With that, he gains an additional weapon die of damage on crit, can drop to 1hp when he would have been reduced to 0 (again?), automatic intimidation proficiency, and +2 strength and +1 constitution. Really focusing on big damage and not dying, huh? Cap strength earlier than before and add more to constitution or charisma.
@@vecna2101 why cant orcs be intelligent? look at eberrons orcs and Exandrias orcs. they dont have a intelligence debuff and to be honest the Volo's version is pretty much considered dead. and dont come at me with the "Oh , wElL oRcS CaNt BE sMaRt BeCAUse TheYrE EviL!!!!" thats lazy writing. There isnt any race restriction on classes and orc wizard works fine, orc artificer works fine, the old "oh well Lore says they aint smart" doesnt work because of the variety of worlds including the ones I mentioned earlier that state that orcs are just as smart as all other races. Calling an entire race stupid is lazy writing. calling an entire race evil is lazy writing.
I don’t think you’re understanding brutal critical correctly. You don’t get to double the extra d6s from the greatsword. With 2 brutal critical, you get the 2d6 normal, another 2d6 from the regular crit mechanics, and then 2d6 from brutal. 6d6 total. Not 8d6 total.
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 honestly I personally Homebrew that you can choose which your character uses when you first get one of the weapons and you can swap whenever you want. It makes it where you can just prefer mauls, or greatswords instead of d12 or 2d6.
For a brutal, it doesnt increase by 2d6 its increases but a single hit die, so 1d6. Which is why I think a great axe is the best weapon to use becasue it does 1d12 damage
Personally I went full Warlock with my Ganondorf build for two reasons: he's repeatedly described as a powerful mage, and he's not Ganondorf if he can't make his own Demiplane boss room, where he can True Polymorph into a Pit Fiend with unlimited Fireball (or if the fates allow, the ability to summon an Erinyes [cough]Twinrova[cough]), and then after he's sealed away just Plane Shift back. Variant Human, went with Moderately Armored because he's always rocking that breastplate, followed by Spell Sniper and War Caster for extra range on Eldritch Blast, Shocking Grasp for the Smash Bros.-inspired close-range lightning hands, and a bonus to Concentration checks is always welcome. Invocations mostly the same, with the additions of Improved Pact Weapon, Lifedrinker, Thirsting Blade, Sign of Ill Omen (he's gotta be able to curse people) and finally Ascendant Step (given he usually doesn't fly so much as float in one spot). Though I actually went with The Fiend for subclass, mostly for the once a day d10 bonus to a check or save, a free damage resistance of your choice every short/long rest, and the ability to punch someone so hard they get teleported to the space between dimensions, but also the Wall of Fire so you can keep people in your boss arena, and Demise was the king of demons so it lines up lore-wise. Sure the raw damage and tenacity is greatly lacking compared to a Barbarian, but I feel it's justifiably closer to his usual feel, and when there's like seven different magic items for boosting Strength to godly amounts I feel I can get away with a 14 in STR/DEX/CON when you can use your CHA for bonus necrotic damage and Eldritch Blast damage, plus aforementioned Eldritch Smite, then as a last resort turn into a 300 HP devil with a +13 to CON Saves to keep up that Concentration DC of either 10 or the damage taken. Also, Entertainer background for proficiency with Pianos.
@@cadend6925 They get the ability to cast a single 6th, 7th, 8th, and eventually 9th level spell with the Mystic Arcanum class feature. They cant swap out those spells and can only use them each once per long rest. so lvl 20 locks can know both true polymorth and demiplane as they are different spell levels.

@@clothar23 That's part of the compromise of D&D, can't exactly take twenty levels in two classes for a character build unless you're running the campaign. So I went with the most combat-oriented Warlock that isn't Hexblade so that you can rock a fair CON modifier, get an extra attack with option to Smite, both a ranged and melee damage cantrip option, resistance to one damage type every day, 1/day 1d10 bonus to a save, 25 temporary hit points every time you bring something to 0 HP, with 17 AC no Mage Armor required. And it unlocks the previously mentioned demon form with enough attacks for a level 20 fighter, enough HP for a level 20 barbarian, and enough at-will Fireball for a level 20 sorcerer. But ultimately he loses to a teenager with a +3 sword and a glass bottle that's immune to your Hallow spell set to Fear/Darkness, so he can't be THAT good. Plus, Wizards of the Coast didn't want to let any other class besides Wizard cast Invulnerability so it kind of limits options on being a melee caster juggernaut.
