How To Play Music From A USB Drive On A Kenwood Car Stereo 

What format is the USB stick. Did you format it on a mac or pc. What format was selected or was it already formatted when purchased? Can you specify the exact usb stick you using. Cheers.

Do car players support 128GB USB stick? Because I found a good deal and now thinking if I should buy a 64GB or 128GB

I have got the same radio. But once after 1/2 year I turned the engine on.It was in usb mode where I left it But it was frozen.I couldn't switch to other mode like radio, nor to play or skip the track.I took off the front panel several times and now I can switch between the modes. Everything works again apart from USB. It says NO DEVICE. It is still the save USB stick I used for almost 2 years. So I tried my sisters radio and it play the USB stick with no problem. It is huge disappointment.I am not going to but Kenwood ever again.I think 2 years is very short life span for a product at the price I purchased it.

Someone stole my music thumb drive from my car , now every drive I put in reads, "NA Drive" or "No Music". Very frustrating.

I have all of my music files on a USB Flash drive (161 GB, 7,921 Files in 837 total folders). I have a folder in root called Music with a separate Artist folder for each artist. Within each artist folder is a subfolder for each album containing all of the music files from that album. I haven't been able to get my Kenwood unit to recognize all of the Artist folders on the drive. I've used different brands of USB drives and different capacities. Nothing seems to be working. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Kenwood can't provide either an explanation or a solution.

I put around 400+ songs on a USB stick and the car cd player wouldn't play anything beyond 255. I thought it was an issue with the usb pendrive I had. But it does it with three of them I have. It says F01 on the screen before TRACK number but I could never figure out how to change it. Was bothering me it wasn't playing the other 200+ songs. My solution was to set the Folder Random to ON and that made it play every song, but shuffled. I just tossed all the songs on the usb stick with no folders.

Hi I'm glad to see this video, yet maybe you can help me. I have a kenwood KDC-210UI. the problem that I have is: when I insert a micro USB sandisk there is a MASSIVE gap until I reach the first music (depending how much music I have). In the USB there is only music MP3, no other files, but for some reason I find my self flickering the forward button while i'm driving, it's frustrating ! how can I remove this empty invisible gap, I formatted the usb many ways, yet the best way is MS Dos Fat 32 , you can hear the music nicely but the gap i there at the beginning. when set on the stereo "Suffle" (mix) you can see the stereo searching and in between songs you have that gap, when the cap appers it shows on display "no file", so then I press forward unti it finds a song. please help.

hey thats awesome, i im looking for a new head unit as my older Kenwood only reads fat32 about 260 folders ( album folders inside of band folders). + its not bluetooth. i have like 80GB of music i would like to carry around with me in my truck. i read the comments and some of the problems could be solved by pushing the reset button under the faceplate.

I have been thinking of replacing the stereo in my wife's truck with something like this. The mini thumb drive is an excellent idea. Does the Bluetooth connection work well also?

I have a similar Kenwood player in my car. I can't play songs from a USB 3.0/3.1 memory. Is there a player that can do that ? Even the expensive ones, in the 200-300 $ price range can't play USB 3.0/3.1. WHY ?

I have a question for you, I have a 64 g thumb drive with about 16g worth of music. When I plug it into my system. It only shows part of my playlist and some of my artist. It won't show all of them. Barely even half of all I have on the drive is viewable or shows up on the radio. Idk what to do to fix it. I have the right format, condensed my folders and everything. Have any suggestions?

For me, the only additional step was that I had to make sure that the USB thumb drive was formatted as Fat32, rather than FAT, exFat or NTFS. Once I formatted the drive as Fat32, it was recognized and worked great on the Kenwood car stereo.
