Everyone has their own idea of what would be the most interesting or viable team comp in upcoming stages. With the current meta being what fans consider "overplayed" and boring to watch, what do you think the league should do to get rid of GOATS?
I don't think they can get rid of GOATS. It's a permanent addition as long as Brig is strong imo. What would be nice is an incentive to play DPS, like bonus points to your score for playing a DPS for every round. Because honestly 6 DPS vs 6 DPS is way better than two 3-3s bashing each other for 60 minutes
I don't think the league would make any drastic change to their structure as it would be too risky. I think that further nerfs to the key heroes will eventually open opportunities to play different comps.
@@zandromex8985 at least it required plays to happen. A really good Miro tesla cannon usage. Talespin and chipsajin pharmercy combo. Sick surefour soldier/mccree hitscan aim. Ryujehong playing Ana while his team goes ham across the map. Taimo playing roadhog. The dive meta had counters on defense. It had to have sick genji or tracer player to work. Now, it's just pressing w and using q better wins you fights, everyone plays the same heroes. No body is unique and makes you go "if this player pops off, they win this map" Blizzards needs to know that crippling every hero to be balanced, would just make the meta shift towards the abilities that work together. Zarya+rien was always a good combo, but Zarya worked in dive too, or a rush down comb paired with hanzo and roadhog. Nerfing more than buffing stifles the creativity and options they can take. Hunters proved that the game has enough diversity for other than goats strategy to be viable, if just Blizzards didn't like cc so much and Nerfing everything to the ground. Name 3 characters beside Torb, sym, and diva that used to be wewker in previous patches but now they are stronger now. Teamwork became too strong in this game imo. No counter play whatsoever. I remember the riverly between C9(with rever and Adam) and envyus(with talespin and internet hulk RIP). That mechanical play was insane. We go close to that in Apex season 2 with luminous high. We're never getting that excitement again exempting from widowmaker plays. It's all bunker comb and goats pressing w and q and steam rolling the other team because they've got better timings on hitting their abilities in the first fight. Kept watching all of these games, and I can't remember them as well as I remember overwatch 2016. Don't tell me that shit was boring compared to this crap that no body bother complaining about cause they moved on. The numbers tell. This game outside of esports is going downhill.
@@ayylmao539 What I said has nothing to do with that. I just said that no matter the meta, the community claimed the game to be boring. And always said the previous meta was better
Bear it would be better if it was xernes(the opposite of yveltal) but it does make sense xernes while healing and yvetal for battle mercy if needed but it’s awesome either way
it doesnt matter when they win or lose. what matters is that the Hunters are playing their own game, not being tied down to GOATS or forced to play it.. that is why we love them. no matter who they face, we will all cheer them on, becuase they are the ones who are protesting GOATS at the moment. even if they face my favorite team of all time, i find myself rooting for the quad dps playing Hunters!
I mean like... This team went face to face with Vancouver and went to a map 5...WITH GOATS, these guys are insane, there's so many things to talk about these guys as they're legit so strong with anything
Small reminder: Hunter's coach is the coach of 2018 OWWC Team China, which destroyed coach Jayne and his Team Canada, ended up the 2nd place. Leave, who was the flex player in the startup of team CN, will turn 18 at the end of this year and very likely to join the Hunters.
@@Akshonesports Can't say, all I can say is Hunter's coach is more or less a genius with unique understanding of tactics and strategies. The good thing is that the boys would have competed in the league for quite some time then, while Team China would draw much more attention from other teams compared to last year. As for the 2nd question, I have to admit that I miss the 1st year after ow came out. Quite a few talented players left especially after Blizzard restricted 3rd-party-held championships. There are so many names that comes to me, so I just gonna mention the one that impressed me most. XDD, now a PUBG pro of RNG club, was as good a flex as, if not better than Leave imo. He hit rank #1 in 2 continuous competitive seasons on CN server, won 1v1 solo cup champion where lots of pros and streamers participated. After he shifted to PUBG pro he earned 2 rewards for killing the MOST out of 2 offline competitions. What's special about him is that he somehow managed to aim very well with a much higher sensitivity compared to average pros(like 2.5x faster or even more, he often does a smooth 360 within one swing of wrist when he streams). This has enabled him to do some crazy moves such as dragshots over half of a screen, genji's 270 degree ghost dash... So back to the question, Leave and XDD being the double flex is the dream roaster I'm so hyped to see, they could literally fit in any comp. Sadly it's unlikely to happen.