Have a party of three. A Wizard of "Wisdom" to cast Polymorph and someone of "Courage" who can cast Enlarge. Now you are a giant boar who can trample anything in it's path.
I'd have thrown another two warlock levels in there somewhere to get access to polymorph so you can start fights by transforming into a pig demon (reflavoured giant ape)
@Ryan Lang I agree. Plus, 6th-level Hexblade Warlocks get access to an undead minion. Of course, you have to be the one to kill the enemy, and seeing that your Warlock level cap will be 7, your undead minion will be really weak. Flavor-wise, though, your undead minion is supposed to be weak. Sucks that you can only have one minion at a time, though.
@@pyron5277 As great as that trait is, Ganondorf is a balanced martial warrior as well as magic user. Putting so much stock into his physical traits feels like underpowering him in regards to his magical proficiency.
I'm currently playing a Goliath Hexblade with a Halberd (about to multiclass into a Vengeance Paladin), and he is the most brutal character I have ever made xD I picked up Polearm Master, and now he hits everything all the time :3 Oh and, armor of Agathys is awesome on a Goliath. They hit you, they take damage. If they hit you hard, you use Stone's Endurance and keep AoA longer, and they take damage. You can literally kill someone when they punch you in your perfect jawline, and take no damage like an Anime character after a power-up xD
I am surprised Dorf wasn't a Half-Orc for flavor: Savage Attacks (He hits hard enough to do emotional damage.) Relentless Endurance (He keeps coming back.) Menacing (He's pretty Intimidating.) Just saying seemed pretty flavorful. All constructive no offense intended.
To be fair though have you seen him fight in Windwaker. He’s unhittable without a counterattack or light arrows pelting him because he just casually blocks you with lightning reflexes and then he spirals through the air when you try to get away from him. Honestly Ganondorf would probably have all 18s and 20s so it’s understandable something had to give.
Eldritch Hamster True but he’s almost definitely a Warlock in that one as well so CHA would be his casting modifier, and he might have decent INT but his WIS would be garbage as he does get eventually outplayed by a kid in an adult body. So it still works out.
You can do it with high int, but it would be really useless(except maybe from a roleplay perspective) since you don’t have skills that need int and also you don’t need int for anything since ur a barbarian/warlock
Everyone is saying Goliath. But what about that Half-Orc ability that let's you go to 1 HP instead of being knocked unconcious once per long rest. Makes you even harder to kill. As if he wasn't hard enough to kill already.
Ganondorf has always been smart, How else would he infultrate hyrule and become the king right hand man. That's just oot the reason he seems stupid is because he is an honorable man, I mean why would you kill a child?
I’d definitely pick oath of conquest paladin instead of barbarian, those sweet sweet divine smites are just as potent and far more reliable than the 1/20 chance of a brutal crit. Plus being able to cast spells as a spellcasting class is pretty good.
The abilities of a conquest paladin would also suit Ganon but he's not the type to take oaths. He doesn't make promises, he simply DOES. Aside from maybe swearing to destroy Link!
Ganon is different depending on the game: - Ocarina's one is a sorcerer with abilities to make clones and change between human and beast, also is the king of the Gerudo, so it has an army. - Wind Waker's is leader of a disperse army of creatures. He has a giant bird, is literally don't affected by any weapon without magic, has two swords and can generate giant puppets and dark clones. - BotW's is a godlike evil creature who can summon creatures (including bligth ganons) once a month, can control technology and can infest creatures like dragons. - Zelda 1's is just a evil pig who can be invisible and can shot magic spheres, and it's supposed to control a monster army - ALttP's is a evil pig sorcerer who own his own evil dimension (or mirror version of a limited land) and can make alter egos with mind control powers and spells - Twilight Princess version I think is like Ocarina's Zelda series have a lot of different versions of the same character, the same as Zelda
I fiddled around with the idea of making ganondorf, ended up with 5 levels in battle master and 15 levels in fiend pact of the blade warlock. got some pretty nasty spells to remind you that ganondorf is a sorcerer, meanwhile, he can still demolish tons of things with his greatsword. he can use eldritch blast to make it harder to run away from him, he can levitate at will, and he can expend his spell slot and superiority die when he gets a crit, doing 7d8+2d6 before the crit calculations/bonus rolls/however your group handles crits. he still managed to have about 180 hp, no extra feats needed, so he could easily boost his strength and charisma up to 20, and is just all around terrifying. as far as level 20s go, i dont think he is anything too outlandish, but he could definitely terrorize a small group of players a few levels lower than him.
