Nate, I just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort you put into making these tutorials. The production value is professional and top notch. There is so much detail and attention to explaining timing, what fingers to use, the chord pattern. I especially like how you match the words of the song to the chords and the rhythm and timing and right hand - left hand patterns. You make it easy to learn and very accessible. I am so glad I bought your piano course.
Musician-friendly and Nate is doing the tutorials with lots of passion and fun, which makes MUSIC more engaging and less intimidating. Music should supposedly motivate us more to do it with enjoyment and lots of fun. Thanks!🎶🎼😊😇
Thanks for another great song! You're teaching style seems to be working much better for me compared to other tutorials, and these videos help me a lot. A little while ago I requested a Billy Joel song in the she's got a way video. I think you should do another Billy Joel song, he is the piano man after all. Not piano man tho, there are enough of those😂 I don't really have a preference for which song specifically, cause I basically like all of them. I don't know if youve got one that has been requested a lot. I understand if there are just too many requests at the time. You're doing this for free after all. Thanks for helping me start my piano playing!
Hi Nate, thanks for the great tutorials, by the way how to play chords without looking? is there any exercise to do this like computer keyboard typing? thanks
Hi! Let me think about this...the best I can say right now is it just naturally happens with time, especially within a given song, you start to get muscle memory for how far to move your hands and fingers at different moments simply through repetition
Im so happy you did this one. I know I asked you three or four times over the last two years. You are hitting on all cylinders lately. Doing all my favorites. Im very grateful and am going to be very busy now
Yay thank you I was waiting for this one. Love your passion of being so accurate. Really appreciated that quality. Loved that you picked up that high F which everyone seems to miss.
I really appreciate these piano tutorials! I grew up surrounded by The Beatles even though I hadn't realized, mainly through music in commercials and watching earlier seasons of Thomas & Friends not knowing that the man that was speaking was Ringo himself. My freshman year of high school we played music from The Beatles and over the years they've grown on me as a band. Their music has inspired me to learn bass and piano, as well as start learning music theory with songs I know. These tutorials are really helpful for both learning the piano with songs I know and getting to understand some of the things I don't notice when listening. For example, I had no idea "Hey Jude" had measures of 2/4 sprinkled in it as they just felt natural with the song. Thank you so much for providing these tutorials for all to learn! Just as a side thing for anyone reading this comment or really even this far in, I would like to talk about a personal connection to the group and a bit about their inspiration for me. I will note now that this is a more personal story about my connection to a song and growth as a musician so don't feel like you have to read it. (if you wanna know the story but don't want to read it all there's a TL:DR at the bottom.) George is my favorite of the 4, and as of commenting this it is Feb. 22, making it 3 days until his birthday. Part of my journey to learning music theory and concepts was actually a challenge to transcribe a song for me and my friends to play, and I chose to do "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". It's my personal favorite song, and I have a strong connection with the lyrics as well as the song as whole as it resembles an important time for both me and George. Sure people will probably say "Something" or "Here Comes The Sun" were some of his best works with the band, but personally, I think his work with "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was the best. It was when he fully showed off what he could do as a songwriter, and definitely led to his contributions on Abbey Road. I first heard the song when I was going through a tough time in my life, and the lyrics really spoke to me. I nearly had to pause the song to cry because it felt like George was singing to me in hopes of comforting me. Now when I hear the song, it serves as a reminder to me that things that happen have their reasons. I haven't always been the "quiet kid", in fact I used to talk to my teachers as if they were my best friends. Going into 8th grade though, I just went silent. I don't know why I did or how it came to that, but I started to live my life as a background character. All my seats were in the back corners so I wasn't really the focal point of anyone. I started to make friends in band as the years went on and most of my closest friends today are the fellow musicians I've met. When I first started to like The Beatles, George quickly stood out to me. I had heard him be described as "The Quiet Beatle" and I felt an inspiration by that. I had something in common with one of my favorite musicians. When I heard "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" it led me to also realize that even if he was the quiet one in the group (getting only a fraction of what Lennon and McCartney put out) he still knew his stuff, and when he did write songs, he wrote them well. I finally came out of my shell and started to improve my skill and confidence with music, and even started to write songs of my own, and I owe it all to George. I want to thank George Harrison mainly as he was the leading cause in my growth as a musician, as well as helping me grow as a person. I'd also like to thank the group as a whole for releasing their beautiful and life changing songs that still take the world by storm after 60 years. Lastly, I would like to thank you Piano with Nate. Your videos have made great sources of study and are especially nice to learn from while I work on things other than music. Sorry this comment is so freakishly large lol. I mainly just wanted to write a thank you but I got distracted and felt like I could use the chance to share my story and connection with the band. TL:DR I grew as a musician and person, and learned to love the beautiful music of George Harrison and The Beatles thanks to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" Oh, and one more thing since the season is right, Happy Birthday George! I'm sure that many wish you were still here to see the day.
Thank you Nate. DACADES ago I wanted to know what the musical artisits really played themselves. The music in the song books never sounded like the real thing. This is so helpful. It shows the structure of the song much clearer too, just as Paul would have been putting it together.