This is why I love the Chengdu Hunters. They don't follow the meta and bring back old or new comps to the scene proving that you don't need GOATS to win. just a really good strat
I think people will get bored of any meta if its goes on too long, GOATS has been meta for quite some time now so I think people are just happy to see a new style of Overwatch being played at a high level. I like the DPS comps but I dont hate seeing GOATS played at a very high level.
At 6:41ish you try to break down how “their triple dps play is dangerous” when they’re running two dps. Great attention to detail there. Top tier analysis really 4head
Well their rein/winston main Jiqiren isnt here in stage 1 and 2, so they are forced to play multi-dps comps due to unable to play 303 (even if ameng can play rein he still lacks experience). Now that jiqiren is here chengdu may try going 303 full time as they can now.
ckfeliz well, I think that they can play a good 3-3 if they want to, the team just need to practice. After the chengdu x Vancouver titans game, bumper give a interview were he said that ameng's reinhart was outplaying his own Reinhart. The team just have to practice the focus on the peel for ameng if they want to go 3-3
@@balamomontages Do you think they'll put jiqren on rein and start playing GOATS comps in Stage 3? What do you want to see them play in the upcoming stages?
Akshon Esports well, I personally am a dive tank main, so i would like to see some sort of new dive coming, but the new ptr make's dive a lot weaker, the McCree buff and the ridiculous dva nerf makes at least improbable of we seeing five coming back, so I would like to see some sort off bunker vs disrupt meta. In my opinion the high potential disrupt meta was very omitted when the 3-3 came, so I would like to see it come back and show its real potential
OK,I'm Chinese and I'm a hardcore Chengdu fan.I want to tell something some of you guys probably don't know. I typed these words with my phone 1.Jiqiren' rein is no doubt the best in China, winston normal, sucks at ball and orisa. More like a rein one trick. He's struggled a lot at visa problem, Chinese audience are really super highly expecting his visa could be solved. Jiqiren himself desperately want it too. And it was solved a few days ago. He will liberate lateyoung from bench, Jiqiren and lateyoung were the best coordinated tanks in China, two boys are really good friends, and they are so funny when they streaming together. 2.Chengdu's headcoach RUI, he's the most respectful figure in cn ow, he has a really active brain never stubborn, nickname as "highly skilled doctor". Some of you may noticed the fight of MY vs Lunatic-hai, MY almost beat Lunatic Hai but why? OK, it's beacause lateyoung desperately wanted to pee after two matches, he drunk too much water, so he called a pause, but Koreans said they can only pause once, and when RUI wanted to call a pause when score 2-2(MY players were crashed by LH mentally and started to play like throwing) and being told he can't ,it's already used once. Otherwise I bet MY would beat LH 3-2 with my fcking head. RUI is really really an amazing coach, he was a LOL pro when he was younger, he also insisted team China should play symmetra when owwc2018. 3.Ameng wasn't famous at all before owls2 in China, elsa, kyo, yvetal hard carried ever match with steady performance, but they are not as famous as jinmu and ameng. 4.Leave will be 18 when oct 2019, and he's living in chengdu LA base right now, Leave and RUI trusted each other very much, you can see Leave as a clown Fleta with deep hero pool, I think leave will be very likely go to CDH in s3, and there were some rumors said he will go to GZcharge. 5.I'm a little tired, maybe update when I have time
As a shanghai supporter ever since i got into then owl i love dps comps and the hunters exel at that Its those chinese sides that are showing flexibility unlike the rest. Really only those two but ive seen others try it. Love to see it and love seeing it bulldoze goats
The Hunters are just doing Overwatch right, they aren't just playing random comps, they are picking the comp that best works for 'their' playstyle. They don't bind themselves to Goats like nearly every other team does, and they dont play the mentality of (okay we took point one with dps heroes, we have 2-3 ults ready to go, lets all swap to goats and reset our ult percentage!) like other teams do. They'll run goats if they must, but its not their default strat, its their 'if nothing else works then lets go goats' playbook and they have a ton of plays to prove that they dont need goats
they remind me of the old rogue roster, when triple tank was the meta. Hopefully they'll cause the meta to shift from goats to the more dps oriented comps
They're consistent; look at how constantly they're putting out damage, and how efficiently they switch off to make new plays to avoid being read. Adaptability is a powerful trait, and the Hunters have it to spare.
