This song was one of the main reasons why I wanted to learn play to play piano (I'm usually guitar player). I love the piano music of Satie, Grieg and Tschaikowski.
Guitar and piano seem to complement each other really well, I've only been learning the piano for 8 months but notice transposing between the two is very common.
U said that 4 months ago now you've Been playing for nearly exactly 1 year in this time what have you accomplished and have you ever taken a long break or just stopped
I have been watching your videos for about a year now and I truly enjoy them. It is clear that you are doing what you love and you have inspired people to strive. I am 74 years young and started formal piano lessons about 1 1/2 years ago. I try to practice daily for an hour, but often the time gets away from me and two hours have passed. Thank you for the videos! I am a martial arts instructor, focusing on Tai Chi and I find that I get the same calming sensation playing the piano as I do practicing Tai Chi. Thank you, again!
One of my favs, I play this everyday and was the first song I learned as I taught myself piano. John Tesh has a nice arrangement of this as well. He called it "In the Comfort of Angels" on his The Power of Prayer and Worship album.
This is my favourite piano piece. Almost every time I hear it I either get chills down one side or it brings a tear to my eye. It’s amazing. On a good day, both
I love your pace, tone and way of teaching. Very clear and concise. I think I can do open heart surgery if you did a tutorial. Thanks for sharing, have a good day 😊
I just started playing so really way beyond me at present but you are inspiring. I will save this video. I always loved the haunting melody of this piece. Thank you.
Thank you for this. I am an old lady and working on memorizing a few pieces I like. Although it is taking me many many sessions to learn this, I never tire of following along with you! From Rhode Island
I loved this when I first heard it in 1980 as the B-Side to Gary Numan's "We Are Glass" single. We had it played at our wedding in 1999. I've now decided to learn how to play it - so wish me luck(!) and thanks for the upload 🙂
I'm learning Gym-1 and it helps me learn the notes on the piano. Piano is a good way to get through the Pandemic. I need new glasses to see the sheet music better.
I year ago heard this piece on the radio and have been in love with it ever since. Thank your for sharing this video and the sheet music! I will not stop until I have mastered this! Thank you :)
after a few months watching and learning this I can finally say I can play it! Now I just have to practice it. I didn’t know this was a simplified version either. Oh well!
in this weird year, most of my gigs and classes as a percussionist dropped, so hardly any income. rough in a way, BUT my deep deep wish to learn to play the piano got at once lotsa space, time and hours to devellop!!! now 5 lessons later and about 4 hrs practice a day.... Satie is one of my main studies... wow! you explain it very well!!! (bach, jarrett and glass are also my main studies)... again: you are a great teacher, even for a non native english speaker, good to follow.
Watching "my dinner with andre the other night" and this is the theme song..perfect fit ..sooo relaxing..im gracious for all your pure love energy ..one 💘 love
I'm looking at buying my first keyboard. This piece is definitely on my short list of things I want to learn first. Great advice about warming up with scales. I have old fingers.
AWESOME !! I can share this with grandkids ... I used to teach their parents way before RU-vid :) Now I have to RELEARN -- Thank you for sharing your gift ✨✨✨👍
Today I watched first time your video I am 38 years old and want to learn piano I believe I will after seeing your videos You are awesome and I am very very thankful to you
Oooooh! This is the very 1st classical piece I ever tried to play and is one of my favorite songs on Earth! Can't wait to watch this video because I need help with the second part so bad! Thanks 4 this!
Very relaxing and nostalgic piano piece from Erik Satie. Each time I hear this beautiful piece i feel like I'm time traveling to that day. I love your lesson by the way it's amazing! I always watching your video and it helps me a lot. Thank you!
I got as a present the double LP of Reinbert De Leeuw with the early piano works of Erik Satie 30 years ago. It became my favorite music for a year. Since my brother was a pianist, there was a grand piano in the house. I couldn't play but I loved Gnossiene no. 1 so much, that I learned to play it note by note until it sounded great. De Leeuw plays it slowly so it was possible. That's the only piece I can play. If you don't now this version of Reinbert De Leeuw, give it a try. It's heavenly.
Thank you so much for this :) This was one of the pieces that made me fall in love with piano, and now I'm learning to play finally. This is so helpful for starting out Ms. Lisa thank you
I chose the "Sheet Music with Fingers" download. I found the right hand fingering of measure #22 was impossible for me. Also the fingering in measures #27 and #34 are also not consistent with the video. I am so grateful to have the video to refer to.
Ok it's official - you are amazing. I've just finished my 2nd semester and my music teacher is now on her holidays - I'm a mature student and my teacher works to term time and so I was looking for 3 pieces to practice over the holidays...I have definitely come to the right place - you took all the fear I had out of this piece. So wonderful...
Oooh this one goes on my “to play” list! Thanks for your suggestions Lisa - I finally learned Pachelbel’s Canon in D after watching your recent video. This one is really great too!
This piece is beautiful! As I was playing, my husband said it fits me far better than a lot of the other, almost stuffy, pieces I've worked on recently.
This song came pre-loaded on my Yamaha CSP-170. It's one of the easier pieces to play when you just follow the falling lights. I play about 40 songs well after 7 months of practice and there's hundreds more to learn. Videos like this help with my fingering technique and provide lots of info for someone teaching himself at home like me!
Love this piece so much and I am eternally grateful for your arrangement making it easier for me/us... Im an adult beginner and this is my 1st piece I want to learn. I know, Im shooting for the moon but hey, if I miss I am still between the stars...
i maybe don't have the ability to play the piano, but i enjoy watching you so much, and you make everything seems to be easier than the way it looks by your beautiful words
Love this piece. We got a piano last December for our kid, so i started playing again after 30 yrs. That's the first piece I'm trying to learn. I'm still at the key change, but someday I'll get it right!
