe RU-vid didn't show me this video earlier. I have a Suzuki Songstar Chromatic Harmonica, my guess is the slider would make it much more difficult, not to mention that I've lost practice and my lungs will probably be hurting after this. Thank you for giving me something worthwhile for my next vacation bucket list.
How did you become a harp player? Did you want this and how long was it before you could play ? You probably just had that god given talent, thanks for the videos
This is just so informative, not to mention just amazing and awesome. I was so pleased to tell you personally how great I thought you r playing of Free Bird was, when you played at Bramber/Upper Beeding. I hope to see you there again soon.
I've always enjoyed the sound of harmonica, so much so that I bought one a few years back just to have tickle hear and there on. After having just watched this video I think it might be time to call it a day! :D Seriously, how can you inhale THAT much? :/ It's just not possible, and I'm out of breath just watching you. @.@ Seriously, it was brilliant to watch and listen to, very educational and told me there is so much I don't know/understand about harmonica artistry.
i think you should enter americas got talent with this- Simon will lose his collective chit on this as per the rest of the judges- this is just unheard of
Now I'm even more blown away by breaking it down! Will why Don't your page have notifications? I would love to know every time you upload. Thanks for sharing Brother.
I got to jam this with Mike Estas of Lynyrd Skynyrd I appreciate will for putting this out, but he doesn’t care about his fans whatsoever I could’ve helped and spread the word and put this video at three years ago of me playing this but I don’t wanna make anyone any money that doesn’t reciprocate
Will Wilde. Brilliant breakdown and playing examples of this tune. A question about the harp I'm going to get for this tune : The harp you're using in this tutorial, is it the 'Wilde-tuned Rock Harmonica 1847 in C' ? I think it's this one, or I'm mistaken, and its the '1847 Classic Wilde-Minor tuning C-minor. By the way. Your 'Free Harmonica Course' is great learning and leads into your 'Ultimate Blues Harmonica Soloist Course' very nicely. After my 6-years on my self-learning harp curve I constantly struggled with some related harp theory/music/playing aspects, that if I had understood/learned at the onset my learning curve would have been easier going forward. Through your two courses your teachings have thus far into the 'Ultimate Blues Soloist' been providing me with aspects I've missed, or just didn't understand before. In these courses your teachings have seamlessly broke aspects down. So, for me thus far the 2 courses have turned a light on to deeper understanding as to what I'm actually doing on the harmonica, in a song, and how it's all connected. Even my improvising skills have become better because of a now deeper understanding of the scales and other techniques you draw attention to. Even at this point now I'm a more knowledgeable and better harmonica player. So even after my years of playing I can say it does pay dividends to revisit and take steps backwards to find the missing links on the learning curve, so as to move ahead as a player in wider more positive strides. Your 2 courses have thus far been solid foundational pillars for me. Wish I had this course material and well broken down explanations when I started out. Thanks Will Wilde. 😁👍. To be clear, I posted my thoughts only because I'm a happy camper student of Will Wilde's 2 courses, and his many other tutorials over the years. I don't know Will personally, and I don't gain anything monetarily, or otherwise in any ways. Just expressing my own view as an amateur harmonica player/student of the courses/tutorials. 😁👍.
Yes Mr Will thank you 🔥💯 I got your email first thing this morning I've been suckin on the tin sandwich since 11:00 this morning .. sounds great also I completed your entry beginner (free course ) I'm gunna sign up for the paid one very shortly alota great stuff in their there.. keep on killing it 🙏
My respect level from you went up another 10000 steps after I first heard this. Your breath control is insane and for anyone who hasn’t played one of these harps that draw bend on the high notes, you have no idea how much control this takes. Im dumbfounded!!! Will I’m getting that high pitch squeal when I try to take hole 7 down the 3rd semi tone. I can bend it half and a whole tone fine but past that it’s squeals….. what could I be doing wrong? Also I can’t get hole 10 to bend at all. Btw I am using an Ab Wilde tuned harp. I do have an A powerbender and I can bend the 9th& 10 th hole on it (though not with much control) and both harps are the Seydel 1846 if this helps. Maybe it’s the steel Reeds I’m not used to???
I’ve been able to play this song since the day it came out and I’ve never received any shout out from Will Wild, so what’s the point. I’ve played this song 300 times note per note.
After this I think I know what will be my gift to my cousin, he plays pure chicago blues, but needs to work on a technique a lil bit ! Otherwise he is a killer
Hi Will, I bought your wild tuned rock harmonica 1847 classic key c, it’s my first harmonica, so I know I’m using it wrong, when I use it, it sounds like an accordion, it doesn’t sound as tight and rock ‘n’ roll as when you use it, do you have any tips how to make it sound more like more rock and less like an accordion? Thanks in advance!
I kind of already did here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-swaOMMymTzM.html They're are great harps. They're basically the same as the 1847 Classic but with plastic comb instead of wood. I have played both for the last 10 years and still can't really tell any difference between them to be honest.
