Hasbro really thought there isn’t enough fighting in regular monopoly, they think they need to add a feature that purposely incentivises cheating and cause more arguments XD
My friend group decided to ditch the specific cheating cards, we just played by cheating and if you get caught you pay 500 to the bank, i stole all of my friends properties
I think this still called cheat even you follow the official rules. This is same as cheating your husband/wife, there is no official rules by goverment broken, just common sense rules and religion rules broken.
When I was a child I thought monopoly cheaters edition was like monopoly but you can cheat whenever you want but if you get caught you go to jail. The friggin ads tricked me.
No, I did that and stated how in the rules it doesn’t say anything about what I did and won easily since the other players couldn’t tell if I was doing an actual valid cheat or not.
There is actually no cheating in normal Monopoly, this edition allows you to cheat, but in a pretty limited format that can be changed if you got away with a cheat.
This game was fun in my opinion. We played this on my 24th birthday, and I am surprised my friends and I still remain friends to this day after playing this version! Our bruises from this game says it all how fun it was.
You know, the only cheating card that can ruin a game is the one that lets you steal from the bank. One time we wrre far into a game and close to the end, and when a couple of us started to argue and got distracted because of some alleged cheating, my gf managed to take like 90% of the 500 bills of the bank, and secured them on the next dice roll. Everyone just ragequit and we've never played it again 😂😂😂
@@En_theo I once stole the whole game and no one noticed, they didn't want me to play with them anymore because "I wasn't getting the point of the game"
You said that you must ask for rent before the next player rolls the dice right? But what about Passive-Agressive Landlord Community Chest that specifically tell you don't ask for rent, but if the player tries to skip rent then you reveal the card and take one property away from that player.
The player who landed on it must pay the rent. If they skip the rent, you can call them out and use the card. This means, the player who landed on the property must be aware of others, and see if they purposely don't ask for rent. They might have the card and just waiting for jt.
To be fair there is something called "Ultimate Cheaters Mode" where all forms of cheating are allowed. So if you are turned off by the limited amount of allowed cheats you could play that mode to spice things up a bit.
"There are certain ways to cheat, all other ways to cheat are not allowed" and here I was thinking this was *monopoly but anarchy* but that aside this seems actually fun
My assumption is that AFAIK in high level play, it's optimal to be in jail because then you can't land on other peoples properties - connecticut avenue is the furthest space from jail as it is right before it, thus making it 'worth less' because when leaving jail it will take a long time to get there.
I like the idea that whether or not someone is cheating is determined by a vote of the players. Then the game becomes like the real life justice system in which corrupt officials accept bribes to let people get away with their crimes.
Monopoly initially was an art game about how capitalism can make people who have no legitimate chance of success still drag through life for what feels like far too long before they finally give up, so that was meant as a feature. Ironically non-official things like the free parking lotto can contribute to this even more, to the point that the endless game edition canonizes the lottery. If you're trying to play it for fun - this is the (superior) speed ruleset found in the normal rulebook, and most variations give up on even trying to carry on with that old anti-capitalist theme so they default to the better ruleset.
A variant of this game that I came up with: The game ends when all the cheat cards are gone. You must pay rent, even when the owner doesn't ask, unless you can get away with a cheat that says otherwise. You are stuck in Jail until someone else gets in Jail, unless you have a Get out of Jail free card, or you cheat. After completing a cheat, you keep it with you for the rest of the game, you get the card as a special ability. You may sell Hotels back to the bank for half price. You may not trade cheat cards. The game ends when all cheats have been completed successfully. Then each player must travel to GO. Whoever completed the most cheats gets $100 for each cheat completed successfully. All other players pay $100 to the bank for each cheat they completed successfully. Whoever has the most cash still wins.
