This piece is a game changer, it's the first "real" piece students play, its melodically sweet yet simple with a dynamic rhythm that makes a student feel like a real cellist, as silly as it is, i say in cello world, there's before breval and after. Its a good piece for advanced beginners, on border of a lower intermediate student

I'm a cello teacher and orchestra member. I never played this piece in childhood. I see it's a very good piece for advanced beginner and intermediate cello students.

Thank you Maxim! When I first looked at this piece, I said, oh, that should be easy since it's all in 1st position. But, it was much more challenging than I thought. It's a great piece and I learned new skills. Thank you for explaining each section. You're my co-teacher. You helped me prepare the basics before my teaching lesson. Then, my teacher can find my personal weakness and help. Great combo!

Perfect! Thx a lot. Love Your music and explanations. I think it's time to say goodbye to the nineteenth century neverending hand positioning workshops. I spend several hours on it and I decided no more such mistakes.

You are welcome, Marzena. I think that the best way is to find some balance between working on these exercises and enjoying music you like to play. Without building proper technique it will be quite difficult to play well. You might feel that these exercises do not help, but one day you will feel the difference.

Riten always confused me,,how do you know how slow to go, is it half of orginal tempo? How is it counted? Does metronome reduce for that measure
@Cellopedia
@Cellopedia 2 года назад
Ritenuto allows musicians to make an artistic choice how much to slow down. There are no rules, just your experience/musical taste. Metronome can not help to do it. Just try different ways.

Maxim, What is the difference between this video and the Udemy course titled "Pre-Intermediate Cello Course Part II - Sonata by J.B.Breval"? I noticed in the introduction, it uses some of the same clips from this RU-vid video. Thanks.