personally i'd argue fighter for Ganondorf, because he wears heavy armour and is proficient with many weapons. Rogue because he's the king of thieves (evil too!). well done though! you captured his persona well enough.
Except Ganondorf, in literally EVERYTHING, is described as an Evil Sorcerer. Yes he's the King of Thieves, but he's no thief. Not even close. He's only called that because the Gerudo are a race of Warrior Women that are excellent Assassins and, thus, thieves. In Ocarina of Time, they're literally Ninja Women. But Ganondorf isn't an Assassin. He's a Brute Magic User.
I made my own Ganondorf for a D&D game. Fiend warlock/conquest paladin/draconic sorcerer. Highest to lowest Charisma (he's a politician and a king) Strength (the only part of the tri force that didn't ditch him was power) Constitution (the man has been murdered more than 10 times) Intelligence (he's a war tactician, and a scholar of magic) Dexterity (he usually will just take a hit rather than dodge it) Wisdom (the ultimate symbol of wisdom ignored him) Remember, he's not just a warrior. He's a warlock. He needs a lot more magic than 1 or 2 levels in sorcerer. Make sure you choose pact of the blade as a warlock (he summons swords and tridents, with no reasonable place to put them) and give him Eldritch blast (dead man's volley). As a paladin, give him a lot of smites (he's the symbol of power in the Zelda series). Sorcerer is just here to give him more magic and a bit of (draconic) bulk
Honestly, you could probably just do conquest paladin/hexblade warlock and achieve something more accurate to in game (his beast form is more of a boon or "curse")
Minor gripe: Ganondorf is not human. He's Gerudo. So he would be more suitable as a half orc, as long has your table isn't using variant human/feats rules. He always resurrects and is a multistage boss so having the unrelenting endurance feature is extremely thematic. Also variant human is extremely overplayed in build breakdowns because it is so flexable. If anyone deserves to have some orc blood in DnD it's Ganondorf. Edit: A fallen paladin could also be an honorable mention because Ganondorf in my eyes, is a fallen from grace character. It still uses charisma as a cssting stat so it's slightly optimal. Smiting with a greatsword can be your way of the "darkness". Also you still get beefy hitdie and all the benfits of being a frontliner mixed with casting and literal god given powers.
@@BJGvideos Probably half orcs as well. There's only women Gerudo in the games (to my knowledge, it's a curse for low male birth rate?). So you can mox the original DnD lore for half orcs and say they are all produces of rape where the tribe grows when more half-orcs are on pilgrimages to their settlements. They'd only accept females inside because of a fear of males (just like the games). It fits rather well with classic DnD lore.
@@BJGvideos Yeah, the original lore is that they were all rape children. Orcs were stereotypical "rape and pillage" green guys. It's pretty messed up and edgy but that was original DnD. Personally I like seeing the grim side of the world (kind of like a 40k take on DnD). WotC is straying away from the past for good reasons though, there's a wide audience now.
Everyone is saying he could've been an orc or half-orc, but I'd say Beasthide Shifter would be a great fit for flavor. You're not going full on pig monster, but you get a little bit of pig monster.
Ganondorf should have a higher intel, mostly because he outsmarted the king of hyrule, searched the great sea for princess zelda, manipulated a twilight citizen, knew how to beat Midna who was wearing a Fused shadow, and started a war between hyrule and the gerudos.

The thing about the Hexblade curse is that it's not the same as the normal hex spell, being that Hex(normal) has your attacks do 1d6 bonus damage and they have disadvantage on a choice attribute for saving throws. Hexblade's curse only does your proficency(or charisma, I keep forgetting) as bonus damage, you crit on a 19 on the die roll, and when the target dies the mark is consumed and heals you for your warlock level+charisma(or proficiency, again I keep forgetting)
Sadly the Eberron book hadn’t come out at the time you made this video but because it is out I think that making Ganon a Beasthide Shifter is better due to the fact that Ganon is able to turn into a pig monster and Beasthides have a relation to boars.