What I like with Dps comp is that you'll never know how a team fight can change and end. With goats, it overall always the same song: one pick on the enemy team then snowball effect. Occasionally, a D.Va bomb can result on a clutch. But with Dps, anything can happen: A well placed Barrage, successful Nano Blade etc... even a single damn trap !
".....thrill and adventure...." Yup, that's just what it is. I tell ya, seeing Chengdu roll out everytime with Ameng leading the charge almost bring tears to my eyes. "The valiant and brave pioneers on a quest". Sounds good doesn't it? Because that's simply the truth! Coming in with really low expectations, to defying the meta and being just another team not named "San Francisco Shock" nor "Vancouver Titans", to actually winning big matches on their way to nearly scratching the playoff cut. Win or lose, Chengdu guarantees fun every single damn time they are playing. Similar to last season as to how NYXL basically has a roster full of rock stars, Chengdu basically also has the same thing now. My 3 favourite players in Chengdu are Ameng, Jinmu, and probably Elsa. But the rest of the team are also real close too! Seeing Baconjack and YangXiaoLong on mostly hitscan really invigorates the heart while seeing Yveltal and Kyo do their jobs nicely invigorates the soul. Can't wait to see how Chengdu will wow us in the next stages.
Akshon Esports Well that’ll be NYXL, Shock, Dynasty, Spark, Spitfire and the Titans. Not in that order. It’ll be really nice to see more awesome and dynamic plays...
Yeah I like the hunters Bc they don’t really ply goats they have dps which constantly switch they’re so flexible that it makes it harder for the other teams to try and find a a solid comp against them
TBH I think the LA Gladiators would benefit from this style mainly because of surefour and hydration but mainly surefour because he showed a distinct ability to play sombra
In the Hunters' composition? Because normally Philly might lose out. Despite being far superior at pre-GOATS traditional compositions they refuse to get off GOATS for more than a moment. I was tilted when EQO got off Pharah on Paris during Week 1. Anyhoo, if its mirror I don't think so, off-meta possible but not mirror. Ameng is too damn good at ball and Philly doesn't use Snillo for the life of them so only 2 DPS (Poko Sombra isn't there yet) with the starting line up.
As long as they remain committed to their teamwork and synergy, they can run anything they want. Whether in Stage 3 or 4, eventually Goats is going to run out, and no team is More Practiced on DPS based comps than the Hunters. They know it best, and can run it the best.
Okay honestly, I think Phil. Fusion could pull off the dps because they have carpe, a god Widowmaker. They could prob. start doing single dps, then progress to multi-dps as they get more comfortable because dps is always fun to see.
Omg the way this guy is talking is so funny. At the beginning of the sentence he is talking the same voice every time and then he ends in the funniest way ever LMAO
I don't think it's strange that 3-dps comps have risen with 3-3 reigning supreme lately. It actually makes a lot of sense if you think about goats' weaknesses. They're a short-range 'shell' brawling comp that hits like a battering ram. So naturally the counter is long-range suppressing fire and physically breaking up their shell. So heroes like torb, hammond, sombra, mei and many others really excel at helping to create space on a point and whittling down the goats 'shell' until it cracks. I've never understood the hatred of certain comps, it's clever tactics where the goal is to win by any means necessary. Goats still has my full support as a fun, unbreakable and powerful comp that's here to stay.
