Been a G&W main since Melee. It's so damn good to finally get some redemption. It's so weird playing a character that is not only not trash tier, but high enough some people are calling for nerfs, it's like "ahhh so this is what it feels like".
GnW main here, I agree. I enjoyed him in brawl but never cared about him in ultimate because I thought he was just the funny 9 character. Then I saw Maister, said "fuck it" and here I am.
i totallyyyyy agree, the bomb can be slapped out of the way with a shitonne of moves, the sour spot on the key is huge, up air doesn't ever kill, judge has gotten me killed so many times, and kill percent for g&w is like 80% just to name a few. the only way i'd accept a nerf is if they made him heavier and/or a kill throw
Yeah. What I love is that he is kinda this sleeper pick in the roster. If you just start playing him, he doesn't appear to be very good because of his odd movement and move set. But if you take the time to learn his properties and frame data, then he suddenly becomes one of the best characters in the game.
if there is something I like about the characters of Smash Bros, it has to be their references to classic games, such as Duck Hunt's special attacks... I Chosed Mr. Game & Watch as a Main because of my love for retro games
It comes out in two, hitbox starts at three, so yes it’s frame 3. Oil (attack part) comes out on 1, hitbox starts at two. Essentially: both moves are fast as hell.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl was my first game into the Smash Bros series and as a kid I always just loved Mr. Game and Watch's backair it was such a fun move to use so I always used him alot in my matches. Up to Smash 4 I decided I wanted to play low-tier characters and make use of them to show people that even low-tiers still have it as good as high tier characters and Mr. Game & Watch was my main to start it all since brawl. If you guys noticed Game and Watch was such a huge risk and reward character in smash 4 but with him and Mega Man at my side we won and lost games no doubt. With Mega Man climbing the ranks in tournament (he wasn't really used that much back in the day) I had myself a midtier and a lowtier character that did me justice but in Smash Ultimate people are starting to notice Game and Watch and now there's an argument whether he's good or bad or broken and it honestly makes me feel a certain type of way since no one picked him up in the beginning and now people want to play him because he's like top tier now. I'm happy for Game and Watch no doubt and he's still going to be my main but I don't like people thinking I play a character because he's popular at the moment or that he's busted
Bro it doesnt really matter whether they think you've picked him up just cause hes popular or not. At the end of the day who cares why you play a char? And you know that you've been maining him since brawl.
game and watch is my best character currently, and this vid is a great starting point for gw hopefuls, he's a lot of fun to play. though as someone who's been playing him a while now, i'm really looking for an in-depth guide to judge and all the number mechanics, not just 9s. also a vid of advanced the bucket/oil painic techniques would be awesome too; actually surprised this vid barely even mentioned the bucket
I'd highly recommend the PushBlock Gaming video for a more advanced G&W guide. Gives you frame data on everything he does and is more like a proper guide. It's a bit out of date so some moves are undersold (especially fair) but it gives you more and better advice than this.
This overview has been done like 7-8 times since the games release. None of these cover any of game and watch's less conventional kill confirms such as: sour spot nair to f tilt and drag down nair to down tilt. Also, this video didn't even mention down tilt, one of game and watch's best kill options, nor did they mention the effectiveness of dash attacks for 2 framing. smh
It was be nice if you would add some combos, because I like to play Mr. Game and Watch, sorry if you already did so an video 😅, but I didn’t find any combos and I was thinking about change my Character, but after this Video… I wouldn’t, so thank you very much for this Video, it was very helpful!!
I remember always playing Kirby as a kid when I’d just button mash, and then deciding to go with GnW because he just looked cool n then finding out it’s so powerful
Palutena used to be my main until the gaming van came to school with smash ult, I went against kids using mr g&w and won against them every round so now I main him
I dabble Mr. Game, with Young Link and Riddly. My Friday night gaming buddies hate me. This video will make my Mr. Game go from annoying to a real threat.....thanks!!!
Something that no guide touches on is to not use your brain. No seriously, this is something the Game and Watch Discord tells all new players to Game and Watch. The character becomes significantly better when you don’t think.
I think you guys should do Dedede next. I’ve been playing Dedede since Smash 4 and I really love him in Ultimate. I’m not a great player and I really want to know how to play my main better.
Sonic guides are usually only good when you know the character really well. A generic guide won’t do Sonic justice because he’s actually quite hard and difficult to play/explain despite how “simple” he looks. If ProGuides does a Sonic guide, they need a top Sonic player to do them.