Yeah but...pretty much everyone is tall compared to Link. And at 7 foot 2 or something like that, Ganondorf may be SMALL for a Gerudo, unless they got MUCH taller on average by the time BotW rolled around ("I'm only eight feet tall!" one of the women bemoans in a bar).
You could've used Curse Bringer, which does this. You can create a greatsword forged from silver, with black runes etched into its blade, using your Pact of the Blade feature. If you reduce a target cursed by your Hexblade’s Curse to 0 hit points with this sword, you can immediately change the target of the curse to a different creature. This change doesn’t extend the curse’s duration. When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can expend a spell slot to deal an additional 2d8 slashing damage to the target per spell level, and you can reduce the creature’s speed to 0 feet until the end of your next turn. This does more damage than Eldritch Smite by a wide margin, you get the power to use great weapon mastery, reduce the speed of the target to zero, and when you kill the person your fighting, you get to switch the target of your hexblade's curse to someone else.

Nothing wrong with the build, but just wanted to point out that Ganon didn't CHOOSE the triforce of power, he was stuck with it because the triforce of courage and wisdom denied him after he tried to assemble the full triforce
Man if only there was a way of flavoring a transformation into Demon Ganon into this build. Rock solid build regardless! Who needs to rage when you can SMITE WITH THE POWER OF DAAAARKNESS!!!!
For lore reasons, he can't be a warlock. It's against his character to bind himself into the service of another, and canonically, he IS a warlock patron himself (Zant's entire conquest was through power on loan from Ganondorf). If there is a caster class with a motif of stealing magic from others as opposed to earning it yourself, that would fit him much better. I'd personally argue that the trident (or a pike flavoured as a trident) is the more iconic of his weapons, but greatsword still works.
How bout we make the triforce of power his patron, flavour it as a piece of the gods that he draws power from, but he doesn't suffer from the sugar daddy-sugar baby system?
Actually his patron IS the Triforce of Power or in this case a more deeper lore is DEMISE. (For those that played Skywayrd Sword) so him getting his powers from a GREATER power is totally within him. Plus he's Ganondorf.
Demise is long dead before Ganondorf is ever born, and contrary to popular misconception, Ganon is NOT Demise reincarnated, he is the principle effect of Demise's curse of unending hatred. Additionally, Ganondorf was already an accomplished and powerful magic-user before he ever touched the Triforce. He's either a wizard or sorcerer.

Diamond Head from Ben 10 Seeing as how shardmind isnt an actual race in 5e, I guess go with half orc or warforged (HEAVILY flavored appearance wise), and I'd personally go with some stone sorc.... Idk, I like giving ideas to people 😅 Edit: someone just suggested to me earth genasi, and that makes way more sense
I might consider Fallen Aasimar for this build. Between Ganondorf's kinda sorta divine lineage and the extra damage from Necrotic Shroud (plus the two resistances) I think it would fit very well.
Dunno, Ganon never felt like a barbarian to me. He's not all that angry and Barbarians tend to be fairly wildernessy. I'd go Oath of Vengeance Paladian and Hexblade Warlock.
I had a different take on him but it still uses Barb as the primary class My friend and fellow DM made a Barb Path called Path of the Furious: this Path has your Barb growing one size larger when raging and can duel wield heavy weapons This fits with Ganondorf's Demon King form, specifically from OoT Second class is Fiend Warlock: his powers are not his own due to him being the reincarnation of Demise(sorry spoilers) so I thought being a Warlock would fit If you want to have a Ganondorf without Demise's influence, go with Shadow Sorcerer
Asking more from curiosity rather than as a criticism, why not Conquest Paladin? Ganondorf does tend to use a lot of fear and dark power, and it doesn't mean shifting the stats around at all but gives full access to spellcasting, as well as Paladin Spellcasting.
Conquest Paladin was considered, but the Zealot won out for... being the Zealot. I just read about it and thought it sounded perfect for him with the Mutlistage Boss Fight ability baked right in.