Here's my variation: Multiple players can cheat in one turn, but they must not do the same cheat. They can claim their successful Bonuses if they get away with it. Betrayal is fine as well. A player can only attempt to catch one player with 1 cheat per turn. After that the Accusing player has to wait for their turn to end before they can accuse another player. Cheating on Community Chest Cards is acceptable and the actions are the similar to Counterfeit Chance. The rewards and penalties are the same as Counterfeit Chance. Once a cheat is completed or caught, it is gone for the rest of the game. If there are no more cheat cards, you cannot cheat for the rest of the game. You may sell Hotels back to the bank for half price. If the accuser falsely accuses another player of cheating, they have to flip the card the accuser was attempting to accuse the opposing player for and do the penalty. Adjustments may needed to be made.
there is a variation of that monopoly where there are counterfeit bills among the real bills and at the end of the game the counterfeits are not counted and are discounted
Challenge: beat monopoly cheaters edition without cheating and be the only one to call out other cheaters. Edit: I didn't realize just how popular this would get... 593 likes?!
Harder version of said challenge: win without cheating, but after every time someone talks, you must call them out for cheating even if they are innocent.
@@kemritwithgunbutrebornasle4021 Harder Challenge: Win Cheaters Edition without cheating nor getting any properties even if free nor being able to accuse anyone of cheating except innocent people nor being able to trade but instead give a little extra money to others when landing on their property and only gain money from others, Community Chest, Chance and Go.
@@theone05 Harder challenge: win cheaters edition without cheating, buying, trading, or selling properties, collecting money from go or community chest. You can call out cheaters, but every time you correctly call someone out, you take the punishment on the card and go to jail for the rest of the game, unless you pay 90% of your money. You must call out at least 2 cheaters during the game. If you’re wrong and they’re innocent, you instantly go bankrupt and lose the challenge.
As a video gamer who collects board games I remember when this version came out and now I have a Monopoly collection including this one being shown in this video
Here is how you can get a sweet advantage: Get the counterfeit chance cheat. Draw a chance card and say the following: "Whoever draws this card is immune to all calling out of cheating. They do whatever they want whenever they like. In fact, the game has been won by the player drawing this card." 5:34 Also that is some mighty good slight of hand.
Ones that have "immediately" you play when you get them as said at 3:35, you can't hold or discard them. So if you draw an immediately card and have another card, you play the immediately card and continue on with the other card still in your hand until you use it.
We don't have a special game version, we just use the classic Monopoly set. You can cheat however you want, but if you're caught, you must reset everything to how it was like before you cheated, and your token is sent to jail + you must take any other punishment that all the other players feel is fair.
Honestly it should be renamed as Monopoly: American Lawsuits Edition. "It's legal to be illegal as long as you have fast corporate lawyers and a huge stash of money."
One of my favorite variants. God this starts family fights lol There's also a variant where all bets are off and you just cheat as much as you can to try and get away with it lol
there are specific ways you can cheat, and other ways of cheating are technically not allowed, but its literally called Cheaters Edition, to not break the rules would be poor etiquette.
it takes someone, dumb enough to design a monopoly game, to include the rule "all other forms of cheating are not allowed", while also having a "do whatever you want" action on one card.
I've played this before, and interestingly enough, I found it to be MORE fun than regular Monopoly! Like, if you don't cheat, you lose, so you either make everybody mad at you, or you spend the entire game feeling like the very concept of probability hates you specifically. HERE, though, cheating is built into the game in such a way as to make it a genuine skill, so winning or losing ironically feels MORE deserved, and therefore more fun!
Sounds like they got rid of houses specifically to prevent the housing shortage strategy. That, and the dream of actually owning a home is out of reach of the target audience of this game.
CUSTOM RULE: "The death penalty" If you are caught cheating and you are not following the rules of any cheat cards shown on the deck, you are immediately out of the game and you lose all your properties and cash. The banker will decide who inherits full/half/one-third of the cash or keep it into the bank.
"All other forms of cheating are not allowed." Me: *_laughs in cheater_* But seriously I played this version once and when a friend went to jail they just grabbed the whole board and walked off with it. We could do nothing, they owned the game now, they won.
Yeah, I remember when me and a bunch of friends got this game, and we played it for a whole 2 minutes before it devolved into mass chaos. Needless to say, we didn't finish that game lol
Is there a rule that you don’t have to show your properties to other players? Because if that isn’t a rule then how are you supposed to do price gouging?
0:55 Pentonville Road TLDR. We don't need a repeat of the rules of Monopoly. And if the mods are complicated we won't remember them so we won't play the game.
