One thing I've notices the Imperial Guard is really good to take it out Infantry but they're not very good at taking out vehicles but the psyckeer is very good especially when you got lots of units that are good at taking out infantry and micromanaging the machine spirit power
@@reaganluskie7240 The goal of the sentinals was to have a bunch. They hit very hard but they dont hit very often. So if you have like 3-4 of them they will melt a single vehicle very quickly. Also the leman tanks are pretty good at taking out vehicles, and if you are still struggling then those one mobile planting units that can be upgraded to either be effective at infantry or vehicles is solid too.
This was fun to watch. These games were my childhood and every year I’ll jump back in and absolutely smash custom battles for hours and hours. Imperial guard ftw
Really nice guide I always played them differently 3 guard squads, 3 techpriests at the begginning, max the guard, and build defense as fast as possible. I defend and grab points till i can push. Well, thsts my strategy
I have been thinking about updating that guide and making anew one for each race, I feel I have learned more about the game since I made that and my strats are differant. But I am glad you liked it!
Same here, defensive tactics, trying to max out everything, grinding up human waves and vehicles, send them to a massive offenssive at a single point then repeat slowly
Holy shit I was playing the soulstorm tutorial yesterday and I'm impressed by the speed of your gameplay. I was just a kid when I played it and now 10 years later or so I have to learn to play again and this is a good example of what I could do once I get good.
I am aware I am four years late. But if you still do this sort of thing, how could one as imperial guard counter in a 1v1? You usually have units rushing you immediately in a 1v1. But the imperial guard are weak early game. In this, you aren't attacked until later, thus giving you time to fortify the guard and take points. Curious if you could answer, anyway good vid.
I just made an entire lets play where I go through the campaigne on soulstorm on the hardest difficulty. In it I show different methods on rushing / being rushed and how I handled it. The imperial guard are very good defending because when you put any unit inside their buildings their buildings start shooting the enemy with no risk to your units. I encourage you to check out that lets play :D
@@Carpet_Gallery Build barracks and use them as bunkers. If have lots of resources and want strong defense, building new HQ's as "walls" to block off entry into your base is a good strategy for me. But in the early stages of the game, just build barrack at choke points with some turrets and them fill the barrack with units inside.
@@angrysocialjusticewarrior what about units, that outrange barracks? There are a lot of those in the early game, like cultists with granade launchers etc. Should I just desperatly try to repair them with TP?
@@ukasz4684 Best defense against Grenade Cultists is building a turret and a tactica control instead of infantry command, and getting your guardsman grenades too.
@@nattithebaddi5045 yeah I didn't realise how old the video was when I made the comment, it was purely because the video is way zoomed in so I figured the mod wasn't installed
@@chickenlittle567 go to dowstats.ru/ and then "downloads" at top and the camer mod link is there, you need to save the files in " Down of War Soulstorm > W40k > Data " folder
@@YudA295 Building and upgrading your listening post to the base turret then making sure your builders are reparing it and keeping it up is a huge early game strat against the AI, it is by far the better defence compared to raw troops, especially when you are paired against your disadvantage. The Ai wants to get your ranged units in melee combat, they are programmed for this and they can't get a turret or listening post in melee. How about you tell me what is going on at the start of your game? Maybe I can help point you in the right direction on what you can improve on to beat standard and hard
@@nattithebaddi5045 well... first i make barrack building (i forgot the name) then i make alot of guardsman because i want numbers. I send my guradsman to capture every ciritcal points and i just put listening posts near base only and i ignored the rest. It works 1v1, but more than 1 enemies im fucked. I also didnt know you can put troops into buildings. I just got the game last night lol.
@@YudA295 Okay! Well you should always build listening posts on everything, the reason being is it doubles the $$ you make from that point and upon completing the listening post you are reward like 60% of the money you spend on the listening post. So you quickly make your $$ back from it, upgrading it to the first upgrade with the turret triples the money you get too,