This lesson is fantastic. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this with such excellent quality. I'm a total hack on piano but was able to learn this song quickly and now get great enjoyment out of playing it (although the dog is not a fan of my vocals).
You know what? Because of your video, the time I now spend practicing in a day equals the time I used to spend practicing in a whole week when I was a child!
hello I'm French and my english is very bad ; So i don't understand all the words , but i thing understand the most important and also the rythm ( not easy ! ). Thanks for this lesson , it's for me very wonderfull best regards !
Great Nate. By the way I uploaded another "House Of The Rising Sun" with my sister singing and I just realized I forgot to give you credit, so I just edited my description and added your link. Thanks 🎹 👍
Thank you for this one! I love the idea of learning to FEEL the song and introducing different ways to vary things. It doesn’t need to be exactly the same as the record, and it doesn’t need to be the same every time. Just feel it out.
I just subscribed to your channel...i love your videos and i learn a lot, and your lessons are pretty accurate...i also learned the long and winding road which is my favorite Beatles song on the piano... thanks man👍😊
If you have time maybe do a video of the similarities or differences between a piano and a guitar and which instrument is harder to play thank you!😊@@PianowithNate
Hey !!! Can you do a tutorial to play “what was I made for “ by Billie Eilish or “Will he “ by Joji ? I’ve been waiting to learn how to play these songs 😊
I agree… I like the Eb triad. It’s not a big deal though with the 6. It’s initially odd at first. Another interesting take is how they use a blues shuffle on F and C.
Excellent! Like you I had been avoiding this one but now that I have watched your tutorial I am all in. Your detailed explanation and replication of Paul McCartney's piano accompaniment is so inspiring it has moved me to having a go. Unfortunately your other tutorials I have been currently working on will have to take a back set while I try to master this one. Thank you so much.
Once again, great lesson and I am going to give it a go. I did some of your other songs/lessons and thought to myself “This is to hard for me, I’m never gonna get it” but I did… I think it’s all because of your lessons and how great of a teacher you are, so thanks again and keep them coming!! ❤❤❤❤
Came here to say Thanks! I am just learning piano, and I could still recognize that the one chord chart I found from a well-known app is just wrong. Eb6 is the key to everything, lol. Makes it sound Beatle-y.
THANK YOU!!! The tutorial I've been using has some ridiculous inversions that seemed so unnatural I thought I should just quit trying to learn piano altogether! lol (BTW If you could do a tutorial of I Didn't Understand by Elliott Smith, I would love you forever.) I appreciate you!!
Hi Nate! Great videos!! Could you do a tutorial of the piano solo of supertramps song school!! It is so wonderfull! Y would be very pleased! Greatings from Uruguay!
Very, very beautiful song/chords and a good tutorial. But I don't have a voice to sing, if you know what I mean - English is not my first language, as I speak Portuguese. I mean I'm not a singer, I just play the piano. I do love your tutorials and voice, Nate.
Another awesome tutorial from the 🐐! Thank you so much for all your videos and all the effort you put into them. I couldn't have picked a better time to start learning. Obligatory song request: I've been really trying to figure out highwayman (the white Buffalo version) and I... I've heard tripping cats play better piano lol. Would really appreciate your take on it! Have a good one, Nate! Thanks again!
Hi Nate ! It's so great that you finally made this tutorial. Year ago I learned "hey jude" from Mr. Birdmann's turotial but this will be another awsome experience. I like how you play outro so much. I started playing on piano because of you (You had ~8k subscribers). Thank you :)
Thanks for the great tutorial once again nate, idk if you want to do this at all but i would love to see your take on jungleland by far my favorite piano piece ever!
Another great tutorial I have played this for a while without the subtle melodies, they make it a different tune👍 I have improved my version so much you can do great things when you “listen to what the man said”😮
Hi! Simple answer is, I don't hear the high C in the chord on the beatles recording. It's very common to not play the root in right hand chord voicings since it is redundant if the left hand is playing it...doing so can thin out the chord so it has a less "dense" sound, or simply make it easier for the fingers to play.
Thanks Nate! I haven't been playing all that long and my personality tends to be very rules based but every now and then someone reminds me that using your instincts/personal touches, etc is more than acceptable! Thx again! @@PianowithNate
Hi Nate thank you so much in all your time and effort you put into these vlogs bud, only been playing a few weeks but already I can play a few songs please please please could you teach in your amazing style … child in time by deep purple one of my favourite songs of all time …. If I could play this it would be awesome thanks again Robert Burr 👍👍👍
I can’t tell you how geeked I am to find this video. A guitarist friend of mine gifted me with a Yamaha keyboard that he wasn’t using and it has (among MANY others) the perfect piano patch for this song. I should point out that I’m at the Neanderthal stage of learning keys but I always wanted to learn Paul’s style as closely as possible when learning Hey Jude. And you’ve got it ALL here. The proper key, all the little inflections he uses, the correct voicings, and you explain everything VERY well so that it’s not overwhelming to novices and still retains the critical elements that pros would want to nail in order to play it well. I love that you encourage people not to get too regimented in the execution of inversions, and that you obviously know that it’s cool to add one’s own style every now and then. I’ll be rewinding the hell outta this lesson, guaranteed! Thank you, sir!
