Right at the end of the video, you showcase how much having a read matters in your own choices as it regards to oki pressure. This, greatly ties into something I've been thinking a lot about lately. That being how intuition and rhythm play into fighting games. It often feels like guessing or RPS situations determine the outcome of a match. And a player's ability to reset to neutral, control the pacing and spacing and have some influence over when those RPS situations occur is a huge part of fighting games in general. I'm probably stating the obvious, but actually going through it myself feels profound. Regardless I love your videos man, just keep them coming. Show us everything you got. I remember watching a Problem X stream once when he was playing Abigail, and his accuracy when he would say stuff like, “You’re, afraid, you’re going to backdash” was tremendous. It was a big deal recognizing how important it is to understand what is driving your opponent to make certain decisions.
You can avoid the DP after a command grab if you DR and then instantly throw. Means you can then fully punish the DP rather than being stuck in stand still if you’ve OD’d through it.
@@ZachHenke it really is. Tbh I've so far not been following up with the target combo after OD launcher because I felt the reward was minor for having to spend 2 bars on OD launcher plus one bar on DR target combo. This will make me use it! Literally jumping in rank now to test it out
Great video as always! Just one thing though, after standing medium punch after command grab on chun li back heavy punch would miss, so maybe thats not universal unfortunately, or Im doing something wrong! Edit: nevermind I worked it out, it missed if they wake up standing p unch instead of crouching punch, probably not a huge deal but worth pointing out
been labbing these setups and i think the OD stance against dp is definitely character specific. My default training dummy is ryu and od shoryu punish counters through it. not sure if I'm doing it wrong here or not though
OK OD stance will lose to Ryu OD Shoryu, Guile OD Somersault, and Rashid OD Spinning Mixer. It also TRADES with Akuma's OD Shoryu. Other than those 4, it will beat every other OD DP