Ganondorf is a noble beasthide (boar) shifter, conquest paladin/shadow sorcerer multiclass. If you go far enough into sorcerer, his 'Hound of Ill Omen' is Phantom Ganon.
Ganondorf outsmarted kingdoms man, and I personally say his intelligence should have been where you put charisma, but with how you built him we could easily slam points into INT later on.
I would argue that Demise should be the patron. Just tweak hexblade a bit and make it where Demise gives whatever sword your using power instead of the sword giving you power
Just for clarification, the PHB says as long as you are not wearing heavy armor for fast movement. so in medium armor you still get the increase in movement. so it gets better!
Idk if this is the right way to go about this, but I'd be highly amused with a Jenny Everywhere character build video. Jenny's an open-source, freely licensed character that the original creator made to be usable in anything. I've only seen her in a few comics and mentioned once or twice in fanfiction, but it'd be fun seeing if she's possible to stat.
Episode 60 of the Fire Emblem stats: Ganondorf Dragmire, aka Ganon. Ganondorf has a bunch of strengths on his end: brawling, authority (since he's a king), reason, swords, axes, heavy armor, and riding. However, there is one weapon type that he can not use: faith, since light harms him. Ganon has great HP and offense on both ends. However, his Achilles' heel is in resistance and he's not fast at all.
Ganondorf is a warlock barbarian at most. The man is extremely intelligent and has taken over Hyrule and many other realms completely. He doesnt just trick kids.
coming back to this was sword coast adventurer's guide out? you could have done 4 levels of oath of the crown paladin instead of 5 warlock levels since you didn't need the Cha for attack rolls and you can smite while raging (not casting a spell). plus Paladin gets you healing to make you last longer in a fight, a fighting style like great weapon fighting, defense, or unarmed if you DM is cool. You can also get to lvl16 barb for another ASI and if your DM lets you get unarmed fighting (not allowed raw) you can open up tavern brawler if you were forced to get it earlier for flavor.
I have a very specific thing to add. His pact weapon should be a trident. It's a common weapon he ends up using and it is a versatile weapon so it should work as a pact weapon.
I created a Ganondorf with Oathbreaker paladin level 7, Echo Knight fighter level 6, Shadow Magic Sorcerer level 3, Fiend Warlock level 4. And I think it works really well mainly thanks to how Ganondorf fights.
Concept: Play an entire campaign as a high level rogue(my tip is Rogue + Monk for an agile scimitar swinging badass), let everyone get attached to the group, then have your character turn into this as a villain for the next campaign
He's actually a powerful magic user even without it. The Triforce is more like a bonus power. I'm not even sure if it does anything other than make him and his magic spells stronger (and let him turn into a pig for...reasons)
Warlock 5/Barbarian 15 and your first con is "can't cast spells while raging"? Take Eldritch Smite, turn those spell slots into burst damage on your sword like a paladin that recharges on a short rest.
Have you ever considered just allowing human races to be reskinned versions of other races and/or granting a 1st level (optional, mostly for flavor) feat to all races to reduce the number of time you make variant humans?
Not a bad idea, there are a LOT of humans. I mostly just strive for accuracy, and recommend people using the builds just think of them as templates to tweak and adjust to make the character their own
Ok personal opinion time: Race should be fallen aasimar as it gives you that divine edge to your very being that an embodiment of hatred and calamity should be. Beyond that substitute the warlock levels with either oath of conquest or oath of vengeance paladin stuff. Gives you roughly the same things but is a little more in character and lets you take advantage of rage full time.
Because of Rage, I'd suggest less combat spells and definitely no concentration also a solid other build is sorcadin because of his arcane might being more powerful at least in OOT, in Twilight Princess this build is perfect
Love your builds but a Paladin/warlock or paladin/sorcerer would fit ganondorf alot better. Also remeber almost all he did was for his people in the beginning. Yeah he changes after he gets the triforce but that's due to demise curse. And he can still be a paladin in that altered mindset.
Now you can use your warlock spell slots for eldritch smites which don't conflict with your rage as they technically aren't spells though personally since Ganondorf does tend to wear some heavier looking stuff so I would have made him a conquest or oath breaker paladin instead of a barbarian which would make him a hexadin which we all know how much damage they can do.