The hatred of certain comps likely stems from people's negative experience with them. They see/ hear about pros playing goats and think "that's what works, so we should play it too," and ignore anyone who thinks there are heroes outside the meta. Torb is a very hit or miss hero, depending on one's understanding of how he can be used as more than just a throw pick. Any hero that's not considered meta is easiest to blame if the team isn't doing well. But I agree, there are interesting comps that should theoretically be able to give GOATS a run for its money, so long as others in the ladder are open-minded about it and willing to work together for the sake of winning~ -Nessa
@@Akshonesports Agreed completely. Personally I hate most DPS comps with a passion simply because they're squishy heroes. I can't stand the idea of having them move such a far distance from me and then die because I wasn't able to reach and help them in time. DPS are just too squishy for me to be comfortable playing with, plain and simple. As a healer main sometimes I feel like I'm worthless because I can't reach my DPS in time and the enemy is putting out more damage than I can heal, so what am I supposed to do? It's made me lose enough matches and cause enough headaches to where I simply refuse to play without GOATS. Like it doesn't matter to me anymore, I'm not taking the risk. I cannot deal with having my team spread out and getting picked one by one, I much prefer a tight shell that hits like a battering ram.
I mean I'm English so I guess dps style comps would be good coz then the spitfire would be alot better. Also I'm a dps main (like so many others) so i want to see my favourite characters being played at the highest level
Obviously Shock would be the best. How do you stand up to a dps lineup of Striker, Architect, and Rascal? No team can match that. Has to be at least half a million bucks for that trio. I mean just imagine having to play against the old school rogue triple dps style with Super on Winston, Moth on Lucio, Viol2t on Zen, Striker on Tracer, Rascal on projectile, and architect on hitscan. I would bet my life that just the dps players from shock could absolutely destroy a full team of plats. Those guys are insane. If they picked up Profit and Libero I think Crusty would have to question whether you actually need tanks and healers in Overwatch.
I think the NYXL will be better but not in this season The have Sbb pine jjonak nenne flower and libro I think they need a fresh start next season to really shine
the thing with the hunter is that apart from yveltal they don’t have the best players from china. even then they would have probably played goats if jiqiren (their rein player) wasn’t stuck in china with visa issues. they found a niche for themselves mostly to survive without their rein and became popular for it but when all teams switch to a more dps heavy play style they won’t be near the top because right now they’re only there because they’re the only ones playing dps
Yeah I see what you mean I wish Guxue (or however you spell his name from Spark) was on the Hunters roster and heck, even all the other Chinese players in the league currently.
every owl team/player has said "Chengdu can play dps and do well because they are all amazing dps players" so idk why you think they wont do well after goats
fukutada For season 3 with a lot of the best Chinese talent turning 18 we could potentially see 2 Chinese super teams. Chengdu and if Hangzhou decide to ditch their Korean players them as well. Especially considering how good both Hangzhou and Chengdu academy are most can just promote a few from those teams. Considering how Hangzhou took a big risk scouting the low teams in Korea and it back fired we could see a Chinese takeover on that team.
distraxts Because the DPS on that team aren’t as good as other Chinese players? Just look at their team Jinmu while he has good mechanics lacks any discipline and always ends up dying chasing kills he shouldn’t, Baconjack just came back from a year plus break of not playing Overwatch and YangXiaoLong had a similar long break to Baconjack. All these guys are not the best in China, aren’t as good as their counterparts in OWL and on top of that are playing catch-up in experience. If all the teams played DPS they wouldn’t look as good. Even Ameng isn’t that great of a Hamster. Fissure, Mano, Rio, Guxue all have better Hamsters.
