We perform this song every gig. It is one of the few songs that can still get my 57-year-old body to pogo jump and go bananas during the final chorus almost every time. I love playing this song. The dynamics are SO important playing this song. Kelly is spot on with the playing. You can get away with doing this in standard tuning also, but you need to be judicious with your muting the E strings.
A couple years ago I was in double Drop D, and heard this song but couldn’t really figure it out. Thanks for the lesson. Looking forward to tomorrow’s heavier lesson 👍🏻
@@CC-qb9sm Hey CC I’m well. How are you? I just started posting weekly vids on my RU-vid channel. Check it out if you can. Next week I start “better timing” I started late at 58 and 63 now. Trying to improve, lessons helped but my self discipline needs work.
Great lesson. ( I've been performing this song, both playing guitar & singing it at the same time, for decades. ) Man, I absolutely love the warm light crunch you're getting with your rig here. Fantastic sound. That's money right there. Far too many players try to over-do their gain in so many tunes. ( I do know the studio album version of this tune is much cleaner, but I really dig your sound !!! )
I agree. Perfect economy of words, parts succinctly explained and where possible relating changes to specific lyrics (like e.g. where to use that signature triad on your lesson on "Stop Draggin my heart....". I'm a relatively advanced player and so I like to get to the parts, not discuss my life as a guitarist. So if I want a quick and thorough over-view of a song I need to learn or review, I look here first. Thanks. Very nice.
Kelly, great vid.... I have a dork question: What pick are you using here, and are you holding it in a different way? (I.e...playing with the side or shoulder?)
