Watching Sean play influenced me to stop using a pick. Learning how to strum with just my fingers as if my hand were on Adderall opened up a whole new style for me.
Man I started doing this a while ago just because I'd pick up my guitar to mess around and didn't have a pick handy. Got used to it eventually and now I can hardly even play with a pick lol, just feels awkward and doesn't sound right to me. Pickless for life dawg.
Great job and NOICE tutorial right there! I’m going to be strumming some of those sweet tunes all the time now! Great way to spread your affinity of music with others on earth! Keep strumming to your hearts content, sharing your musical gifts with the ears of all around you, and spreading peace. Thanks for the tutelage, brother!
Good Question! The nails are whats really driving the sound. But when I'm playing fast, I'm not trying to precise with my fingers. I'm sliding them across the strings, some nails are hitting and some fingertips are as well. When I want to make a much louder/defined strum, I'll place my Index and middle finger on my thumb and strum. I'm hitting pretty much the whole distal phalanx (third bone in your finger), nail and all. After you play like this for a while, you'll start to develop calluses on your distal interphalangeal (Second crease in your finger) of your index/middle, which will make it much easier to do. Hope this helps!
Yooo. Just stumbled across this today and it now seems super obvious but also helped tremendously. I'm just messing around playing ajj songs on a ukulele- which is already a strum-with-your-fingers kind of instrument, but i couldn't figure out why the strumming patterns didn't feel/sound quite right. Thank you!
Jake Longg yeah, he really has to improve if he wants to make more videos... also editing more. this video is kinda like just easy recording sthn to show your friends.
